Great Sounding Keyboard [P-121}
Three months ago I purchased Yamaha's P-125 along with the console-style stand and 3-pedal setup. I keep it at my business to enjoy whenever possible. At home I have Yamaha's acoustic U1E upright. I enjoyed the P-125 so much that I decided I wanted the same features in a more portable version for traveling, thus the P-121. For this one I added a fold-up style stand and bench. This is apparently the first review of the P-121. If you want other opinions, see the reviews of the P-125. The features are EXACTLY the same except for the number of keys: 88 vs. 73.

Very happy with this keyboard!
This electric piano is amazing. I grew up with an upright piano in my house, and I took lessons from age 5 to 19. Living on my own in an apartment, I often longed for a piano to play on. This Yamaha electric piano fills a whole that was in my heart. The sound quality is impeccable. The weighting of the keys feels realistic to me (you can tell it's different from a grand piano, but it feels better than my old upright). While the keys are plastic and the white keys have a glossy look/feel, this hasn't hampered my playing and isn't something I notice while playing. The sustain pedal Yamaha includes is usable, but it's small and cheap. While it's certainly the most slim 88-key piano I've ever seen, there's still a bit of bulk underneath the unit. If you set the piano on a table, the keybed probably lies about 5-6 inches up from the table. Something to be aware of if you're not putting it on a stand. Posture is important so you don't hurt yourself, so don't think you can place it on top of a tall table and play it comfortably. I'll get a keyboard stand as soon as I can. One of the best and yet most obvious features (something I never thought about before buying an electric piano) is being able to play with headphones on at night or anytime you don't want to disturb others. The rhythm feature is nice; there's a variety of percussion accompaniments and it will play a bass line following the chord outlines you play. There's a good collection of voices as well, and being able to play a bass line with your left hand is cool. Very happy with this keyboard!

Excellent Piano. Should Be The Obvious Choice Over The P-45.
The P-125's piano sound is gorgeously resonant, and has a deep dynamic range from ppp to ff (fff is not attainable.) The action feels extremely similar, in weight and responsiveness, to a Yamaha grand piano. Of course, the pivot of the keys is shorter than in a grand, making the feel not exactly like a piano, but close enough. There is an overall beautiful, singing quality to the sound. The bass notes, and nearly all the treble, possess a perfect sonority. However, there is a narrow section (F5 to D6) in the upper treble where you can clearly hear that this is a digital piano; the delicate wooden sound of the piano, yields to an ever so slightly tinny sound in just a few notes. Such irregularities are inevitable in smaller instruments like this, and are only fully fixed once you get into the midrange Clavinovas. That said, my ears are trained, and are very sensitive to tone colors, and I suspect many people will not be able to hear this. If you need perfect tone production across every single key, for the full dynamic range, you're just gonna have to drop a couple thousand on a higher end instrument. In that case, I suggest to you, the P-515, or a CLP-625. Perhaps what I like most about this piano is the overtones produced by the virtual resonance modeling. The P-45 does not have any of this VRM, and the sound is matte, muddy, invoiceable, and exhaustingly harsh. I do NOT recommend the P-45 to anyone, and I frankly thing Yamaha is making a mistake by continuing to sell such a sub-par instrument. If you're thinking of getting the P-45, stop and buy the P-125 instead. You can usually find a demo model P-125 for around $500 if you know where to look, so don't let the price difference cause you to settle for less. The P-125 is an adequate piano simulator for even a professional pianist, the P-45 is not. All in all, I love this piano as a piano. Of which there are four! And when combined with the different reverbs, can be finely adjusted to sound as you wish.

I couldn't be any happier with this piano
I couldn't be any happier with this piano, I play it every day. The sound is great and the volume gets pretty loud at least in my opinion. My last keyboard ( not a yamaha) had terrible speakers, which was the main reason I wanted to upgrade. The voices are fun to play with and I like the recording feature. The keys feel very close to real piano. The best part is, it's pretty small. I have a tiny SRO studio apartment, so I didn't want something chunky and large that would take up too much space. It came right on schedule. I'm definatly sticking with YAMAHA as my keyboard provider from here on out

Great combination for a serious beginner
For a determined adult student, this combination of P125 keyboard, furniture stand and stool is a great setup at a reasonable price. The stand was not too difficult for a middle-aged lady with a Phillips screwdriver to put together by myself. After I added the optional 3-pedal unit, a musician friend helped me set the keyboard on the stand, and after he tried it out he was very impressed with all the voices the keyboard offers as well as the feel of the weighted keys. I love my new "piano" (organ, harpsichord)! We're going to have great times together!

Beautiful sound
I have played it only once, but the first note I hit sounded so much like an acoustic piano that I was shocked -- pleasantly shocked. I look forward to exploring its many capabilities.

The right choice!
I've never played a Nord, probably never will be in a position to own one. I did significant research into what 'weighted' piano keyboard I wanted, keeping the budget in mind. I bought the Yamaha P125 without playing it, then had the chance to compare it with the 'like' Roland version plus a few other brands and I'm happy to say I made the right choice! It's everything I want/need in a piano keyboard!

I absolutely love it.
A lot has improved hugely since the last model I had which was P95: key action, speaker, sound libraries, EQ, and many other additional functions. I plug it to my computer, iPhone and iPad to expand the sound libraries. I absolutely love it.

Love it so far.
I really like the sound and feel of this keyboard. It's as good as, if not better, than my Yamaha digital piano (CLP-340) that cost over $2000 many years ago. In fact I'm going to sell the piano and just keep this. I do have one complaint and that is that it is thicker than the piano (5.25" vs. 4") so my knee hits the bottom of the keyboard when I have the height adjusted for proper arm placement. It forces me to sit back a little further. I'm sure I'll adjust over time but it was a bit annoying at first. I replaced my X stand with an On-Stage KS7350 stand which is rock solid. I also placed a Convenience Concepts Mission Console Table behind it to hold my lamp and stuff which fits nicely with the stand. And it's all portable.

Great piano!
Saved up a lot for this piano, I love it so much! Perfect for beginners like me, lovely, bright and loud sound. Keys are weighted and feel great! It’s one of the best purchases I’ve bought for myself and I hope to use it for many years! My only continuing problem after owning this for 4 months is STILL trying to find out how to use headphones with it, but not even that inconvience will make me lessen my rating for the piano. I am THAT satisfied with it!
