I couldn't decide between two very similar, high quality kilts from two different manufacturers, so I ordered one of each to see & wear each of them in order to choose the one I liked best to keep & to send back the other. I hope this review helps you to choose between these two popular kilts. I ordered the "UT Kilts" Men's Deluxe Blackout Utility Kilt and also ordered a "Damn Near Kilt 'Em" (DNKE) Men's Sport Utility Kilt. Both kilts were in black. The UT Kilt has black snap buttons and the DNKE has satin brass snap buttons. They both have nice, deep pockets and sturdy belt loops. I'm 5'10" and both kilts were a very good length: The top of the kilts started at my lower rib area (above my naval) and went down to the top of my knees. Both kilts were priced exactly the same too. (At this time they both were priced at $79.00 USD each.) I comfortably wear a 36 in jeans and I measured a 40 for a kilt so I ordered that size in the UT Kilt & "M-L" in the DKNE Kilt. BOTH kilts fit me perfectly too. I LIKE the UT Kilt, it's made out of a very durable & heavy 100% cotton fabric, but, I REALLY LOVE the DNKE Kilt because it's fabric is so much softer to the touch and although it seems just as heavy & durable, it just drapes on you much better and sways a bit with you as you walk. The UT Kilt is very stiff, similar to a thick heavy canvas. I think washing it would only make it stiffer too. Possibly after many, many washings it might loosen up to sway & drape on you as a good Kilt should, I just wanted to wear a proper kilt right away, and have it behave & look as a proper kilt should look. Cheers!

This kilt is very classy and very stylish, very secure it covers you really well. It goes with a lot of my T-shirt send sweaters, it’s easy to get the modern kilt look, and still be classy and not feel bad. But because I am white in the waste I had to get the larger size because I wasn’t sure what was correct, and that means the link goes up to. So it’s a little bit long on me, it’s Supposed to be at your news or just above, and it’s actually below my knees. I should either hem it or hike it up. If they could give the option for length at the same time as Westside, so I can get a shorter one for the same Westside, that would be better. But nevertheless it’s very exactly what you’re looking for. A true well made modern kilt whichcan be for any person.

My kilt rocks. Heavy fabric, great stitching and details, excellent snaps and buttons. It's like I'm back in Glasgow (but I've never been there). I followed the measurement directions, finally. It only took 3 tries to get it right. But, I feel like a G now. Look like one, too. I'll proudly wear this kilt all over town now and enjoy the staring and glaring. Yea, I'm a stand-out. Yea, a strong wind will reveal my little Scottsman. Yea, I'll get the occasional "nice skirt" comment. But after I'm done pounding the non-believers, I strut into my lady's arms, and she melts like buttery Scottish shortbread. HWFG! <- look it up!

As someone who sweats like a melting ice cube in the summer, this kilt is amazing. I wear it when I;m working outside. The freedom it gives me when kneeling or squatting down vs. pants or shorts is great. A LOT cooler too. I will be ordering a second one. After a couple washes the pleats are not a sharp but I'm not wearing this in a parade so it doesn't bother me. I don't fret over wrinkled blue jeans when working outside so why bother about a wrinkled kilt.

I measured at 45" around the belly and got the XL, it fit perfectly. This is by far my favorite kilt out of the ones I own. They are built very well and looked great with my sporran. My only issue is inside my left cargo pocket the string is a but messy and I kept a catching it and yanking it out on accident. As far as I can tell it's just excess string as everything seems to be nice and tight still. Also this company cares! I received a couple follow up e-mails before and after the arrival of my kilt, that's customer service!

Excellent product! I purchased another, somewhat cheaper kit from Amazon last year, and this one is far, far better. For $20.00 more this kilt is easily twice the quality. And, the customer service I received from DNKE (I had a problem with one small buckle) was not only prompt, but more than made up for the minor inconvenience. i will absolutely buy from them again. One other note: I bought one kilt from DNKE that was too big. it was my fault, I didn't think there was any way I would be considered a 'medium', but I am. The second kilt fits perfectly.

An absolutely fine kilt, as about 350 prior reviewers have noted. My biggest complaint is that the back pocket's a bit small for my wallet, but it fits in the left pocket just fine, so not a big deal. My biggest pleasant surprise was that the belt loops are 2" wide - a rare trait - so if you've got a claymore and a heavy duty belt which can hold it, you're set. Unlike pants, you can wear it around your actual waist, wherever that may happen to be, so it will stay on better than most pants would, even when heavily loaded down. (For those of you who don't wear swords, the same would apply to belts laden with heavy tools, handguns, or whatever.)

A good buddy of mine picked up one of these, and handling it myself sold me on buying my own. I've worn it a number of times now and had zero issues with it, and have recently ordered a Smithy as well. I think that's the best compliment: I have enjoyed it enough to buy more. Pay attention to sizing, since your kilt and pants size are not the same (your pants and pants size are not the same, for that matter). I got one that fit me exactly as expected. I wear it, I get compliments on it, I enjoy it. I ordered in black, and sometimes wear it with a dress shirt and waistcoat. It's dressy enough to pull that off without question. My buddy also ordered in black, and typically wears his with T-shirts. It's casual enough to pull that off without question. So yeah, it's as formal or casual as you wear it, it's good quality, and I bought more. Dunno what else to say, other than to free yourself from pants prison.

My wife purchased this almost as a joke, not thinking I'd like it. Boy was she wrong! I love my kilt! I wear it just about all the time around the house and the yard. I wear it around town just to pretend to ignore the confused looks people give me. lol. I did have a lady in Lowe's Hardware store stop me and ask me "Who I was supposed to be" that day. Sizing: I read a lot of complaints about how the kilt isn't sized right. After ordering the wrong size myself and having to replace it, I have to admit that if you read the manufacturer's instructions, and measure before you order, you'll be satisfied! Otherwise, you'll make the same mistake I did. I wear a 36 in everything; pants, shorts, jeans, etc. In a kilt I wear a 40. They don't ride the same and aren't measured the same. Durability: I know they all say dry clean only but I knew I wasn't going to do that on day one! I'm going to wash and wear. So, after two months and probably a dozen times through the washer the kilt looks just as good as it did on day one. Yes, the pleats suffer a little without dry cleaning, so I'll be carrying mine to the dry cleaners every month or so just to get them pressed properly, but for everyday wear washing on a gentle cycle and hang-drying works fine. And in case you're curious - yeah, the chicks really do dig it! lol

My first review apparently sucked so lets try this again: Second time buying from DMKE and the fabric and quality are the same as the first one I bought almost 3 months before. Really like the softer fabric on this Khaki version, but the same fabric on the dark brown one is still good as theyre both 100% cotton. However make sure that when you wash these at your home you use the cold water cycle and hang dry (You can find clip hangers for this and it makes it very easy). If you are afraid to iron them take them to someone who can, as the pleats will stick out and make you look stupid if you dont do it right. Some people are saying they are having trouble with the buttons and buckles but I have not seen any of these problems with constant daily where, including hiking and wearing a pistol. For price and quality, I see myself buying a lot more of these in the future over other brands I have tried. Also do not be afraid of them being from Pakistan; The quality is superb and they will help you out if anything is wrong with the kilt when it gets to you..
