Cooling unit making cracking sound from the compressor

There is a cracking sound from the side of the compressor when exhaust hose is connected,try to reposition the unit but still the same, once the exhaust hose is connected it will start cracking, also I contacted lg and explain the sound to them they ran the model and serial number and after few questions they said it's defective and I should return it back.

The LG Portable Air Conditioning Unit is Very Nice.

This year we've had such an unusually hot summer for our area. With our getting older in age, it's too difficult to put in our window air conditioners without asking for help. So, we recently purchased two (2) of the LG Portable Air Conditioners from our local Home Depot store. We were so pleased with these units we wanted to buy another one but Home Depot was out of stock. When I found this same unit offered on Amazon, I had to take the chance that it'd arrive okay. They are fairly quite and so far, have a great evaporation system - haven't had to empty condensation at all. We use three of the 10,000 BTU units for our 6 room ranch home and they work great for us. I don't rate 5 star often 'cause I don't "love" things but I'm rating it for excellence. We are very pleased and hope to get many years of cooling from these units.

But this now!!!!!

BUY THIS!!! We live in so.cal and of course don't have acike most residents. Well we got hit with an unexpected high heat wave and like others, while not being able to sleep at 3 am with traditional fans, we ordered this online for pick up. We have an unusual living/common area space where the kitchen and living room and family room are all sorta open to each other before the hallway to the bedrooms, so I feared it may not cool down much not being in a square room but I only cared that the living room got cooled the most. After realizing the tube that comes with it is super short and that putting it in the kitchen window didn't really cool much more then the kitchen I decided to put it in the sliding glass door, and being that the panels that come with it didn't meet the heights I just got a thin piece of wood laying around and taped that to the rest of the gap. This is by no means what i'd like this to look like, or a permanent fix... It was 96 inside our home and we and our pets were desperate for quick relief. So ghetto install aside, after about two hours we felt cooled down some and actually slept on the living room floor pretty comfortably. But after waking up 6.5 hours later .. our living room was cold! I actually got up and turned off the floor and oscillating fan and am amazingly impressed given the space it's in, ND next to a doggie door and not sealed that great .. this thing rocked!!!

Works Wonders

We had to order one of these when our central air decided to quit in the middle of August. It works really well and I think it was worth the money we spent. It was simple to install and doesn't take up much space. We have a rather open living/dining/kitchen area, and it keeps all three comfortable. We purchased another unit for our bedroom and keep the rest of the rooms shut. Once we have our central air back up and running, we figure this piece will work perfectly in the garage.

Awesome Ice cold A/C for a FAIR price!

I live in Tampa & purchased this unit for an emergency back-up system for storm/hurricane power outages and I also own several residential rental properties which all have central AC including my primary residence. I recently had a AC compressor blow up and had to use this unit for about 5 days until a new central system was installed. It worked great, blew nice cool air and kept a 20’ x 15’ room very cool, the noise level is reasonable, it’s not super loud or super quiet. I highly reccomend this LG portable unit for a temporary AC supply. I rate it 4.5 stars out of 5.. PS- I have only had it for 30 days, so I do not have a long term time line of use data yet.
