Excellent Tool!!!!

Excellent product! I note the improvement of the opposing screws for the pencil holder as suggested by a previous buyer. True centre should now be achieved and maintained throught a given scribe. A very practical multi-tool, well thought out, engineered and manufactured with solid materials et al.

Very nice, and they ship an improved version now

An earlier review complained about the problem of the pencil being off-centre due to the single thumb screw, they've now improved this by adding thumb screws on both sides and a metal sleeve for the pencil. You can either screw down the pencil or put it in the sleeve and press down on it, which means you control the depth/pressure. This is really nice to see, it's actually an improved version of the original. In general comments, the main block of metal feels like some type of zinc alloy, the rods look like stainless steel, or at least I hope it's stainless steel since I leave near the sea and generic carbon steel rusts eventually. Not shown in the product photos is that it includes two Allen keys for the thumbscrews, although you probably don't really need those unless you really want to get things tight. Overall, I'm really impressed by this marking gauge/centre finder, wish I knew about this product ages ago, it sure beats my homemade wooden one.
