A wonderful instrument... Exactly what I was looking for and more!

After reviewing all the 17-key Kalimbas, I decided on the Gecko... Reviews were very good, came with lots of extras, and the price was reasonable. So glad that I did! The Kalimba was in tune, so all I had to do was to set it up by putting on the enclosed stickers (notes and color strips). The sound is very rich... Much better than some of the videos out there of other Kalimbas. The case is no joke, and I appreciate the cleaning cloth and the soft bag as well. I searched online for Kalimba music notations and am on my way on learning some very lovely songs on this amazing instrument.

Great Instrument for Beginners

Growing up I rarely played any instruments and didn't know how to read music. As an adult I decided to branch out and try out this kalimba. I was pleasantly surprised at how easily I was able to play it. It came with stickers to label they keys with to make it easier for those new to the instrument. It also included a songbook, an instruction book, a case, and cleaning cloth along with a tuning hammer. (Though I've heard tuning them to different keys is a pain and have yet to try that myself.) It is so easy to take on-the-go and practice anywhere. I am very pleased and impressed with the quality of it for its price. For me it was worth every penny to learn this new skill. I am in love!

Everyone Who Hears It Wants to Try It

A great package of fun. The Kalimba sounds great and everything you need to get started it there. I brought it to a music workshop and people wanted to keep borrowing it. One gal immediately went onto Amazon and bought her own!

Very nice treble kalimba

I bought this for my nine-year old niece who, after playing around with my Hugh Tracey kalimbas expressed an interest. As with other reviewers I was quite pleasantly surprised. The quality of this instrument is quite comparable to the Hugh Tracey treble, at less than 1/3 the cost (compare: $140 for a Hugh Tracey treble). You can find cheaper kalimbas in the $10-$30 range, but most of them are poorly made, and little better than toys. This, on the other hand, is a real musical instrument. The build is solid, the wood smooth and nicely finished, and the tines are well-shaped and chrome finished. The hardware is basically the same as that used on Hugh Tracey instruments. The tone is bright and rich, and the expression holes on the back side make special effects easy. This is one of those instruments that is quite appropriate for everyone from beginners to pros. A newbie can easily be picking out a tune on one of these in a few minutes, but with some dedication, advanced players will find the instrument lends itself to complexities limited only by their imagination. Especially nice with this package are the little extras that come with it: a hardshell case (these can be hard to find separately); a tuning hammer; polishing cloth; and note-indicator stickers for the tines, if you are so inclined. There is also a small book of tunes in kalimba tablature. Really, you're not going to find better for this price. Recommended.

I'm in love with this thing and I can't put it down. Ever since it arrived I keep picking out tunes on it, and playing with it constantly. It's beautiful, it sounds great, and it's incredibly portable. I see myself playing with this for a long time and even trying to get good at it. I highly recommend it, it's even better than I thought it would be.

Outstanding!

Arrived today with no issues. All the keys were nicely standard tuned and the wood looks spectacular in person. Mine doesn’t seem to have much buzzing at all when I play and I’m overall very impressed. It comes with a nice soft touch hard case with a tuning hammer nestled within the bottom. You also get a sweet bag to store it in alternatively. They even include a nice sized cleaning cloth to wipe it down before storing it and some informational booklets with proper tuning and maintenance tips, along with some neat stickers to place on your keys for easy memorization. I think for the great quality of this Kalimba and all the included extras you get with it makes this an unbeatable deal. If you’re curious about trying out this instrument then this one is definitely the way to go.

I am impressed with a quality of this product, the wood finish, the keys and the inclusion of a case, tuner, velvet pouch, wood polishing cloth, tutorial book and QR code to the online instructions, the company did an excellent job of providing you with a quality product along with accessories, instructions, basically everything you need to get you started. Obviously with any instrument, you need to practice to get better but there are lot of additional tutorials on the internet you can easily find. Being a musician, I can appreciate how this company thought of everything do help you get started, nice job Gecko!

A gorgeous instrument for any skilled player

Absolutely wonderful instrument. Very sturdy, not brittle at all. Wood is very pretty and pleasing to touch. Sounds and notes are clear and distinct. Everything comes as advertised. Helpful instructions with QR codes that link to videos to give demonstrations for various tasks! Highly recommended. It brightened my day and I'm happy to have it.

Great quality and relaxing pastime.

It came quickly and is beautiful. Was in tune, didn't have any rust like a few reviews mentioned. It had a very strong smell right out of the box and still has it a bit but it is dissipating quickly, and I dont find it particularly offensive. It has a small booklet of beginning songs that is really a nice start to playing with it. Very nice case also. It is a VERY relaxing thing to do before bed - such a pretty music-box type sound.
