Asics Gel-Kayano looks great and is the only brand/product that I comfortably can say fit my feet perfectly every time and and let me run without any of my feet start aching. Technically Asics Gel-Kayano is a great running shoe, fits the feet well, gives great support to your feet when running and the "gel" technology protects the knees! Most other shoes from other vendors gives me problems one way or another when running. The only drawback with Asics Gel-Kayano in general (though not with this pair yet) - which to me is an annoying and unnecessary issue but has been consistent over the last five-six years years and my approximately 15th pairs of Asics - is that each Asics Gel-Kayano pair does not look good for long. After relative short period of time (frequently only a month in of using them) a hole will start appearing in the upper part of the shoe covering your toes (hole in the mesh toe cap). I wish Asics would recognize and correct this flaw because the hole in the toe cap look bad in an otherwise almost new shoe (and people who don't have Asics frequently ask what has happened) but it is the same issue every time and has happened to all my previous pairs over the years but it has never happened to any other brand I have used. I have pointed out this issue (flaw) directly to Asics but the refer to warranty and I did send one pair once that I got replaced and they only lasted one month again before it was a new hole in one of shoes again. I had shoes replaced twice but who has time to continuously send the shoes in for warranty replacement only to get a new pair with the same issue? However, even with the holes the shoes can be used (and the only one that I feel comfortable with) but this issue is annoying and the shoes look bad almost immediately (see photo of my previous pair - not the latest). In short the Asics Gel-Kayano is a great running shoe that fits your feet well, providing excellent stability and support for your feet and they are a savior for your knees but don't expect them to look good or last for long.

I've been wearing Gel Kayano shoes for the last 4 years. I wear them for work where I spend pretty much all day on my feet (ER nurse). Kayano 22s were amazing and then the Kayanos got worse and worse. 24s were absolutely horrible and hurt my feet. Well, Gel Kayano 25s are a return to form and extremely comfortable. Toe box is just right, good cushion on tongue and heel, and good support. Absolutely 0 break in period required. Paired them with some Superfeet Blues and my feet (and legs) are happy again.

My husband has special shoe needs due to a severe foot injury in his right heel (surgically reconstructed calcaneus held together with metal plates, screws, etc) that causes constant pain. He needs shoes that provide both a lot of cushion in the heel area and structured heel support, and he also needs new shoes at least every 6 months. The Asics Gel-Kayano (plus SmartFeet inserts) is by far the best shoe for his needs, and has been his go-to everyday shoe for years. Unfortunately, the Gel-Kayano 23 model (and earlier models) came in pretty hideous colors for everyday wear. He's a professor, so he needs to look professional at work, and the 23 model didn't have a single option that worked well for that. The least obtrusive seemed to be the silver and blue model, and they aren't exactly high fashion--the main fabric is shiny silver with bright blue laces and reflective-shiny blue bands all over it. Imagine those shoes with chinos, a nice shirt, and a tweed jacket. It looked ridiculous, especially given that his students and many of his colleagues did not know about his injury. He also felt a bit self conscious wearing those shoes when we went to nice restaurants or other fancy events where all the other men were wearing dress shoes. In contrast, we are so happy with the new styles available with the Gel-Kayano 24! The fit, comfort, and support are the same excellent quality that he has come to count on from Asics Gel-Kayano, and this time they seem to have hired a better designer, because there are a few options that actually look good too! We got the black/charcoal, and they look great!! The matte finish is a nice touch. They are classy & unobtrusive enough for him to wear to work every day & still look very professional. If you have heel pain, especially from a calcaneus injury, I cannot recommend these shoes enough. They are wonderful for my husband's day-to-day pain management. And instead of being stressed out every 6 months hoping to find a decent pair of shoes, we just re-order these and are good to go. If you have severe pain or a disability, simple things like shoe shopping are not so simple--your entire quality of life rides on it. I highly recommend Gel-Kayanos for anyone who needs extra heel support & cushion, especially now that the 24s have the improved color options. Lastly, I have a message for the Asics design people: If you have anyone reading these reviews, please learn from this! I'm sure runners are fine with the bright, shiny colors, because maybe it makes them feel safe, and either way, they only have to wear them for like an hour a day. But not everyone who buys these shoes is buying them for athletic purposes. Please always make sure to provide a more subtle, sober, professional option for those with foot injuries etc. who need your shoes for everyday wear. You have finally done this with the Gel-Kayano 24--please keep it up with future models! Thank you!!

My friend is a serious ironman triathlete, and he swears by Gel-Kayanos, so I tried the 23 model on his recommendation. Seriously, they are the most comfortable running and cross-training shoes that I've EVER worn. Stability is unparalleled, and they fairly light given the superb support. I work out and/or run practically every day. After a few months, the 23's are still holding up well and going strong... but I've retired them to "running around the city" shoes (I live on the UWS in Manhattan) because they are just so damn comfortable. I recently purchased the Gel-Kayano 24's and my expectations were solidly met - again. The 24s feel even more cushioned. A drawback for some runners might be that you are going to sacrifice some speed.... the soles are not that flexible, and the shoe is a bit bulky compared to the other high-end racing shoes. But you can run in them comfortably 4-EVER. Wish the price would come down but, hey, you only get one pair of feet in life. Be good to them. They will definitely thank you with these shoes.

I have a hard time finding shoes that actually fit properly. I wear an 8-4E and sometimes an 8.5D might fit, but not very often. Also, I didn't know that Asics made wide widths since you NEVER see them in the stores. So, to my surprise, these were a perfect fit and comfortable, too. My only point of disappointment is that in my size they only offered one color even though this shoe is made in like ten different colors. I'd love to buy another pair in one of the other colors.

Seems to run a 1/2 size larger than usual kayanos

Comfortable for a big heavy old guy (67, 260lbs, 6'). Enables me to stand & walk comfortably all day without my feet being the first to tire and ache.....

Asics has done a great job bringing back the original fit of the Kayano. I am a fit heavier runner at 215 lbs and run between 6 to 10 miles a week for cardio. I have had a previous bouts with knee issues and PF, so good running shoes are a must for me. So far, the Kayano 25's have been everything Asics said they would be. They run true to size without the toe box being cramped, provide plenty of cushioning from toe to heel with good responsiveness from the new dual layered sole and are very comfortable! You cant go wrong with these!

been hesitant to spend this much for a shoe for a long time...why did i wait so long? i have been suffering from severe shin pain when i run any distance at all(1-1.5 miles is the most i do). the first day i got these,i went for a run and the shin pain is almost gone when i run. if this continues then its worth every penny.

I love the look of the shoe as that is what caught my attention. I run in the Gel-Cumulous 17 and purchased these as a casual style shoe. As soon as I put them on and took the first step I was in love, the fit is perfect, wide toe box and look sexy in the mirror.
