Melissa and Doug have been our go to toys since my little boy was two and he still likes them and he is ten. This is not for him however, but for my niece. She came over last night and I gave this to her, and she absolutely loved playing with it. Why Melissa and Doug toys are so wonderful is that they are simple yet draw in children's attention so well. The toys are wooden and painted to be adorable. The play factor is wide open because the toys are simple allowing children to use their imaginations and create endless possibilities. So, with this toy you can dress your wooden dolls just lake paper dolls but with magnetic wooden clothes. There are two girls and a puppy to play with and then multiple outfits. I would recommend this without hesitations. These are well made and very affordable.

Toddler Loves This Set!

I have a three year old, who is in love with magnet paper dolls right now, and this is right up her alley! This adorable set is definitely strong and resilient being made of good quality wood parts with delicate magnets. I say delicate as they aren't super strong, but it's perfect for those little hands! The front board actually slides up, and you can take the girls out, and put them on a cute little stand as well as the two animals in the case also. Underneath, in the wooden slots are various sections made up of clothes, shirts, shoes, stockings with shoes, sunglasses, hats, etc., for a child to put on their dolls and animals. The pieces are all thick so it's easy for little fingers to grab, and I like that the dresses and outfits are in different slots as we're teaching our daughter "where things go" when we pick up. So she likes putting all the shoes together, etc. She has played with this set over and over, and loves changing the outfits, and using other magnetic dolls to play with the ones from this set.

Cute Portable Activity

My daughter had a similar play set when she was little. She enjoyed it, so I thought it would be a nice item to have on hand for when my niece comes over since it doesn't take up a lot of space. This one has some noticeable improvements to the set that my daughter had. The storage box of this has a handle which makes it easy to carry. The set that my daughter had did not. The handle makes it easier for small hands. My daughter had to carry the whole box in her hands which was a little awkward for her at times. Another feature that her set didn't have that this one does is it has little stands for the dolls to use so they can stand upright. She had to hold hers up if she wanted them to stand. The set comes with 2 dolls, 2 pets, and lots of clothing and accessories. Everything fits nicely into the storage case and it has a minimal footprint. This could easily be used in the car or put in a bag for times when you need to entertain your little one in a waiting room or similar place. The pieces are high quality and what you would expect from the Melissa and Doug brand.

Classic!

This is such a no-brainer toy! All of my nieces have at one time or another owned this set and loved playing with it. I'll play with them too, and generally make the characters run around with no clothes while having my niece yell at me to put on a dress or shoes. That's how uncles do it, man! - This is a colorful and fun set! And it's an upgrade from their previous versions because you can now dress up 2 pets! You get 2 people and 2 pets and clothes for all! My nieces all own dogs so they love this. It's a nice toy because it engages the kids, it's easy to use, there's no batteries or noise, and it's a lot of fun - I'll put dog clothes on a kid and ask my niece if that looks right - or but a dress on upside down. I definitely recommend this for any little kid!

3 & 5 Year Old Are Big Fans!

This set is great, and easy to play with for both our 3 and 5 year old. There are some fairly small pieces, so I wouldn't recommend this for kids under 18 months, but for age 2 and up this is an easy to use, colorful set that our two kids have gotten a lot of play time out of. There are two figures plus a dog to dress up, and I like that they come with a stand so you can stand the figures up as well. The background wood pieces also functions as a lid over the box to keep all the pieces in one place (which as any parent of small kids knows is key to keeping toys with small pieces in one place!) Definitely recommend this for young kids -- I think up to age 6-7 would probably still find this fun.

Great quiet toy

What a cute set! This is a great toy for the imagination. It’s also handy for when you may need to quietly keep a little one busy. The set includes 2 dolls, a dog, and cat as well as clothes and accessories for all of them. The dolls and pets include stands. Everything comes in a handy, wooden box that can be used to store them in. The top can double as a puzzle. The child can use to inside to sort the pieces. The clothes stay on well. You do need to make sure the child is old enough not to put the smaller pieces in their mouths since it’s dangerous to swallow a magnet! Everything is a good quality and well made.

An enthusiastic two thumbs up in our household for this set! My favorite thing about it as a parent is that it's compact, portable and comes in a package that it can be stored away nicely in. My 3 year old daughter loves using her imagination to dress up the two characters and then give the pets matching outfits. The magnet pieces and characters are great quality - nice, thick and sturdy. The clothing is colorful and has a good variety of patterns and accessories to choose from. The characters also have plastic stands to stand all 4 of them up with. The box that they come in has sections for all of the clothing and the stands and then the cover which hold all the characters slides on as a lid. It's a nice and tidy toy that is perfect for playing with at home, for taking camping, or we've even taken it to a restaurant as an activity while our daughter was waiting or her food. Great imaginative play item from Melissa and Doug - kid-friendly and parent-friendly!

Fun set for creative play

My little girls love playing with magnetic dress up doll sets like this. They already have some princess and Minnie Mouse sets like this, but those dolls are much larger than the two dolls that come with this set. Two pet dolls, one cat and one dog, are included in the set as well. There are lots of different outfits and accessories to choose from for the dolls. It's a cute set that allows kids to mix and match and be creative. The pieces are nice quality and will withstand lots of play.

I love this!

I used to love paper dolls as a child. I also loved playing paper dolls with my own daughter. This daughter is now mommy to my granddaughter, and these are five steps up from those paper dolls. The puzzle-like design holds the dolls and pets in place, and the clothing is magnetic. It does my heart good to see that there are still toys that don't have a plug. My grandbaby isn't allowed screens or much tv, so her imagination is soaring. She is a little young for this just now, not quite two, but they will be visiting in a couple of weeks, and I believe this is going to be a great toy for grammy's house. I absolutely plan to make sure she has one for her own house, too. Christmas is coming!

The description recommends this toy for children 3 and over and I can see that for anyone younger, the small pieces such as the hair bows and shoes for the dolls could pose a danger. The case keeps everything neatly organized for storage or travel. This set is a sturdier, but just as fun, alternative to traditional paper dolls and would make a great gift.
