I like that this toy has a lot less plastic than most of her others. The wood is not as easy to clean as plastic, but is certainly more appealing. My granddaughter is 2 1/2 and her motor skills are a bit behind, but she has fun fitting the coins in the slots. And pushing buttons is absolutely her favorite thing. There are many teaching opportunities when playing. We work on colors and counting certainly, but also her fine motor skills. She tries very hard and stays surprisingly focused. I think it's because the reward is opening the drawer and finding the coins. If I need her to leave whatever room she's in or to stop bothering whatever dog she's trying to "hug," all I have to do is push the yellow button to open the cash drawer and she'll come running. Melissa and Doug toys are, by far, my favorites.

We absolutely love Melissa and Doug's handmade toys around here. They are so high quality and are really well thought out as far as educational and fine motor skills learning. This cash register is no exception. It is made of all wood, which gives it a really fun heirloom-toy quality that I know will last. The toy is simple enough for your youngest learner to have fun threading in the little coins and pulling the lever to open the drawer, yet still detailed enough for an older child to really have fun "playing store" with all the functionality. With an older child, you can also use it to learn simple math (This banana costs $4, which two coins should I use?) The credit card gives another fun feature that kids enjoy, especially seeing their parents swipe at real stores. I would definitely recommend this cash register for great family fun.

I love the way this toy updates a classic, merging the classic older-style cash register with modern details like the debit/credit card. I also appreciate the primarily-wooden construction, which is more aesthetically pleasing than all-plastic toys. The toy, which comes with three plastic coins and a plastic "credit card," says it's for ages three and up. As far as I can tell, the primary reason for the age cutoff is that the #1 and #2 coins are small enough to be choking hazards. (Although you'll notice they have holes drilled in them. Presumably that's to minimize the danger if a younger child should get them lodged in his throat.) The #3 coin seems to be large enough to be safe, so I tucked the other two coins away for later and my 15-month-old has been playing with the cash register. My 5-year-old and 7-year-old are enjoying it right along with her.

I love Melissa & Doug toys, and this cash register is no exception. Sturdy wood construction gives it a timeless look that makes you feel your children's grandchildren will be playing with the toy one day (even though they may not know what a cash register even is by that time!) Three simple color coded levers spin the pictures and deposit the money while another lever opens the cash drawer the money drops down into. A play credit card makes a clickety-clack sound as you swipe it in the slot and the top of the register. Another great toy that will be enjoyed by any toddler.

All of my kids love this cash register. Good quality and fun to play with.

extremely well made and durable. M&D make good stuff.

My three kids (oldest is 4, youngest is 1) absolutely loved this toy as soon as I got it. I love how it's so simple--there's only 5 pieces to the toy (1 x cash register, 3 x coins, 1 x credit card). Some toy companies advertise how great a toy is because it's got so many pieces. Don't be fooled, the more pieces, the worse the toy--at least from a parent's perspective. After a week when your kids no longer enjoy the toy as much, you're going to end up having pieces everywhere. In this aspect, this toy is great. Very simple and addicting to the kids cause they can push a button let the coins drop. The swiping of the credit card has a nice feel to it because of the ridges they've put on it. My only gripe with it is that my kids stopped playing with it after a week after fighting over the toy non-stop during that week. That being said, this is normal with most of the toys I get my kids so it's not surprising. Overall I love this toy and my kids love it even more. For $25 it's a steal and your kids will love it also. I highly recommend.

This is a really cute cash register toy. Because it's mainly wood, not only does it give a nostalgic feel, but it's much higher quality toy than it's plastic counterparts. The colors are bright, the little wheels turn when the lever is pushed down and when you slide the credit card through the slot it makes a fun clicking sound. There are three coins with numbers that correspond to the number on the slots. There are a few negatives. There should be more coins. If they get lost, that would be it. Also, the drawer doesn't ding like most other cash registers. That's a bit of a bummer, but not a deal breaker. *Please be aware that the coins are too small for children under three.

Bought this for my 2 1/2 year old grandson and he loves it. Plays with it all the time in conjunction with his new kitchen. Excellent quality and value.

Our grandsons loved getting this for a gift. I would recommend this for 2-5 year olds. It's a great toy!
