@Apr 17 2019 - 2 channel stereo also spectacular ( tidal streaming ) with pioneer elite speakers. If you sit listen music go for high end speakers like Dynaudio m20 ( for relaxed laidback sound))or new r300 ( for critical music sessions like 2 hour action movie) You will be rewarded. I am so confident about this amp as I went through several hifi upgrades. @Mar 26 2019 - This receiver keeps me amaze with each and every movie.. what a immersive..punch ... in mad max fury road once they enter into sand storm it feels like my whole living rooms immersed part of that storm . Room correction in this receiver excellent I am not hearing subwoofer or center channel . Feels like just big sound stage around me . Truly magical product. stealing deal at 600$. @Mar 18 2019- Tip 4: For Apple TV 4K, while watching normal 5.1 contents , we need to set as Dolby Digital 5.1 and not let it play default mode.( audio settings -> change Format -> off). By default it gives multi channel PCM however in this mode loudness and dynamic range is less and lfe channel rumbling also less. Where as in 5.1 Dolby Digital ( change Format -> on and turn on DD 5.1 ) sounds louder at same volume . We have to switch between Dolby atoms and Dolby Digital 5.1 depending on content. when I start playing movie in 5.1 Dolby Digital mode,I see ‘DialogNorm: +4 dB’ on receiver display . As per manual this means basically 5.1 Dolby Digital content being played at recorded level that is 4 dB louder. This could be the reason 5.1 Dolby digital louder than multichannel 5.1 PCM . —————-Original post————— This is 5 star product. Sounds excellent.Buy with confident. I already reviewed on Crutchfield. Now I want share some of things which can help you. Tip1: The video pass through has color banding . My source is Apple TV 4k. After trying different settings finally I found out the reason. It was due to frame match rate was off in Apple TV video settings. I turned on frame match rate on along with match dynamic range.that’s it color banding gone. some times tv,s itself glitchy. Before make final call try To understand TV settings also. Tip 2: AccuEQ advance is excellent. we need to set the subwoofer volume properly before running room correction . Just set sub volume less than half. Do not set high. in my sub dynamo 1100x, I set -18 dB( -14 is half). After room correction, sub volume in receiver should be around +1 or -1, Not more than 2 dB variation. We should not see huge sub low volume spikes and dips like +5 or -5 in levels. ————-update @ Mar 24 2019—————- After multiple iterations I found optimum room correction happing when I see , 1 or 2 dB positive values in receiver sub level volume. ( this can be achieved by keeping sub volume low before starting room correction) .After that if you need more bass increase bass volume in subwoofer. ————————————————— Once you room correction done, go to crossover change mains to 80hz . ( my setup is Pioneer Dolby elite bookshelf). Even for towers 80hz is the best crossover unless you have top qulity 10 inch 3 way floor standing speakers. Enable Heights channels distance should be 30 feet with 180 hz crossover. Turn of Dolby loudness management and do not enable AccuReflex. Now we need to verify if room correction done properly or not. To do that set music mode to stereo ( not pure or direct) and play some known music with different kind of bass notes . While listening music just keep on and off AccuEQ room correction . You should not feel weird difference.. blend between mains and sub should be there along with subwoofer punchcy sound and Tonal hallow sound should be reduced without reducing mids or thin tone . If not satisfied repeat again by changing sub volume. Also keep quiet ,even turn off buzzing fridge or humming air conditioner If any. Tip 3: My tv SONY tv . Platform is android.. its glittery, do weird things which I can not explain to customer support. One time i noticed onkyo switched to TV mode. To overcome, I went to tv settings and hdmi input settings.. clicked to send commands to connected hdmi devices And came back to av receiver settings and eARC CEC option turned off and came out from settings and went back again turned on CEC settings on. That’s it. Issue did not come again. Some times some things contradict each other, it is normal thing not issues tv or onkyo. One more thing..I am not understanding with product failures with amazon . If we see any onkyo or any other brands model reviews between amazon, bestbuy or Crutchfield, only amazon will get worst experience from customers. For the same products we can see good reviews on bb and Crutchfield. Very less reviews on product failure or hdmi issues. Let me share my experience with amazon.com Purchased and returned Onkyo Tx Rz 920 twice because it has same problem subwoofer and speaker noise while powering off. Previous to this I bought Onkyo NR 777 ( Best Buy) later Onkyo rz 820 ( Crutchfield) no issues at all. Last year I purchased elac subwoofer 310 from amazon. Exchanged and returned 2 times due to Bluetooth issues. No issues from bestbuy bought same subwoofer twice before amazon purchase and after amazon purchase.. due to price drops. both were working in perfect conditions. Not sure why we are facing product failure on amazon purchases. Avoid amazon go with Crutchfield or bb .Not sure definitely some thing is not right look like manufacturers taking advantage of amazon.com selling internal small defective units by listing with sudden price drops The experience I shared based on ship and sold by amazon.com only .

Plenty of power for 7.2.2 in a large room.

Wow. My first high end receiver and it rocks. Running with a 7.2.2 Klipsch Reference inwall setup in a 16ft wide by 25ft deep room. Sounds amazing. Volume at 70 is plenty, wife says turn it down :)

Sounds Amazing

I replaced my Pioneer Elite SC 61 and was amazed at the difference. My speakers havent sounded this good since my Yamaha kicked the bucket. I currently have it setup as a 5.14 ATMOS config. I downloaded the app from Playstore and it's very handy since my receiver is in a different room than my home theater. I can control the volume and listening mode without running to the other room to see which mode sounds best for the movie.

The new 11.2 receivers are KILLER! Too easy to set up with the auto calibration (they call AccuEQ Advance calibration with AccuReflex Technology). All i cared about is plugging in the mic and let it do its magic! I also love the new ARC on HDMI 2.1. Now you can truly use your TV as the hub if you want to and drop one HDMI to the receiver so they talk and transfer on their own! It even passes AMAZON's ATMOS CONTENT! LOVE IT! Looking to add another for my great room too!

Great power and quality

This is my 3rd Onkyo receiver that I’ve purchased over the last 20 years. Great products, great power,sound, and video. Easy setup. Recommend to everyone thinking of home theater receiver upgrades. Price was high but for the quality and connection ability it was the best choice. Bought this to replace my TX-NR515 only because that didn’t support my new Atmos setup.

You will not find a better deal on this top-performing mid-range av receiver.

The receiver arrived on its expected date, and was in perfect condition (new). I neglected to ask for Amazon container which I will do for future purchases of this nature. Very pleased with this purchase. Everything is working well, and updates were a breeze through the network. The feature set is very comprehensive, and considering there is a 175 page manual you can download, you can still be on the air in 30 minutes or less, fully calibrated! I recommend perusing the manual a bit before setup to familiarize yourself, but I have to say this was well done!

Amazing receiver

I’ve had Onkyo for awhile and love them. This receiver is amazing. Bought this one on the trade out / rebate program through Onkyo since my TX-NR787 lost sound. Much appreciated!
