One of the easiest DIY fixes ever.
As others have said, it takes more time to the the old one out than it does to put the new one in. In my case, it wasn't the handle that broke, but the actual cable. Turn the couch upside down, remove two screws, unhook the anchor end, remove the old, and reverse the process for the new one. Before you order: MEASURE THE OLD ONE. There are variants available, and if you mismatch the length, it won't work. This 37" was perfect for my couch. Just take note of how you pull the old one out. If you're working on a dual recliner (like my 2005 Ashley) you have a ready guide to help with the install. Just look at the other side! Considering Ashley doesn't even carry replacement parts, this is a VERY effective solution for a very small amount of money.

Perfect fit!
Our double recliner love seat handle broke. We found a name on the tag under the couch, googled it, found a cross reference number for replacement. Searched on Amazon, came up with this. We ordered it, it was a perfect fit. Easy to install, took about 15 minutes. I love it when a plan comes together!

Amazing purchase
I was skeptical when I read how easy this was to install, but, it was a breeze! Took less than 5 minutes to put the whole thing together. The hardest part was flipping a double unit of the sectional piece with the recliner. I am a 64 YO female and I put this part on in nothing flat. Worked perfectly!

Quick and Easy
Ordered this to replace the lever on my Lazy Boy sofa. Didn't need the cable so I detached it and just used the cable still attached to my sofa. Took under 10 minutes and works great. This replacement seems to be higher quality than what was originally used in my sofa.

Good fit
The important part of ordering this is knowing the exposed length of the cable because the are not all the same. It would be nice if the handle was metal rather than plastic, it would last longer.

Worked on my Lazy Boy
I ordered this part after the one on my Lazy Boy broke. Apparently this is a common problem, where the little plastic piece used to put the chair in the reclined position brakes off while it's being pulled. If that's the problem that you are having, than this part will fix it. This comes with the plastic pull handle and the cable assembly. The cable assembly on the Lazy Boy is actually different than this one, so just leave the original one attached to the chair. With a pair of long nose pliers, a phillips screwdriver, and a small punch to drive out a pin, I was able to swap out the plastic pull handle in about 10 minutes. Now it works like new again.

Exact Replacement
Ashley design is flawed. These cables break partly because the design is poor. The original installation makes the cable bend too sharply causing premature failure. I combat this by installing the handles upside down. It makes the bend much more gradual but does make releasing the footrest a little more difficult due to the reverse action of the lever. However, longevity is increased. Even then, they still break because the cheap plastic eventually breaks instead. This replacement isn't better than Ashley's, it's the same but much cheaper here. Buy more than one at a time, they will break eventually!

Repaired My 5-year Old Ashley Recliner
This is just what I needed. I measured the pull handle to make sure it would fit the side of the chair and because that is the part I needed to repair my chair so I wasn't worried about the cable length too much. When the part arrived the pull handle and cable was the exact size needed and it took less than 5 minutes to remove the old part/cable and replace with the new. Pull handle looked identical to the factory installed part, fit perfectly and my chair works flawlessly again.

Great replacement!
Got a free set of reclining theater seats, only issue, the middle recline would not open. My kids fight over who was getting the non-reclining seat. Previous owner thought the cable had come loose, but upon inspection, found the handle had snapped inside the chair. This item was a perfect replacement, looks identical to the original. Only issue I had was removing the original clasp that attached the cable to the chair. It took me longer to remove it than for me to repair the chair! I ended up having to break the clasp to remove because the replacement handle also came with a replacement clasp. Only advise is to check the cord your replacing. I got lucky when ordering the correct one, I wasn't aware there was multiple lengths and attachments.

It fit my Lane sectional.
Make sure that you properly measure the length of the cable and the length of the exposed part of the cable. There are available videos that explain this and show how to properly install the replacement cable. This product arrived promptly and was just as described.
