I love these Teckin Wifi Smart Plugs and once I got them connected, controlling them through Google Home was easy to set up. I like the clean, hi-tech look. I initially had trouble getting the devices recognized by my Wifi router and emailed customer service where I was soon very ably assisted by Jim, who supplied some links for my Xfinity router's technical operations and answered my questions in a series of email exchanges. You may want to be able to access your router through a web browser, as I did (using the 10.0.0.1 address), so you can identify these devices and modify settings as necessary. Regarding the requirement for 2.4 ghz Wifi, please note that most 5 ghz Wifi routers like mine also have 2.4 ghz channels available, and getting the router to recognize and add a 2.4g device can be tricky. I found that placing the Smart Plugs physically near the router during the setup procedure is helpful, but once connected the plugs can be placed in their intended usage position and will work fine. In the Smart Life software I found the manual "AP Mode" method of adding the devices to be more effective than the passive scanning method. I will be buying more Teckin Smart Plugs because they're an excellent value and they work exactly as designed.

I'm new to the smart home stuff, but I am loving my Alexa Dot, and wanted to take the next step up to smart outlets, smart light bulbs and even try the LED strip lighting. :) So I'm trying an assortment to see which works best for me. These plugs are great because of their size, they don't waste an outlet (which is good because my family has devices and cords everywhere so no outlets to spare!) I like the horizontal style and I'll attach photos so you can see what I mean. The indicator light is easily viewable next to the manual On/Off button, and these plugs feel sturdy and well made. They work with the app/skill Smart Life, and even for a novice like me they were a breeze to set up in the Smart Life app, just hold the On/Off button til the light flashes rapidly and then scan in the app for new devices. Rename it to suit your purposes, for instance I have one called "Coffee" so I can say Alexa, turn my Coffee on, and she triggers the outlet to turn on which starts my ready to go coffee maker and I can get coffee going without getting out of bed. Total bonus for a hardcore coffee drinker ;) I haven't finished the next step of setting it up through Alexa yet, but that will be done tonight! I'm very happy with this purchase, they are good, easy to set up and reasonably priced smart outlets taking me one step further into my smart home goals!

This is our third pair over 2 years. Not replacing them, but wanting more! We use them for our outdoor lighting via Alexa, and they are covered but still in the elements of Houston weather. (Hot and Wet!) Reception is very good but can vary between individual units. Occasionally they may lose sync, but a reboot of the plugs and resync with the app fixes it. (2 times in a year and a half) Easy to group in both the App and Alexa, so we can turn on the lights on the way home. They way exceeded our expectations, especially at this price! The original ones are still going strong, but we keep finding more uses. These were purchased for the holiday decorations. Worked well for both Halloween and Christmas. Such an easy answer to "Honey, did you turn off the Christmas lights?" "Alexa, turn off Holiday." :)

Setup is very easy when following the directions in the box. These plugs only operate on 2.4 ghz WiFi band, which is perfectly fine. If you have a modern router that has 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz bands, ensure the device you're using the set up the plugs is connected to the 2.4 ghz band. Once setup is complete, you can go back to using the 5 ghz band. I use it with Google and they work like a charm. Currently using with my Christmas Tree. I named the plug "Christmas Tree" in the plug's app. Once I linked to my Google Home account, the name carried over. Now at home I just say, "Hey Google, turn on (or off) the Christmas Tree." Google very quickly understands what I want and executes the command. If I'm in a different room I can ask, "Hey Google, is the Christmas Tree on?" It'll respond appropriately. I can also speak to Google Assistant on my phone when I'm anywhere (home or not) and it works and responds exactly the same. Love the plug. Hoping I can find a use for the second one. My only complaint? I wish I could set a timer or execute smarter commands using Google. For instance, I wish I could say, "Hey Google, turn on the Christmas Tree at 5:30 pm." Or, "Hey Google, turn off the Christmas Tree in 1 hour." But those would be limitations of Google and not these outlets. You can set timers using their app.

Work well! Pros: -Super certified in safety (UL listed especially) -Pairing was surprisingly easy. -Remote operation is very quick and responsive, especially for my bad wifi signal. -Only take up one outlet! (Love this. SO many other wifi outlets are huge for no reason) -Energy monitoring seems to be accurate Cons: None as far as operation. This is the one smart outlet that has it all. I just wish that it worked with Homekit. Would've loved to have added these to my Homekit smart home. But overall, i'm just satisfied that I found outlets that have all the features AND are safety certified. I might buy one of the other assistants to operate these.

Honestly, I bought these because of the price and the fact that two of them can fit on wall outlet. It's perfect. If you use a power strip you can fit even more together. Previously, I bought the Wsky Smart Plugs and could not get them to setup at all. Don't waste your time with those. I also bought the TP-Link Mini smart plugs and these worked great but the price for one of these is 75% of the price for two of these. If you have connected devices to Alexa before then these are very straight forward. Download the Smart Life App from the Google Store to your phone. A very nice well designed app on its own. Register for a Smart Life account. Discover and setup the smart switch on a 2 GHz wi-fi network. (Most inexpensive devices seem to be using on 2 GHz networks). and then test it. When this step is complete don't close the app just minimize it, and assuming you have the Alexa app installed, install the Smart Life skill. You'll be asked for you login and password to the Smart Life app. After entering these, you'll be connected to Alexa. just finish the setup questions from the Alexa app and then your all set. If you've connected things to Alexa before this is all straight forward. If you haven't don't become discouraged because once you're done you'll have loads of options for room device control and a very reasonable price.

Works great with Google Assistant. Seems to handle High current devices fine. I needed my d-to-a to go on first, then my amps. I needed amps to go OFF first, then wait a few seconds, then turn off d-to-a. Otherwise, nasty speaker pop, not good for speakers. I connected power strip for the three amps to one of these outlets. Connected d-to-a to the other one. I created a "scene" in Home Life for turning on, and another scene for turning it all off. The Home Life app includes a delay function, which made it easy to do the delay between turning off amps and turning off d-to-a. Once those Scenes worked, I created 2 "routines" in Google Home, one to call the turn on scene and one to turn off. It works great. Update: learning more about these; found small bugs. It seems that the "timer" function is a TOGGLE only. You can't choose to delay a few seconds then turn OFF; if the device happens to be OFF when you start, it will delay the specified time then turn back on. This could be improved, to have separate "timer OFF" and "timer ON". Also - there seems to be no way to remove a step from a scene. If you need to remove a step, I think you must delete the scene and re-enter it. Also - I had some problems with Google Home "forgetting" my custom routines (this may have nothing to do with the Smart Plug, just a bug in Google). I removed the routines and added them back, and now it works again.
