Bought two of these, great quality construction and super easy install. I wanted to have USB outlets for our boys' devices and both our primary vehicles have big back seats but no USB ports back there. I installed this (in each vehicle) on the rear side of the front center console and it looks factory. Thankfully, both consoles had 12v outlets in the same area, so tapping into those is a snap. While you could drill the hole in a variety of ways, the best way is a step bit. Once you use one you'll never want to use a hole saw again, and you can get an off-brand for not a ton of money. If you can remove your console trim piece, that's ideal (both our cars popped off, one with 4 screws and one with just a retainer clip). Drill a pilot hole and then take your time with the step bit. I think the diameter is around 1 1/8", but if you get it too big, game over. So get it close an then go even slower. I made both my holes just slightly smaller than the diameter and then the socket will actually thread into the plastic of your console/dash. The lock nut doesn't need much tension at all, and in fact it's easy to strip, so just snug it up. Tip: Once it's in place, take something like superglue, RTV, caulk, anything really, and just dab around where the nut meets the socket and where the socket meets the back of the trim piece. This will keep anything from vibrating loose. You can also install without the little floppy cover, but if you do I'd recommend that you actually trim the cover part off and still use the rubber washer part just to isolate it against your plastic/metal trim. Anyway, 5 stars. Super functional, love that it's aluminum and not plastic, and the version I bought did not have an LED of any kind which is what I wanted.

I have a Pontiac Fiero Show Car, but its already modified, so I don't mind making changes that make sense. The cigar lighter is one of those accessories that no longer makes sense, and most people have USB adaptors plugged into them. But the adaptors don't always work well as they have to have good contact in the socket, which sometimes takes some twisting and turning. And most have 1 USB port at 1.1A. Unfortunately 1.1A works OK for cell phones, but tablets need more. This outlet has 2 USB ports, each rated for 2.1A, enough for that tablet. I first got the lighted version, but the light is not controlled separately. The power to my cigar lighter is on all the time so I bought This one which is unlighted. Once installed, it looks "factory original" and works great!

Order arrived quickly and is an exact match to the item description. My RV didn't have any conveniently located outlets near the bed for charging phones, and since they were for a bedroom the last thing I wanted a bright indicator light showing the 12v power supply was connected. Surprisingly difficult to find these without the LED backlighting. Very pleased you offered the non-illuminated option. Used a 1 1/8 spade bit to make a hole, the connections were well labeled and everything worked first try as expected. I'd buy this again if needed.

Appears to be a quality unit. Using this for our travel trailer. Wanted unit that was not lit so as not to take excess power from the trailer battery when not connected to shore power. Easy to install. Good value for the price.

No LED so wont drain my battery. Very simple to install, a little bit thicker than a normal cigarette lighter. But a little filing and its perfect.

I installed this on my Yamaha sx192 jetboat so I could charge my phone or tablet on the drivers side. Pretty easy to install. I drilled a 1.25 inch hole with my hole saw. Others have recommended a 1 1/8 hole but I didn’t have that size. The 1 1/4 worked great. I added a 10 amp fuse and wired to the battery. I like that I can keep an eye on the voltage.

Very well made. Substantial design. Very pleased with quality, function and ease to install.

I have four of these used in various off grid solar applications. The simplest to describe is a 12v 25W solar panel that is connected directly to one of these. Then I have two 70 Wh battery banks that plug in/ recharge from the solar panel. Using this setup I have been able maintain a solid charge on the battery banks without hiccup. These are one of the few that do not produce sizeable RFI probably because the device itself is made out of aluminum. They also can accept up to 24V on the input, which is perfect for open circuit 12v solar panels.

After installing USB plugs everywhere on my boat and van, I finally figured out I should have actively looked for ones that weren't lit. So I replaced all with these. Easy installation, now I have a drawer full of ones I don't want. Trying to block all those outlets while in use is a lot of work.

I was looking to add some simple direct wired USB charging ports to my pickup to use while camping or hunting and this was perfect. My pickup has all of the accessory 12v plugs wired through the ignition so I would have to leave the key turned on or the truck running to charge my phone or other small electronics at night while I was camping. That was a no-go. I installed this product in about 3 minutes in my dash. It has a really nice smooth look once installed and the best part is that I was able to wire it directly into my fuse panel and the plug doesn't drain down the battery when not in use. Overall the plug is perfect for my needs, the build quality is really nice, the dust cover seems durable and convenient, and with a 2.1A charge rate it charges my electronics quickly and safely.
