This little shredder is a power house! The shredding is fast and efficient. If you shred the capacity which is 8 sheets it shreds at a slower pace. One full bin of shredded paper easily fills a plastic grocery bag. It’s not a large shredder so it easily can be tucked away without it being a sight for sore eyes. It’s cute and powerful!

I have been trying to declutter my house, but I did not feel comfortable to disposing paper with important or private information so I decided to purchase a Shredder. I decided to buy this one in 2013 and I still own it five years later. I have been able to shred paper (thin and some thick cardstock paper) as well as credit cards. I have only suffered through two paper jams. I was able to fix it and it continued working.

I've had this shredder for over 2 years now and it's still working flawlessly after "eating up" hundreds of pounds of papers and going through 2 out of state moves. I simply plug it in and leave it in a corner of my apartment set on "Auto" and use it almost every day to shred paper that I wouldn't normally throw away in the garbage. I used the credit card shredding features a few times and there was no issue. It will comfortably shred about 5-6 sheets of paper at once but be careful if shredding a whole envelope (with papers in it) such as credit card offers as these might get stuck. You'll be better off opening the envelope and shredding the papers individually. It's not a heavy duty product but gets the job done for regular daily use.

I am not a heavy shredder, but for the amount that I do, this item is perfect. Had it for over a year and I have never had any issues with it. It has never overheated (although it has a button to warn me if it starts to), I love that it's a cross shredder and it is super easy to use. The basket holds a lot and the top is really light so it's easy to take on and off when I need to empty it out. Great product for a great value.

I have had my Aurora AS890C home/small business shredder for a few years. All of a sudden, it stopped working. I tried everything under the sun to get it going, to no avail. Nothing I did had any effect; it just wouldn't work. I cleaned out every scrap of paper in there, and oiled it where called for, and unplugged it and plugged it in again. Finally, I called customer service at Aurora. My call was answered by Tanya and she couldn't have been nicer or more courteous and helpful. She listened to my story at length and in depth, and she took me through various steps over the phone to diagnose my problem. To me, it was a crisis, but for Tanya, it wasn't even a wrinkle in the road. I followed her instructions, and in less than 2 minutes, my shredder was working perfectly. I want to thank Tanya and Aurora for super customer service, and I want the world to know that if you have a problem with an Aurora product, you can call them at 1-800-327-8508, and they will help you. What a joy !!

With all the bills, statements, documents, expired credit/debit cards and letters with sensitive that are delivered to you, this is an absolute must for disposal. This is a nice looking shredder. It has 3 settings. Off, Auto, and Reverse. Off is off, the device is powered down. Auto, is the setting you will keep it on. Basically, it stays quiet and ready, but once you put a sheet(s) of paper in it, it will shred them and then stop. Reverse is when you put too much paper or more than one credit/debit card and it stops shredding it will reverse the movement to get the stuck papers/cards out. There is also a nice safety feature. When you put the operating part (the shredder head and it's casing) into the bin that collects the shredded pieces there is a button that clicks to enable operation again, Meaning, when you take the shredder part from the bin to clean the pieces of paper, it adds a bit more protection so that you don't get your fingers shredded. Again, even though this is better than no protection, I always unplug it from power. This product is highly recommended.

My husband and I purchased this shredder to replace one that died after overworking it. We got this one because of the price and reviews. I am happy to report that after 2 years (as of July 2015), this shredder is sill going strong. It has served us well. It shreds 8 sheets as advertised, although we usually put a couple less than that. It can also handle credit cards and unopened junk mail envelopes. We do wish that the capacity was greater and that the shreds were smaller...but, both of those things were fully disclosed when we bought it, so no stars deducted for that.

This is the third shredder I have purchased. I still have the second one but that's elsewhere right now and we needed a new one. I am a normal security-conscious individual so my shredding requirements aren't large. The unit is heavier than I would have thought. Seems Aurora didn't cheat on quality when they made this unit. The shredding unit is very solid. When I tested it for the first time I was very impressed in the surprising lack of effort it took to shred multiple pages. The noise level and speed were about the same for a single sheet as for three or four. I put eight sheets in for this review, although as a conservative engineer, I recommend using no more than half the rated capacity. If you have a high volume for shredding documents, get an office-quality shredder. For me, the shredder did just fine. With eight pages, it slowed down and labored a little, but then just shredded the stack of papers without complaint. This unit is better than the diamond-cut unit I also own. I purchased the diamond-cut unit at Stapes three years ago. The display in the store claimed that the diamond cut was the more secure type of shredding. Now that I've used that one I doubt it's as secure as the 1/8" cross cut. I believe it would be easier to reconstruct a document from the diamond shred than from 1/8" cross cut type. It's probably on par with the 1/4" cross cut that this unit is. Why did I buy a 1/4" cross cut rather than a 1/8" cross cut? Cost certainly, but more importantly, I believe the types that would try to reconstruct a document from me wouldn't be able to do it -- short attention span. There are easier targets than me. If I were worried about professionals, I would: 1) Burn my sensitive documents and mix the ashes, or 2) Mince them, mix them with water and puree them.

I love this shredder, although I wish the basket on which the head sits is a bit smaller than I would have liked. It easily shreds 8 sheets, but I prefer to shred no more than 6, and I tear a 9X11 sheet in half so the shreds don't collect at the edges. I'd had a previous Aurora shredder and loved it too, but after at least 17 years it finally gave up the ghost. It was larger but they're no longer making that affordable for home use. Will definitely buy from same company again.

So far so good. First use I had two garbage bags of shredded paper. Only jammed one time and it was kind of me as I accidently reversed the shredder when the basket had gotten too full and It sucked up a few trimmings. Its fun to occupy your time if you are bored. Just make sure you read your mail and it is the right thing to shred and destroy. Time will tell but I really like this shredder the first one I have ever owned.
