Takes just a little getting used to but it's pretty cool. I had to remove the nozzle and cut the filament to get it to eject a few times. If you're gonna leave it long enough to idle and turn itself off (a minute or two without running) the filament bunches up a little bit. If it's gonna stay without running that long, make sure you eject the filament completely and just put it back in when you're ready to resume, it'll save you a lot of hassle.

Update: after talking to a wonderful customer service representative, I received a replacement in less than 24 hours. Fantastic customer service and will definitely do business again! Ordered this for my son for his birthday in September and just after the 3rd use of it today it will no longer feed filament into the pen. So very disappointed.

I purchased the main name brand model of 3d pens. (retracted name just incase) And the motor burnt out before i could even use it... I ended up purchasing this as a backup and it turned out so great it is the only pen i need / use! Highly recommend not only the seller but the product!

For a beginner (me), in less than 30 min it was possible to create a simple design. The pen is nice-looking and easy to hold in hand. Support is an important feature to me, and, it was nice to receive an e-mail from the manufacturers with the support e-mail. I have not used it and I think it will not be needed, however is nice to know there is a place where to go in case I need it.

I got this for my son on his birthday and he absolutely loves it. I was afraid that it would jam like so many other pens, but after going through one whole set of the pla refills, it's still going strong. I actually ordered another set of pla refills after he finished through one whole set of them. I would not hesitate recommending this item to anybody getting into the world of 3d printing.

This has got to be the easiest 3D printing pen to get up and running right away. Heats up fast and delivers the plastic at an even flow. No jams or feeding problems and the variety of pla colors was really great. I have used it several times to make repairs to several of my 3D prints instead of the usual super glue as an adhesive. Its also great to fill in voids produced by a badly sliced print.

Got it today. Seems to work pretty good. Did a repair on a print, added hair to my robot, and filled in eyes and mouth on mr.poop. (see pics) Temperatures change with picked speed, but for higher temps and lower speeds with PLA, just use ABS picks. I would like to see a momentary feed switch (press and hold) rather than a push to feed, push to stop. Loading and unloading is simple. Heats up pretty fast. We will se how it goes.

Has display and more buttons than others, which is good. Filament got jammed, but the pen is easy to take apart. The front (where heater is) comes off really easy, just twist and pull off black part and the unplug heater. We got it jammed really bad, probably by trying to force a stuck filament through... There's a screw that holds the motor to the case. We unscrewed that and the pried the black motor/power assembly out the back with a screwdriver (after unplugging the two white power connectors). This let us pull off the clear filament guide tube and pull the very stuck (actually twisted like a screw) filament out of the motor. All better! I don't know how others are but I'll give this 5 stars for being able to completely disassemble fairly easily. Just need small phillips and regular flathead screwdrivers. I'm sure stuck filaments happen a lot and this one makes it fairly easy to fix.

We love the pen. It is easy to use and provides lots of creative ideas. It stopped working shortly after we received it, but the folks at Dikale worked with us to resolve the issue. They didn't stop until we were satisfied, first sending a replacement part, then when that didn't fix the problem, they sent a new unit, which is working fine.

Truth be told, I purchased this pen so that I could do a little crafting for some Halloween presents my daughter could give out. I had wanted to dabble with one of these for a while and the whole "helping my daughter out" angle played perfectly into my plan. Most of these pens seem to be marketed as either "maker" type tools (expensive) or kiddee toys (alarmingly cheap). Since I knew I was going to get the "what are you junking up my dining room table with now" eye from my wife, I decided to go with the Dikale since it seemed like a solid entry-level product with good reviews and a forgivable price. After I received the pen, I unboxed and went to work. Since this is my first 3D pen, so I can't compare to others, but I found the build quality to be good. My understanding is that this type of product is notoriously bad with filament jams, but I haven't had one. The box I received had a healthy pack of starter PLA filaments which have provided a respectable amount of use. The instructions in English were not written by a native English speaker, but I found them to be adequately understandable and informative, especially considering the finnicky nature of this type of product (as I said, no filament jams to date). The controls on the pen are good and well placed for a medium sized hand. There is a feed-forward button used to feed filament onto the project, an unload button to eject unmelted filament when it's time to change colors (or power down) and a mode switch button that allows toggling between plastic typs (PLA or ABS) or feed speed. Since the pen is driven by standard micro-USB, this pen can be operated using the same type of portable battery pack you'd use for your mobile devices. The only real points I can ding the product on are: - Feed speed is biased too much to the higher speeds. This may be good if you are a 3D pen wizard, but I'm not and the slow is a little too slow and the medium is a little too fast for my skill level. The 3rd (and fastest) speed is definitely only for filling space or running long beads. Speed control with 5 or 7 steps, instead of just 3 would be welcome. - On/Off Toggle. Totally get that a simple on/off toggle is what you want when you're doing larger runs of filament, but when working on smaller projects, it would be great to have push-to-feed and release-to-stop. This would help reduce filament waste, especially for noobs like me. I would like to claim I have logged many hours on the product already, but after my 7 year old daughter saw me showing off the pen, she quickly commandeered it and I've barely been able to "borrow it" from her since. She's easily racked up more time than I have on the pen and is getting kinda good at it now. However, I think the simplicity and approachability of the Dikale pen is well illustrated when a 7 year old can pick it up (i.e. steal from dad) and start sketching up a storm. She feels like she can actually *make* toys to play with them - and I couldn't be prouder.
