Needed a single burner for our new house till we could get our cooktop installed & working. Works great! Gets super hot for boiling water & has several degrees from warm to hot. Actual cooking surface not big enough for large skillets but otherwise perfect for our needs.

I love this little cooktop, my oven broke last week, and due to the ice and snow it is taking longer to order a part for it, so when my cooktop arrived today I was so excited. Now I can boil water for spaghetti, and make my tea, I'm really pleased with this item. Packaging was excellent.

Easy to keep clean. Heats very fast. If you are doing simple cooking- heating, boiling, sauteeing, it is superb. I can regulate the heat to cook rice, omlettes, quite easily.

Not too large to carry along as a portable. Works well for everything I have tried

Works very well, cleans easily. I had tried an induction burner, but that limited the pots I could use, was noisy, and released a toxic smell, so I returned it. In contrast, this compact burner has been very easy to use and efficient. I unplug it when not in use, just to be sure that it is not accidentally left on. Some people commented that it turns itself off when cooking-- but when the light goes out it is maintaining the temperature-- if I want it hotter I just turn the setting up. The one complication, compared to, say, a gas burner with a flame, is that if I use a large pot the edges that are not directly over the heating area do not warm up, so to cook evenly it is necessary to move the pan around-- but it's easy enough too just use a pan that matches the diameter of the burner. I have had it a couple of months and am very happy with it.

This little, single-burner cooktop is a gem! It heats up pretty fast, and is simple to clean. And it looks really sharp! BOILING TEST (elevation 741'): With a cold burner, 1 quart of cold tap-water, and a cold pan (6.5" diameter w/ a cover), it took only 6 minutes to first bubbles, and 9.5 minutes to a rolling boil. NO PROBLEM WITH UNIT OVERHEATING: While the water was boiling, I carefully picked the whole thing up and slowly moved it to a different location. No problem. (I wouldn't have wanted to stand there holding it; but it wasn't going to burn me.) When I was done cooking, after about 3 minutes I could easily hold the unit. DURABILITY: Too early to tell. POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENT: An indicator light (to the left) to show whether the power switch is on, especially since the on-off switch doesn't have any "catch" to keep it from being turned on accidentally. (The light to the right tells you when the heating-unit cycles on and off, but not whether or not the power is on. Conclusion: We're definitely going to buy another one. :\)ick

Didnt want a tacky burner, well worth the money. Made the bar cart kitchen set up look a lot more like a real kitchen.

I debated with replacing my dead cooktop with induction or infrared. I went with infrared because some people are concerned about the "magnetic fields" of induction and I use this in an AirBnB. This arrived and compared to my old double hotplate, this thing is gorgeous! A much smaller footprint on the counter but the size and spacing of the burners is actually better. Peeled the plastic covers off the burners, plugged it in, switched it on, and the infrared burners glowed to life with no chemical smell despite the warning on the labels. My only concern is there's an "extra" on/off switch on the back left corner of the unit (in addition to the on/off of the burners). I'm using in an AirBnB and it will be interesting to see how many people can find the PRIMARY on/off switch and how many people accidentally leave it on. But, the smooth burners should clean much more easily than the cast iron burners and the infrared glow makes it much easier to see that the burner is actually on. Hopefully it will last as long as the burners it replaced.

Works great. Heats up faster than my stove and temperature dial is very good

I bought this to cook oatmeal and stir fry vegetables in motel rooms while traveling as my wife is on a special diet, and doesn't do well in restaurants. It heats quickly and can bring 2 cups water to rolling boil in slightly less than 5 minutes. Concerned about the countertops, I measured the surface temperature under the burner while it was on max heat, and it was not hot to the touch (only a few degrees F above the nearby surfaces) and I could slide my hand under the hotplate without getting burned. The bottom of the burner module is about one inch above the counter top with an air space between the counter and the burner. It has two rotating controls: an on/off switch on the left, and a graduated power control (0-7-- max) on the right. The indicator light shows when power is being applied to the burner. It takes about 15 minutes to cool down, wipe and put away. The ceramic surface is great!
