I teach kindergarten and have a few students that need help with their motor skills. I purchased this product and my kids like it. Since then, they have learned how to hold a pencil. I love this product and would recommend it to anyone who’s trying to help their kids learn how to grip a pencil. It works.

These are perfect for any struggling writer. We'd tried others and still was slow with writing. These give the perfect position for the fingers and enough support. Our son is doing well with them.

Great for beginning writers!

My 4 year old has trouble holding his pencil properly because he says he isn’t strong enough. So to make his grip “stronger” he holds the pencil in his fist. In the images, he wrote his name at the bottom before the grip was put on. I don’t have an image for the tracing of his name before the grip. I bought these in hopes of helping him see and feel the proper way to hold the pencil and to increase the amount of control he has. He tried using them as soon as we got them out of the mail. His control over the pencil was a night and day difference! His confidence soared as well. He saw how well he traced his name and his face lit up! I was able to fit the grips on a normal sized pencil and also managed to (with some effort) squeeze it onto one of the fatter, training pencils. They aren’t designed to go on the larger pencils but I figured I’d see if I could manage it since those are what my son typically uses. I am very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend these grips to anyone with a young child that is in the beginning stages of learning how to write.

Best Pencil Grip

My son has apraxia and pencil holding skills are a problem for him. No one has been able to get him to hold a pencil properly and he's in the 5th grade. Needless to say, his hand-writing is atrocious!! I saw these when browsing through Black Friday deals and thought these grips looked like they would actually force his hand into the proper position. I had been looking into getting him into Occupational Therapy which, even with insurance, would cost quite a bit. I believe these handy dandy pencil grips are helping greatly and we may not have to take him to O/T after all. I saw there were some styles that didn't have the loop in the back for the middle finger to go through, but for my son he definitely needed this. This grip puts his first three fingers in the appropriate writing position and there isn't much of a way he can mess that up. The only thing he might get incorrectly is how far back he places the grip. The first day he took a pencil grip to school, three other kids wanted to try them and loved them as well. I had never seen this style, nor had anyone else at our school. I am impressed and when these eventually get worn out, I'm definitely buying some more! I believe that there is already an improvement in his writing.
