I use action cams mainly for dirt bikes, enduro and motocross, a bit of trail cycling and some scuba dive. My previous camera was GoPro hero 3 silver for the last couple of years now, recently after a very long time I broke it during one of my motocross rides, you can find all of the videos I took online, I wont lie I wanted a brand not GoPro but the prices are just not reasonable, not because its not worth it, but mainly because the competition is getting better and better and most importantly cheaper, for the price of my broken GoPro I could buy 3 or even 4 cheaper cams and this is what I decided to try with this camera. The accessories and attachments itself worth the already half of this cameras price which is good, you get all of the needed mounts, stickers, surfing security, open back, additional closed back, and many more which I dont even know what are they for. As for the camera itself - My car dash-cam which is a totally different brand uses the same UI as this camera, so it seems some big Chinese vendor is doing the software for most of these camera, it is not a complaint but just pointing a fact. Video quality - I did some dry runs during the last two days mainly home and some holding by hand in the car, my conclusion as follows: While staying at the 1080 range, the camera does a fairly good job. When using 1080 with 60 frames I think is the best option available for this camera, for comparison better than my old Gopro 3 silver. When trying to go higher than 1080 - unfortunately it didnt shine and i actually believe its a bit worst than the 1080, in any case not better. Sound quality - Mic is very sensitive, if you plan to do a lot of noise you must use the housing. Wifi - Didnt had the chance to check it out yet but i will give it a try and keep this review updated. Battery life - again since ive only done dry runs for now i have no opinion on real live scenario battery usage, I am not a huge favor of the screen staying on while recording, I assume there is an option to shut it off, havent found it yet, in any case in the accessories package you do get additional battery, i always had 4 batteries while using my gopro, one minus is that i havent found a dual battery charger in the kit so you have to charge each one separately in the camera, not a huge fan of it so i might buy a dual charger for it. My summary - Is it a gopro killer? no, it is not Is it worth buying? Yes, and I will explain why, action camera is a constantly evolving market, something you buy today is lagging behind in the next half a year, same thing as i had with my Gopro 3 silver, is it worth paying 400-500-600$ for something that wont be the top camera in the near future? the answer is no, I did this mistake before and not going to repeat it, this camera is solid, comes with a good accessories kit, good video recording (not best - but good) and it all comes for under 80$ and this is the key feature here, even if ill brakes it in my next few rides i wont feel the same way as braking my gopro, this alone worth the gap. I will update the review with photos and videos later on - small note on this part - Amazon compress the video uploaded to reviews and its not even close to the real resolution the camera shoots, the video reviews people uploaded looks much better in real life.

I took the Apeman to the Florida Keys specifically to practice photography while SCUBA diving. These pictures are from a fairly shallow dive 40- 50 ft. I used an underwater diving rig to mount the camera and 2 LED lights. The clarity is good and in diving mode the color is not bad. I did enhance these photos after I got home but the originals weren't too far off. For the price it's a great little underwater camera. I got everything I needed to take these photos for $200. I think that was a good investment. It's also really easy to use. The instructions are simple and there are plenty of options in the menu.

This is a very good camera for some things (including what I use it for) but not for others. Caveat Emptor. Pros: - I used this for underwater videos and stills in clear water. All images were clear and the color balance (unavoidable wash-out with depth) could easily be corrected on the computer. I never shot videos over about two minutes and for this it worked perfectly especially for the price, thus the five-star review. It's not a DSLR in a housing but it's also under $100! - A couple of times I wanted to shoot videos on land and I found that when the camera wasn't in the case, the audio quality was better than I expected. A pleasant surprise. - The camera uses (I think) the same Sony 12 MP camera module used in drones. So don't bother with the 20 MP setting, which is interpolated. Also don't bother with the 4K video setting. 12 MP and 1080i both look good. - The case seals well and the latch works easily. I think maybe the people who had trouble with the latch had an earlier model. - The included accessory set is huge. The only item missing is an underwater hand grip. Cons (mostly nits): -When the battery is replaced the date and time are reset and have to be re-entered. I wasn't expecting this and my date and time stamps on some images are off as a result. You would think a small capacitor could be added to retain the date and time memory. - When you insert a new memory card you will get an error message. It looks like the card is unsupported. You just have to advance past that and format the card. In my opinion this is poor programming. -The camera has noticeable pincushion distortion (fisheye lens effect). Under water this is not an issue but it will become annoying if you plan on using it indoors or anywhere with straight lines in the frame. - If you shoot long videos out of the water the battery will get very hot. This processor is doing a lot of work, and in the water it stays cool, in air the camera quickly gets warm to the touch. So I wouldn't try using it for continuous recording as a dash cam, for example. If you do then use the vented case and consider adding a cooler. As I said, Caveat Emptor. - It has a motion sensing trigger option but don't consider using it as a trail camera. It won't pick up anything after dark or even in low light. All in all a very good action camera for the price.

The first action camera I owned was the GoPro Hero1. It used two AAA batteries and it had to be specific brand high quality batteries. The GoPro was a battery hog. It could only support up to 2gb SD cards and it shot in standard quality. It also had a viewfinder because there was no screen on it either. I believe it was about $120-$150 at that time. Not too long after I got the Hero1 they released the Hero2 which shot in HD and I was very bummed that I didn’t wait a bit longer before purchasing. I have since been using high end cameras to shoot videos when I’m on trips, but there are times when I’m at the beach, near water, or doing adventurous stuff that I don’t want to bring my high end cameras with me for fear of breaking them. My brothers have the GoPro black and I have used it a few times and really liked them, but just couldn’t justify their price to get one. Especially since I have had friends that have spent $300 on them just to lose them in the ocean. So I finally invested in an Action camera and ended up getting the Apeman Action Camera for the price point. They have a few other versions that are cheaper, but splurged a bit to get the higher end model. I do a lot of videos when I’m on vacation. At $80 for this action cam it has really impressed me. Maybe because I’ve haven’t had that much experience with action cams, but tech has come a long way since my first GoPro. So here’s what I think is amazing on this camera. I’ve only had it for a few days, but it’s quite a powerful pocket size action cam. Supports up to 64gb micro sd. Can rec 4k videos Loop recording option 3,5,or 10 min. Or you can turn it off. It’s a nice option for me cause I edit and cut my videos a lot. Films in 170 140 110 or 70 degree angels. It can be adjusted. My old gopro gave the fisheye effect and was fixed, but it’s nice that you can adjust it on this model. Motion Detection mode, this was a surprise option to find on this camera. I didn’t expect it. The cam will film once it detects motion, but will stop after 10 seconds if it doesn’t detect motion. So I guess you can use for many options. Maybe film your pet at home and see what they’re doing when you’re not home. Wi-Fi not to surprised about this feature because it’s kind of the standard now with cameras, but it’s available on this cam also. The cam comes with a nice foam padded case and a bunch of accessories. Probably more than I will ever use, but it’s nice that it comes bundled with it. Otherwise for $80 I’m making great use of this camera and I didn’t have to break the bank. If I end up losing this camera I wouldn’t feel terribly at a lost since it is a lot cheaper than GoPro. The test videos I shot with it turned out great, but hopefully I’ll be able to use it soon for it’s intended action cam use. Forgot to mention it has 4x optical zoom, which was a surprise to me. Edit: added some test shot with the camera today.

Arrived a day earlier than expected! Which is always a fun surprise. Nice, quality packaging, I was impressed when I opened the box. Came with a sturdy case for storage for not just the camera, but all the accessories it comes with! Accessories for helmets, chest straps, bikes, selfie sticks and stuff I don't even know! Also comes with an extra battery, which was another pleasant surprise. ** It does NOT come with an SD card, I just put the one I purchased in the photo ** My husband and stepson use it when they go mountain biking. Video quality was impressive and they didn't even use it on the highest quality. Honestly, I'm not a big video person, so I don't have much to compare to, but this is more than adequate for us! We're just using it for fun and travel to capture memories. For the price and what we wanted it for, this is perfect! Camera stays in place securely and they have fun with it. We haven't used the waterproof case YET, but I am looking forward to that this summer. Also, I like that I can change the settings for the photos (white balance, ISO, exposure, color/black white, timers... I'm more of a photographer), it's not just an auto setting. It also has an app you can use and connects to WiFi to get photos/videos on your phone. Haven't tried that yet, though. Side note: after order I received an email from the seller letting me know which SD card to use with it, so I was able to purchase it by the time the camera arrived so I could play immediately! Also gives tips on charging it first/how long and other good to knows... links to videos on how to use all the accessories, which is helpful for a newbie like me. I would totally recommend this camera! Thinking about getting a second, actually.
