Impressed!
I bought this to replace both a modem and router because of several glitches over the past few months. Easy installation, like having choice of 2.4 or 5 channel, and very fast. I am not a techie so the simplicity of having one unit doing the job of two was appealing. Have only had it installed for a week, but very happy with the choice. I had used reviews from several on line independent sources before deciding on this particular unit for my needs.

Fast! Online activation for Spectrum was not possible
Great improvement over my previous modem/router! Now I can actually enjoy the internet speed promised by my provider, especially for wifi. One issue though, although it is indicated that this modem is supported by Spectrum, I was not able to activate it myself online, I had the error message that this model was not authorized on Spectrum Network. After calling Spectrum support and talking to 2 different services, the problem was solved in 20 min.

Better than renting! Pay for itself overtime!
I had just moved into a new home and Xfinity is the only game in town. Previously, with FIOS I was renting the modem/router monthly. I told myself that the next company won't get me on that again. Although this is an expensive out of pocket cost now, I know that it will pay for it self down the line. I did a lot of reading and research between the different models and decided on this one. Installation was flawless. I was already connected to the internet even before the tech was able to finishing setting up the cable for the TV. Signal is strong all around the house. No issues/problems thus far. If you find this review helpful, please click 'helpful' button at the end of this product review. Thanks! Edit: Just want to update that the modem have been solid for the last 4 months. Signal is strong covering 3400 sf home.

Great Modem/Router!
The Motorola MG7700 is an awesome modem/router. It replaced an older Netgear N450 modem/router that kept dropping its WiFi connection, and had to be rebooted constantly. The Setup of the MG7700 was very easy, and it did not even require calling Comcast to get it configured. I just went to the activation website and put in my Comcast account information. The MG7700 was connected to the Comcast network within 15 minutes (150 mbps plan). The MG7700 improved the WiFi connection to all of my N and AC wireless devices. I live in a 2400 square foot house and I have multiple RING security cameras around the perimeter of the house. The connection between the MG7700 and all of the RING devices is fast with no dropped connections ever. I also have 3 Rokus, a Samsung Smart TV, a Honeywell thermostat, 3 cell phones, 2 laptops, a tablet, 2 Echo Dots and 3 Amazon smart switches connected intermittently to the MG7700 throughout the day. They all stay connected with outstanding WiFi speeds. In fact my Acer laptop connects by AC wireless at 866 mbps. Most of the N wireless devices connect around 156 mbps, and everything stays connected without any drops. I also have 3 desktop computers (1 is a server) and 1 network printer connected to the 4 ethernet ports with no connectivity issues at all. I have been a Network Administrator for over 20 years, so setting up the MG7700 was really easy for me. For those that need help there are many online websites that show how to "tweak" the settings in the MG7700 for the best Wireless connectivity. Trust me the suggestions do work to maximize the WiFi connections. For security purposes I highly recommend changing the MG7700 user name and password. Also change the SSIDs and their security keys, along with the default IP address of the MG7700. Lastley, make sure that the firewall is turned on. This will keep those prying eyes off of your home network. I have used many Motorola products over the years, and they have all worked great. The MG7700 is no exception. Those individuals leaving bad reviews either do not know how to setup a WiFi router correctly, or just received a lemon (it happens). I highly recommend the MG7700 to anyone that wants a fast, secure and reliable home network.

Delivers on What it Promises
A no hype, wireless gateway, what it says it will do it will. Recently got this because my internet provider (Xfinity) notified me that my internet could go as high as 400Mps and my current modem couldn't handle any more than 260Mbs., upgraded this tried speedtest.net and managed to get as high as a 496Mps. This is also my first modem that supports the ac protocol, by the way, you need to be on the 5Ghz frequency to make use of that, this increased the speeds of my iPhone and iPad which already had the ac protocol built in. I did have to get a Wireless adapter for my computer that supports AC to get the full advantage of the extra speed. Would highly recommend!

Great product! Great to break away from rented equipment
As with most people who have cable service from Xfinity, we have been renting equipment for years. We all know it is a racket but finding the right equipment on your own can be a hit or miss proposition. But after dropping all the services from Xfinity except internet to save hundreds, I decided it was time to drop the equipment charge as well. I did my homework, read the reviews and checked which modem/routers were OK'd by Comcast. The Motorola MG7700 seemed to fit the bill. I was worried about setting it up myself so I called my Geek who wanted to charge another $130 to set it up so I opted to call Comcast and do it myself. They were very helpful and got it working with few problems. Now for the payoff. It is faster than the Comcast modem for internet and streaming. It was the right move and great not to pay endless rental fees.

Excellent product, but beware of self-activation issues if you have an existing rented Xfinity modem.
The device itself works perfectly. However, the self-install process with Xfinity failed. I have an existing Xfinity account with a rented modem. I was forced to call Xfinity to register the Motorola modem. First the tech had to deactivate the Xfinity modem. Then the new Motorola modem was activated via its MAC address. This process took about 30 minutes. After that, all is well.

All in One.
Love it so far. Covers 2000 sq ft home and out door deck and patio. Former Motorola modem and TP-Link router were frequently dropping signal and the range appeared to be diminishing. Strong signal with this hardware and it has not dropped connection once yet. Internet speeds appear faster. Like the option of having both 5 and 2.4 networks available.

Replaced my Xfinity rented modem/router. Wow!
Did my research and purchased this modem/router to replace my Xfinity/Comcast router which cost me $11/mo to rent. Why did I not do this earlier??? This new router will pay for itself in 15 months which is nice, but the performace upgrade was so dramatic I could not believe it! My rented Xfinity router was less than a year old. It had trouble reaching the 3rd floor of my house with reliable signal. My Nest cam would go off-line several times a day (very annoying and I was blaming Nest). Download speeds were ok but not impressive. With this new router, I'm getting strong signal on the 3rd floor and my nest cam hasn't gone off-line since I switched over about 3 weeks ago. Download speeds are 2-3 times faster than with the Xfinity router. Bottom line, this Motorola router absolutely rocks. I could not be happier!

An overall excellent product but there's at least one firmware problem to work out
Set up was very easy, the range is excellent, 2.4GHz and 5 GHz frequencies are very nice to have, I've hooked up Nest Thermostat, Yi Dome Camera, LG TV, ChromeCast, PS4, Samsung DVD/Home Theater, Yamaha DVD player, iPhone, and HP Laptop - the performance is excellent. The one wrinkle I found was when changing the default admin password, I was able to successfully set a short password but when I tried to set a long password, the modem would seem to accept the change, but I would not be able to log in using these longer password forcing me to need to reset the modem to restore the default password. I didn't experiment enough to find the length limit where the failure occurs... So I've settled on a shorter admin password. I've logged an issue with Motorola, presumably this issue can be easily corrected with a firmware update. My current firmware version is (7700-5.7.1.8).
