Changed a car head unit backup camera to a blind spot camera using this relay

I had a need to have a passenger side blind spot camera rather than a backup camera on my car restoration project which had me change out the old AM radio to a new model head unit that had a backup camera function. Since backup cameras work off the reverse lamp to activate the view on the head unit, connecting the power to the right turn signal worked but it would flash on and off with the blinker flash. To resolve this issue, I attempted a normal time delay relay but I was not successful until I found the ‘timers.shop’ model called “multi-functional 3v-18v time delay relay 5-amp”. This allowed me to program the unit to a function that would reset a time delay after each signal flash (function 12). The result was that when I turned on the right flasher, the head unit would active my blind spot camera for 6 seconds. Since my turn signals flash every 2 seconds, it would reset the 6 second clock at each flash for a new 6 seconds. The result worked great and allowed the camera to stay on constantly as long as the right turn signal was on and turned off 6 seconds after the last flash. This same unit had lots of other functions included within itself but the blind spot camera delay was exactly what I was looking for.

Versatile, flexible, reliable and easy to program timed relay.

I set these two timers up for turn signal/daytime running light (DRL) integration. They power my DRLs when I turn the motorcycle on and when turn signal is applied, they deactivate the DRLs and the integrated amber LED’s flash in time with the bike’s turn signal relay. Timers were set to Function 13, 1-second time-delay, trigger option 2, output reversed. Programming them was much easier than I’d feared and took me no more than 10 minutes. Very pleased with these and will buy more in the future. Much smaller and lighter than typical relays and completely waterproof. Highly recommended.

Easy to program, but be patient.

I found it easy to program once I setup a simple rig with 9v battery, on/off switch, and two buttons to ground the program wires (white/green). Their YouTube videos are super helpful in getting you going. You need to be patient and invest a little time into it, but it's easy to do. I have a battery/solar powered camera to take time lapse video of a house build and I wanted to turn the camera off at night to save battery power. I tried several solutions but none provided stable power to the camera. I used this device with option #12 to allow the camera to run on stable battery power by using the trigger option sourced from the solar input at dawn and disconnect the camera power 30 minutes after dusk, when the solar panel stops producing power. (I also needed to add a diode from the solar panel input to the solar controller). It works perfectly and now the camera gets stable power all day, turns off at night, and the battery charge doesn't fall behind over time.

These relays are small - yet they "do it all" !

I create animatronic props for Theme Parks and Film. These are the only relays I now use for my projects. I have switched over to these units from using the old-style relay "cubes". I am no longer stuck with just one or 5 functions and a fixed or narrow voltage range. These are so small that I can fit lots of them in a small space and I can link them together for complicated show control sequencing and triggering. Functions can be changed at will and programming is easy. The available programming unit makes the programming even simpler. …… Tom

This worked great and was easy to program Used it on golf cart brake lights to time out after 30 seconds so as not to run down the battery when the brake is locked down Product is a bit pricey but considering its versatility I will be keeping it in mind for future projects

Perfect for duck decoys

Truly remarkable item. Used for Mojo decoys after I couldn’t get the Mojo remote and receivers to work properly. I bought two and they work flawlessly. Easy install and setup. I programmed my mallard for 15 seconds motion, 20 off repeating cycle (function 5) and my teal for 8 on/12 off. Totally changes the look and realism of my spreads

Used to delay headlights on vehicle

My son wanted his halo lights to stay on for a period after he turned off his lights. We installed tonight and it works perfectly. It's a little clunky to program but once you figure out the routine, it works as expected.

Very Flexible product and nice small package

Created a Radio Off delay timer (w/ automotive relay) for a ski boat that allows the sound system to continue to play for 15 minutes after engine is powered down for safe entrance and exit to swim platform. Finally and end to the annoying bluetooth reboot. Perfect.

So many functions and capabilities in such a small package. I needed a Delay on Make (DOM) timer, and this unit has complete control on the delay time. Coupled with a relay, this handled my 110v pump application.

Great product.

I had a little trouble figuring out how to set up the timer to delay my radio from turning off, but with the great customer support provided I was able to program it with ease. very versatile timer! It has many uses. I'm using another one to keep my electric fan on in my Jeep to help aid heat an ongoing vapor lock issue.
