Best budget phone that operates like it's expensive
I have always loved the Motorola G series. I've had it since the G3 after doing away with the "other big cellphone manufacturer." Just a note: it does not come charged, and you will have to do a hard reset to turn it on the first time. You will hold the volume down button with the power button for a minute or so. This kind of caught me off guard. Since Amazon did away with the lock ads, it's cheaper to buy it through them while the apps don't take up much space (I use most of them anyway). The fingerprint sensor is smaller than the g5, but equally effective. Large screen, and more narrow than the g5 which is better for my female hands. The audio on this phone kicks butt (thanks Dolby audio). Camera is good quality and fast. And, as all Motorolas are, it has a SD card to put your apps or pictures on. Overall, I love this phone and recommend it to everyone (husband recently switched over and says he'll never to back).

Wonderful phone and a great value
I upgraded from a G4 non-Prime to the G6 Prime version, and waited a few weeks to use it before writing the review. So far, it's well worth the upgrade (I would imagine skipping a generation was part of the noticeable difference). The G6 is a lot of phone for the low price. I know the $800 flagships are premium with better cameras, etc. but having never used one, I don't know the difference and for my needs, really don't need premium features. For $250 or so this phone is all the average user needs. I use it mainly for the phone, texting, email, Facebook, camera, and few special apps like aviation weather. It works flawlessly. No crashes, no lag so far that I can tell. I don't play games on it but have watched YouTube videos and they run smooth and look great. It took a couple days to get used to using the fingerprint sensor/button for swiping to go back, etc. but now it feels natural and easy so I turned off the three display buttons and don't miss them at all. And unlocking with the fingerprint is wonderful. I also use Lastpass for password management and set it for fingerprint authentication when I need to enter a password; it works wonderfully, as well. As others have mentioned, the phone is very slippery being all glass, so I have an $8 Cimo case on it and that works great. The camera is noticeably better than the G4, with clearer pictures and less shutter lag, though some lag is definitely still there. It's fine for most shots but action shots can be a little annoying. Being a photographer, I carry a camera most of the time anyway, so the phone camera is just for convenience here and there. I think most of us who like to spend this price range for a phone won't mind it. Regarding the Prime version, I'm a Prime member so I don't mind having Amazon apps preinstalled - you can move them around to different screens or create a folder and put them all in it like I did. There are no lock screen adds, so you'd never know it's a Prime phone, really. Well worth the slightly lower price. So over all I love the G6 and plan to get about 2 years out of it like I did with the G4. If you spread out the cost over two years, it's about $10/month vs. the flagships being $30-40/month. Can't beat that for a basic everyday phone! Oh, and I love that they added a magnometer to this generation - I can finally use compass apps. That's nice. Note - if you're upgrading from an older gen like the G3 or G4, this phone won't take the same sim card. My G4 used a micro sim and this one uses the smaller nano sim. I got my new one for $5 at Verizon. If you're looking for a good, basic smart phone, I definitely recommend the G6!

Review from iphone owner switching to Android for the first time
Wow is all I can say. I have gone to the dark side as i have been an iPhone guy and this is my very first Android. I broke the screen on my iPhone 6s and since it took a few days to get it repaired, I went ahead and ordered this phone. Since Amazon is great with returns, and offered 1 day shipping, I decided to try it out, knowing, that if the phone was significantly inferior to what I'm used to, I could always return it for a refund. When I turned the phone on, it guided me through getting all of my contacts from my iPhone. It was super simple. I just downloaded Google drive, backed up the information, and then when I signed in with this phone, it automatically loaded up into the new phone. I was also able to get every one of the apps I love loaded on this phone without issues. From the home screen you can just use the search bar to search for your app and it automatically loads it up for you. I wasn't expecting much, but was blown away that the phone is so capable when compared to an iphone. I noticed that some reviews mentioned that their phones were hot when charging. If you experience this I would recommend exchanging the phone as this may be a defect. Mine stays cool to the touch and has never felt hot. Here are some pros 1. The screen is bright and clear. I held it side by side with my iPhone and the picture was very comparable. 2. The size is great. This phone is just slightly larger than the iPhone 6s but the screen is way bigger. I was concerned that it would be a phablet, but rest assured it is not. The screen just goes almost to the edges so there is no wasted space. 3. The speed is great and internet pages load up right away. Idid some speed tests with my iPhone 6s when I got it back (changed the battery as well why they had it open) to see if there was a difference. When I turned on both phones at the same time, the iphone's home screen came up about a 1/2 second sooner. The same thing happened with every app I opened, the 6s was a hair faster. Not enough of a difference to justify paying 2 to 3 times more for an iPhone, Especially when you consider that the screen on the Moto is much bigger. 4. It charges pretty fast and has double the storage of the stock iPhone 6s. Also, it integrates seemelessly with Google drive. I'm not exactly sure how this is possible, but after loading all the apps pictures, and contacts, the phone was still showing 23gb of space while my 16gb iPhone showed only 400mb of space available. 5. I didn't have to load up Google maps because it was already preloaded. 6. Very affordable and solid. Cons from iPhone owner's perspective 1. Does not communicate with my Apple watch or Apple TV. 2. Ths volume is lower than the iPhone. This is not an issue during normal conversations, but if talking while in a noisy area using the phone, it may be noticeable. 3. You'll have to get a bunch of new charging cables. I probably have about 8 lightning ones around the house, cars, and work that will no longer be of any use. 4. I wasn't able to download my videos that I had purchased through apple. However, I was able to convert my songs without much of an issue. Taking everything into account, I'm extatic with the purchase. I can buy phones for the whole family for the cost of one iPhone. I included a side by side with my iPhone so that you can see how close in size it is to the iPhone 6s, while having a much larger screen In conclusion, I loved my experience with iphone's. If I could get an iPhone at the same price as this phone, I would hands down, take the iPhone. However after trying this phone out, there is no possible way that I can continue justifying paying 2 to 3 times more for an iPhone. At least for me, it's not enough of an upgrade over this phone, especially after verifying that I will still have access to all of my apps.

The sweet spot of quality vs. price.
This phone hits the sweet spot of quality vs. price. It has all the important and essential features you need, and skips the stuff that isn't important from the high-end flagship phones. It works on every US carrier. You can spend more another Android phone but are unlikely to get one much better than this. Note: Review is for the unlocked G6, but not a Prime Exclusive G6. - Very solid build quality. It doesn't feel super premium the way a Galaxy or iPhone does, but it feels high end and looks great. - The camera is much improved from the Moto G4. Practically speaking this is the biggest improvement in the phone. The camera no longer feels low-end. The new camera features like spot color work easily. The main weakness of previous MotoG phones have been addressed. - Performance is very good. No lag, everything is responsive. - Screen looks great. - The screen size is narrower than before. This is not an improvement IMO and does take a bit of an adjustment. But after a day or two it's irrelevant. - As in the past, the Moto gestures are super handy. These are simple and immediately useful. - Fingerprint scanner and facial recognition work without a hitch. - USB-C is very nice to have, and fast charging is appreciated. A standard headphone jack is nice to have too. - Motorola continues to run a clean version of Android with only a couple Moto utilities added on. This is far better than most other manufacturers like Samsung. - The biggest negative is the back of the phone. Yes it looks nice. But it's glass, which is pointless and a liability. And the back has curved edges that are so smooth the phone is easy to slip through your hand. Thankfully both of these things are handled but getting a case for the phone. - I read that people don't like how Motorola doesn't promise more than one updated Android version. If this is important to you, you pretty much have to spend 2 or 3 times what this device costs. This seems a minor complaint IMO. You will get a solid 18-36 months out of this phone before you start to feel ready for something new and improved.

Excellent phone - Feels more premium than the G5s Plus - Works on Sprint
I switched from the Moto G5s Plus to this phone, which I was also very fond of. In terms of hardware the G6 is more of a sidegrade than an upgrade, and actually has 1 GB less ram than the G5. I was disappointed to see that they didn't offer this phone in a 4gb version. Although the hardware hasn't really been improved the increased screen size and slimmer profile of the phone make it feel a lot more premium than the g5. I also like the addition of a USB-C charger, and of course the upgrade from android 7.0 to 8.0. Overall the phone looks great and is very responsive. I was hesitant to purchase this phone because many reviews say it doesn't work on Sprint. I can tell you that this is not true. The phone works perfectly on Sprint. I'd imagine the other reviewers received the wrong sim card for the device. The sim you want is item number 760492035279. When you initially install it it will say invalid sim. This is because the sim has not been activated by Sprint, not because it is incompatible. Once the Sprint rep activates the sim card you will get a few notifications saying your device is configuring to the Sprint network. Once that is complete the invalid sim error will go away and the phone will work like normal.

Premium Phone
I ordered this on Thursday, May 30th. I got it Friday, June 1st. I was using a Moto G5(s) Plus. When I saw this was coming out, I couldn't wait to buy it. I'm using the phone now as I type this review. Pros: Price Screen Size Screen Resolution USB C Port Fast Charging Stock Android Experience Moto Key Navigation (One Button Nav Feature) Android 8.0 Oreo Out Of The Box SD Card Slot Snappy Performance Cons: No Notification LED Light Camera Could Be Better 32GB Internal Memory No Cases From Speck, OtterBox, SupCase, Bodyglove, Caseology, or even Motorola/Lenovo themselves Lack Of Updates when they are released (this is on all Motorola Android phones) No NFC (although this isn't a deal breaker for me) As I have never used Android pay or even Samsung pay when I had a galaxy. When I worked at Walgreens I noticed people who paid that way it took even longer than just inserting their chip or swiping their card. **Will update my review as I continue to use the phone. So far so good!

Best in class phone for the non selfie obsessed user!
Fantastic phone for the price. For those who hate that phone prices are sky rocketing due to cameras you never use this is the phone for you (though the camera is still pretty darn good). Alexa integration, phones specific gestures (the double shake for flashlight is a new favorite feature I never knew I wanted) and a nice clean android UI make this an easy favorite of phones I've had over the years with my prior phone being a Samsung S6 Edge. This phone has the stats it will handle anything you realistically throw at it and proves there is no reason phones need to be sitting at prices over $500 all due to a camera only the selfie obsessed population uses.

Definitely one of the best mid-range Android phones of 2018!
I bought this because I needed a new device to hold me over until the 2019 flagship phones get released. This is my first Motorola, I didn't love the design of the G5/5s/5s+ because of the plastic back and the large oval finger print scanner. But this year's version is much nicer looking with the glass back, smaller fingerprint scanner, and 18:9 aspect ratio. I wish Motorola would have released the G6 Plus in the US, because I would've liked to have had a faster processor (Snapdragon 630 on G6 plus vs the Snapdragon 450 on G6). That being said, this phone is really snappy. I use my phone quite a lot, usually bouncing in between 3 or 4 apps at once and this phone really performs. It's impressive to me that you can buy such a good device for $250. I believe that for the most part, a good mid-range phone like the G6 is equal to a flagship device from a few years ago. My other phone is a Galaxy S7 and it's not noticeably faster than the Motorola. The camera is decent, it's good for capturing daytime shots. In places that aren't well lit, the images are not as good. The camera app has a lot of cool options and different features that you can have fun with. There is some shutter lag, which I don't like. This phone does have dual rear facing cameras (12MP+5MP with f/1.8 and f/2.2) but the secondary sensor is ONLY for portrait mode. That allows you to blur the background when you take a picture of something, so that the main object (usually a person) will be in focus but the background will be blurry. A bokeh effect. It can record video up to 1080p@60fps. The front facing selfie is 8MP f/2.2 and has it's own flash! This one can do 1080p@30fps. Some other key differences from higher priced phones is this guy has no wireless charging, no NFC for mobile payments, and it's not waterproof. It has a P2i nano coating that is supposed to allow for some slight splash resistance, but it's definitely not IP68 certified. However, I'd like to point out that this is common among phones in this price range. It does have fast charging AND a USB C port! It also has expandable storage using micro SD up to 256 GB. The display is a 5.7 inch 1080x2160 IPS LCD and looks great. The speaker gets really loud, but they use the earpiece at the top of the phone as the main and only speaker, but whatever, it sounds ok. Also has the standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Bluetooth 4.2, mobile hotspot, WiFi direct, and dual band 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi. But doesn't support 802.11 ac, which is unfortunate. The G6 runs Android Oreo 8.0 out of the box. The software is light, which I really like, the changes that Motorola has made are really useful, and their version is really similar to a pixel or nexus phone. I really like the gesture navigation, the fingerprint scanner doubles as a capacitive touch button, so it can be used for screen navigation. Swipe left to go back, tap for home, swipe right for recent app screen. I think it's great. The other really nice feature is Moto gestures- a double karate chop movement turns on the flashlight, a screen twist opens the camera app. It has a kind of always on display, where it shows the time and battery level. You can reply to texts without unlocking the phone. I wish I could put some of these features on my non-motorola devices! I'm so happy that this phone turned out to be as good as my research suggested. I would highly recommend this phone to anyone who wants a new Android phone and can't afford the $800+ cost of a new Samsung, Pixel, or LG and don't want to roll the dice on a refurbished phone. You will be glad you did. Update- 4 months later and this phone is still working perfectly. I was looking through the reviews and noticed a lot of negative 1 star reviews. There is one where the reviewer is complaining about a purple screen. If you turn on "developer options", there is a "show layout bound options" toggle. That is definitely what happened to that G6, and could have been reversed with one tap. As for all the bad reviews about connectivity, I have had no problems with bluetooth. I use a pair of BT headphones at my job every single day, and never get bad reception or a dropped connection. Wifi works fine with no problems. I haven't seen any evidence of texts or calls not getting sent through to the phone. I have noticed when I'm home and on the mobile network, I will have a Hspa+ connection (4G), instead of a faster LTE connection that I normally get with my samsung. But that is the only issue and 99% of the time I have an LTE connection in the appropriate places. Amazon DOES NOT sell used phones passed off as new ones, even if third parties on the site do, this is a "shipped from and sold by Amazon" device. I still stand by my 5 star review and am happy I decided to buy it. Motorola has been relatively consistent with the security patches. Battery is great, 5-6hrs of screen on time. Charges up fully in about 45 minutes. TLDR- This is a great phone and well worth $250. I LOVE my G6 and that's why I took the time to write a long review. I want people to know that they can get this phone and shouldn't worry about the bad reviews being true. Some people are clumsy and others are ignorant, unfortunately both those types of people love to write reviews.

GREAT value phone: No longer Ad-Locked, but still has preinstalled Amazon apps
received Prime exclusive phone ($15 off retail which pretty much just takes care of the sales tax) although buying with an Amazon credit card can score you an additional discount (up to 5% equivalent cash or amazon discounts). the phone is built nice with new 18:9 ratio screen. USB-type C for charging is nice as well. camera is upgraded from before with pseudo-AI features (which i don't really plan to use). expandable storage. works on both GSM (AT&T/T-Mobile) and CDMA (Verizon for sure, possibly Sprint as well). has both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi. remember these amazon phones no longer have the Ad-Lock screens BUT they do come pre-installed with amazon apps that cannot be uninstalled. personally i don't find them cumbersome and can be removed from your home screen so they are not in the way. it is a small "price" to pay for a discounted phone plus has Alexa AND Google Assistant built in if you use that sort of thing.

I had the moto g4 and the moto g5 plus before this phone and the moto g6 is the best yet out of all of them
I had the phone now for about 9 days so I will tell you what I think. I had the moto g4 and the moto g5 plus before this phone and the moto g6 is the best yet out of all of them. For everyday use you can't beat this phone for it is easy to use the performance is great the quality of the phone is on the high end there is no lag and the 5.7 screen is great. The speaker is a lot better than the others and the camera quality is great. Motorola support is great when you call them about a question you have are a concern are anything about the phone. I will give this phone a rating of 5. I Love this phone. For the price you will not find a better high end quality phone. I love the moto g series line.
