I never found my Zoom recorder to be user friendly. This is easy to operate, easy to read, and happy with recording quality.

This is the best little Mixer Sound storage device I've found so far

I wanted a better than average voice recorder. WOW was I surprised about all the features and considering storing some music on a different SD card. Haven't done that yet but as far as the voice recording it works excellent. I choose this one because of the Roland name and prior experiences with their products. Also purchased the case for it and that was a perfect fit.

I use a voice recorder daily in my life because I often have to record and transcribe interviews. I haven’t found any app that does it as well as a standalone device. I’ve used quite a few voice recorders but this one is my favorite for a few reasons. First, I love the remote control ability via an app/Bluetooth. I can trigger the recorder from my Apple Watch if I need to. It also comes with a lot of onboard storage, and the quality is crystal clear. I never have a problem understanding voivces due to a poor recording. There are a lot of scene settings to optimize the recordings, but honestly, it works so well straight out of the box that I haven’t had to mess with those yet. All in all, I highly recommend this if you need a top-notch quality recorder — the only downside is that it doesn’t fit into a pocket as well as some other recorders I use, but then again the quality is better so it makes sense!

I like it, it came in good condition. I am using this item to record my discussions for copywriting.

I love this recorder! I use an Zoom H6 recorder for my podcast, which is an excellent high quality recorder. However, I needed something smaller, so I read about the Roland R-07 and it sounded like something that would work for me. Some people are intimidated by the larger recorders, or even a handheld microphone. So I purchased the Roland R-07 and now, because of its portsbility, versatility, and excellent sound quality, it is now with me wherever I go. Slips easily into any pocket, smaller than an iPhone, about the same size as a small flip phone, I’m telling you, it’s now my number one go to unless I have guests sitting around the table and I have microphones in front of them. I also took a chance and purchased this unit ‘used’ from Amazon Warehouse, which was a fantastic deal. The unit arrived on time and was repackaged, minus the booklet, but other than that this recorder was brand spanking new and I would most certainly purchase from Amazon Warehouse as used again in the future. My podcast is ‘Finding Subjects Podcast’ and can be found wherever you listen to podcasts. Also here: Www. FindingSubjects.org If you listen to Episode 3 Season 2, Solari...Oh Oh, you can hear the Rolands recordings. All of the train sounds, the clicking of the Solari board, me interviewing the people, all of that was recorded on the Roland R-07. The other dialog of me narrating is the Zoom H6. The Roland is exactly what I’ve been searching for and will be making the trip overseas for recordings in England, Ireland, Scotland. If you want a high quality, portable recorder that fits in your pocket? You don’t be disappointed with the Roland R-07 PS: in the above photos you will see the size verses an iPhone 6S. Also, you will see where I placed small pieces of electrical tape over the recording lights so when I interview people on the street they don’t get overwhelmed by the recording process.

I use this to record my lectures and the sound quality is outstanding. I highly recommend this for that purpose. It is probably also excellent for recording interviews.

The Roland R-O7 is a powerful, very compact recorder for a wide variety of audio uses. For my needs, I find the remote features transform the use of this high-quality recorder, making it much easier to use to get good recordings and opening up new ways to use the recorder. I can't stress enough how useful it is to be able to PUT THE RECORDER WHEREVER IT NEEDS TO BE TO GET THE BEST RECORDING. So, yeah, all caps. The small size and relative ease of use also make it easy to carry and use the Roland R-07. REMOTE CONTROL MEANS BETTER RECORDINGS AND MORE USES: For me, the remote control app works well and was fairly intuitive. Remote control opens up a great deal of additional flexibility in using the recorder. - It's easy to put the recorder in a location that's best for the recording quality. One isn't limited to choosing a location where you can locate yourself, watch the device, etc. - Once placed, the recorder is fairly unobtrusive and doesn't distract from a meeting or event. Others in a group or audience aren't distracted by someone checking or adjusting the recorder. - Not needing to touch the recorder for key controls means none of the usual noise one gets when handling a recorder. LESS STRESS, MORE ATTENTION: Events happen only once, and it can be stressful worrying about getting a good recording. One of the very important, non-technical aspects of being able to control the recorder remotely is that it cuts way down on stress. There's far less worry about whether the recording is working - it's easy to check. And that means I can devote much more attention to following a discussion, participating in a meeting, or watching a performance. AUTOMATIC GAIN CONTROL ADDS TO EASE OF USE: For spoken recordings, the automatic gain control seemed to work well. There's sometimes a very short, noticeable transition (for example, between someone nearby speaking loudly to someone farther away speaking quietly). But that seems unavoidable to me. And it's great to be able to "set and forget" the recorder, just checking on it occasionally using the app. Obviously for music, automatic gain control can create serious problems with a recording, so normally one would need to take the time to set the levels. WELL-DESIGNED INTERNAL MICROPHONES: The internal mics seem to do a very good job. As far as I can tell, they are not strongly directional and err on the side of capturing every sound in the room/space. That's probably the right design choice for this type of recorder. And if you prefer another approach, you can use an external mic. SUPPORTS EXTERNAL MICROPHONES: There is of course a jack for an external mic. It appears it can provide power, if you switch on mic power in the menu. Being able to choose powered mics greatly expands the choices and quality. HIGH-RESOLUTION RECORDING: I'm not currently using the high-resolution features, though it's good that they are included here. Keep in mind that they can greatly increase file sizes. Also, as far as I can tell the consensus is that, unless your using your recording as a source for further editing and mixing of music, there's little reason to use the higher sample rates (88.2khz, 96khz) or the 24 bit depth. aptX BLUETOOTH: The ancient, standard Bluetooth specs take a toll on audio quality. So if you have devices that use aptX Bluetooth, such as headphones, this Roland recorder will support higher audio transmission quality. (Apple does not support aptX.) MUCH BETTER THAN AN IPHONE FOR RECORDING: I find the Roland R-07 to be far superior to using an iPhone XR, even for voice recordings: - The Roland produces an very good stereo recording. The iPhone produces a so-so mono recording, where it can be hard to hear some parts of a recording. - The automatic gain control on the Roland works well at picking up a range of sounds - near or far, amplified or un-amplified. - Using the combination of the phone and the Roland recorder lets me set the recorder down, keep an eye on things from the app, and still use my phone. Though I will say the speaker on the iPhone is far better than the built in speaker on the Roland R-07. SIGNIFICANT CUSTOMIZATION: Scene settings (presets) can be modified. I do find the standard scenes useful, but most people will want to adjust some of the settings to fit their own needs. SMALL SIZE: For the performance it offers, the Roland R-07 is very small - about 2 inches by 4 inches by 1 inch. That is much smaller than a phone, though thicker. The small size also means the controls are on the smaller side, but the controls are easy to use once you get familiar with them. And I'd think most people prefer the small size. So I wouldn't consider the small size to be a negative for most people. SUPPORT? Complex, modern devices with computers and software built in often need updates. I can't comment from my own experience on how good Roland is about updating the firmware over time. But strong ongoing support is clearly a critical element of building a loyal customer base for devices like this, so I hope Roland can provide that. SLOW FILE TRANSFERS: It is a shame that file transfers using the USB port are so slow. I got about 1.6MB per second, or 100MB per minute. It's not inconvenient for my use - I don't mind using a card reader for large files - but I can see how it could be for some users. So it's hard to understand as a design choice. ALMOST USELESS SPEAKER: At this point, my biggest issue is that the built-in speaker is almost useless. Maybe that's due to the small size, or cost contraints - but even for voice recordings, the internal speaker is not very usable.

This recorder is expensive, but the audio recording quality is much better than what you can get from an inexpensive portable recorder or from connecting a microphone to your cell phone. Two built-in microphones allow you to record in stereo or you can attach an external stereo microphone. A tripod mount and Bluetooth remote control let you mount the recorder on stage and control it remotely. The recorder is very compact and lightweight for easy use in the field. Battery life is great and it takes standard AA batteries if you need more power. As others have pointed out, data transfer speeds via the USB cable are disappointing. High resolution audio files are large. I just take the memory card out and read the files into my computer with a USB card reader. I do this with photos and videos from my SLR camera as well.

This is a wonderful device. The mics sound great, the 'verb is great, the ergonomics are ok, battery life is very good, and the size is perfect. I've made many recordings of my Cordoba GK and the ability to play back on Bluetooth devices is really something that makes the R07 stand out. I also own or have owned several Zoom and Tascam mini-recording devices (H1, H2, H4, etc.). They are all pretty good but the R07 is a step up with features and form-factor.
