Great Find, Easy To Use
I pirchased this machine for myself. I was so excited when it arrived that I began using it the same day. I was so amazed at how easy it was to use straight out of the box. I really loved that the threading and bobbin were the same as those on my Brother sewing machine. I love it!!Although this was my first embroidery machine, I felt like I already knew my way around it because of the similarity to my sewing machine. The color screen also has installation and troubleshooting step by step instruction, which were clear and to the point. The pictures appeared on the screen with step by step picture instructions. It was so easy, even I got the hang of it:)! My only regret is that I hadn't purchased it sooner. There were a lot of goodies included, like prewound bobbins and really nice scissors.

Great embroidery machine for the price
The machine itself is easy to use however it was a little confusing getting started. I ended up calling customer service who were excellent in helping me to understand the process. If you are a beginner embroiderer this is the machine to purchase. The price is right, it does a lot of things and once you understand all the steps it does a very good job. I also own a Janome but it is very heavy and I can't go to different classes with the machine. This one was purchased because it's lightweight although it is limited, it is sufficient for what I want. I wanted a lightweight embroidery machine and not a dual embroidery and sewing machine.

Just buy it. You need this.
I’ve had zero training and have never embroidered anything in my life. I bought this and within just a couple hours I embroidered my first item! It is soooo incredibly easy to use and quickly becoming my new obsession! Everyone needs one!

Brother PE535 Embroidery Machine,
Whenever Brother tweaks a machine they give it a new model number so the PE535 is basically the same as the PE525 except the LCD screen is a little larger and you have 10 more built-in designs. The PE535 is an embroidery only machine. If you plan to make your own garments, quilts, table runners etc. to embroider you will need a sewing machine also. In my opinion the PE535 has very limited usage unless you’re sure you only want to do small embroidery and no sewing. I have the Brother SE-600 which is a combination machine and is very similar to this one in features and price. It is a good entry level machine. I don’t know of any machine which does it all. I have a Brother ULT machine which does large designs and borders. I have a Pfaff quilt-pro which is best for quilts, and a couple of Singer machines which are most dependable for long bouts of quilt piecing. I have a couple of machines set up in my sewing room and the rest are in my cabin studio. The PE535 will be set up for those times I need a monogram, label or small design. It is easy to set up and easy to use. You will need a USB flash drive. I use the PNY brand. If you’re new to embroidery you will probably be surprised at the expenses that come with the hobby. You can buy a larger hoop from brother ($75) or you can get the SA434 replacement hoop from embroidex for less than twenty five dollars. I’ve found the embroidex hoop to be very sturdy and easy to use. Thread can be expensive. The “collections” are probably a better bargain. I Have the Maderia chests which include most colors and I replace the individual spools as they run out. I also like the Sulky brand. You will need bobbin thread. Three pre-wound bobbins are included but I hate to run out in the middle of a design. I bought the Brother pre-wound, re-usable bobbins (PWB250). This isn’t a time to skimp with a “comparable” part. Just the slightest hinky bobbin can ruin your whole project. Unless you embroider mostly on denim or canvas type material you will need tear-away, cut-away- or wash-away stabelizers. Each has its own use. If you search you can find free designs. I buy mine from emblibrary.com. They have beautiful, dependable designs at a reasonable cost. They often have sales and they give you free designs on your birthday. My favorite feature is I can go to my order history and download a design again if I lose it or if I want it on a different media. Also they have a record of your machine and will tell you if the design you’re ordering won’t fit your hoop. They also have free tutorials. The designs are easy to download to a flash drive for the PE535. So, I suppose I’ve told you a lot of stuff you didn’t want to know. Bottom line, the PE535 is a great little machine if you have no interest in sewing and you only want to embroider small designs.
