A great lame that will last forever.

Perfect! Love the stainless steel handle. The blade is held with a screw, so there is no chance of it coming off while using. It came with extra blades. The case is a great addition. I like keeping it in a case for safety purposes. I would recommend this for anyone who bakes bread.

Love the weight and solid stainless crafting. Very good angle for easily scoring bread before baking. Would definitely recommend to others looking for a quality product that should last a lifetime

Sturdy, high quality, durable

This lame is very sturdy. It has a solid, evenly weighted (ergonomic) feel when you hold it. The lame comes in a safety case, where it is nestled in a foam bed. The case has a sleeve style sliding lid. It can't possibly fall out, even if you drop the case. The whole case is then placed in a simple cardboard box with the manufacturer's name on the cover. I keep it right near where I do most of my bread scoring. I love that it also comes with a supply of blades to replace the one that is already affixed to it. It is attached by screw at the central point, with two bumps to align with the holes in the flat surface of the blade, for stability. It is easy to rotate the blade to expose the opposite corners' edges. You simply curve the opposing corners upwards, creating a U shape, then rotate it and let it go back to its former position, only having been turned 180 degrees. The lame is well worth its cost. You're not just buying a lame. You're buying a scoring system. As long as single edge razor blades are made, this lame will hold up to the rigors of artisan bread scoring!

Best of the Best

I have gone through several BRead Lames over the years. Most are crap so I came to amazon not expecting to find anything I would like. As I was searching I came across this product that is designed by bakers for bakers. And I thought, "this has got to be a quality product". So I took a chance and ordered it. This is a lovely lame. It does not look cheap and is perfectly weighted. Why do I mention weight? Because it's important. You want a product that has enought weight so that it stays in your hand as you are slicing through the dough. I have had lames fly out of my hand. And this is dangerous as it's a double-edged razor blade. Anyway, to date I have used this product twice. As mentioned, it is designed with bakers in mind so it's a quality product. Second, it slices through dough like buttah. It's effortless to pull the razor across dough. Yes, you have to exert a little pressure but you won't have to worry about this product flying out of your hand. It's metal. I believe SS. And it does the job it was created to do. Thank you for designing a great product. This may be the last product that a new baker thinks of but it's fairly critical because if you don't create slits in the bread, the dough will not bloom properly as it becomes bread. And to me, that makes this device the most important tool in a baker's arsenal. So, what are you waiting for? Buy it. You won't be disappointed.

Functional and great value

I was in the market for a new bread lame after getting by with an el cheapo model for while. I needed to step up so was looking for something that was of high quality and looked easy to deal with replacement blades. This one fit the bill. I like the stainless handle (vs. the plastic I had before, and some wooden versions I saw advertised), and the fact that the blade replacement is a simple thumbscrew with standard razor blades. And a decent hard case to store it in vs. leather or anything else I could wind up slashing. Works like a charm in either hand. Very pleased with this purchase. I haven't replaced a blade yet but it looks like I'll be able to without harming myself. :-)

Great bread lame.

I used this product to score my sourdough this weekend. It's a very good product easy to use and easy to change the blade. I like the fact that it is metal and easy to clean. I am very satisfied with the product especially for the price. If I had one complaint it would be about the case. It seems a little cheap. But to me that has no bearing on buying it. I bought it to score bread and it does that beautifully.

Quality and functionality

I don’t have much experience using a lame. As a matter of fact, this is my first. But after reading the comments of other brands and the issues they were having, I chose this one because it’s made of stainless steel. After I received, the quality exceeded my expectations. It has a nice “hand” to it. It’s of a good weight and the blades are easy to install and change out. They are held very securely in place until ready to remove. It also comes in a nice case to store it in while not in use. I’m glad I chose this one and I recommend it to others.

I like the plastic storage case that came with this lame (also was inside a cardboard box if you want to wrap it). The blade is exposed on both sides, so safe storage is critical. The blade itself if mounted on a washable stainless steel handle for through cleaning. I used this lame while making Dutch Oven style bread, it was a bit difficult to make my cut marks since I had to reach down into a hot cast iron pot to make my slashes - a straight across draw is much more effective. Comes with extra blades.

Works great and built to last

This is a great product! I used it today for the first time and was able to make quick solid cuts and the oven spring was fantastic. Feels good in the hand as well. Very sold. Thank you for a great product!
