So much fun
Been drumming for 40 years as a hobby. This is my first electronic kit. These drums are just so much fun - so awesome to practice with. I really like the TD-17. I tend to gravitate towards the higher-end models in the gadgets I buy, and this model satisfies my itches well. It is a perfect mid-spot in the Roland vDrum line value wise. Really happy with it. I will provide years of enjoyment and service to my practice.

Fantastic Feel, Great Sound
I thought it wasn't fair that this set had no reviews, so I'll throw mine in. After the first day of playing it, I can say it feels fantastic, sounds great, and is everything I hoped for it to be. It feels pretty well made, though I can't comment on its durability until quite a bit of time has passed. I hope that despite this review being short, it was at least a little helpful. Edit: After nearly a year of use, I can safely say this kit is very durable. The mesh heads have yet to show much wear at all, and everything still works good as new.

Excellent feel, response and sound at an affordable price point
I had a 15 year hiatus from playing the drums because I had to move a lot on my job, and due to noise concerns with my neighbors when playing an acoustic drum kit. On one hand, I'm very picky with the feel and response of playing drums because of decades of experience playing acoustic drums, but I was also not keen to shell out top dollars for top-of-the-line electronic drum kits. As soon as I saw this kit announced by Roland at a price point affordable to me but with all the right compromises on realism, I immediately put down money to pre-order the kit. There's still some tendency to machine gun sound when paying the toms, and getting a consistent cross stick sound is a bit finicky but other than that I absolutely love this kit.

Everything I can ask for in an electric drum kit
I have had this drum set for almost a month since leaving this review and logged a little over 30 hours of play-time. So far this set feels really well built and has an excellent response time. The kick stand is easily compatible with a double-bass pedal. The sounds the module provides are easily customizable from muffling to up/down tuning to get the sound you desire (you can upload your own sounds too). There are 50 preset kits as well as 50 custom user kits that you can choose from. The only issue I found with this set is that you need to hit the ride-bell a little hard to activate the ride-bell sound. After some research, I found that this is normal for the CY-13R. Be aware that this set does not have a kick pedal, hihat stand, or a throne. So be prepared to spend a little more money if you don't have those components. Roland has outdid themselves with the TD-17 series electric drum kits. If you are looking for a high-end budget drum set, I would certainly recommend this kit.

Glad I went with the 17kvx for the studio.. the v-cymbals make the diff.

Solid Set - Great Purchase
I only have a few hours on the throne since I purchased the set this week. The set I purchased was the TD-17KVX-S. There seems to be continual confusion on what is included and what you need to purchase to make this set completely operational. Quick Observations.... WHAT YOU NEED TO SUPPLY/PURCHASE IN ADDITION TO THE ACTUAL TD-17KVX-S SET: -A kick pedal -A hi-hat stand -A Throne -Either Headphones or a monitor (if using a monitor you need the cable to connect it) -Drum sticks The set arrived in two boxes, a smaller one with the stand and a large one with everything else. Give yourself at least two-to three hours for the initial set up and adjustments The stand came with instructions, but I found other videos that review sets and include in the title "Unboxing and Set-up" were helpful to view prior to set-up. The kit itself comes with multiple set-up guides, each set comes in multiple languages so you will need to root around to find the instruction set that applies to what you are doing and in the correct language. Don't panic when the snare appears to be missing the hardware, it is different than all the other pads and the hardware is in one of the numerous plastic bags you tossed to the side It's an awesome set. Great response, great feel, extremely versatile. I am a wanna-be drummer, in my early 60's, who took his first lesson in the early 70's. I am very glad I didn't purchase anything less (eg. TD-11, or anything higher (i.e. the TD-50). This will take me to my grave. Not that its gonna kill me, but it will do everything I need it to and more. The set actually came from Total Music Source and was delivered promptly.

Absolutely amazing drums!
Sound and play nearly like an acoustic set! Relearning to play after a 45 year hiatus. Originally played on a 60s era Slingerland kit and these drums bring back many fond memories. I am now retired and live in a townhouse in a private golf course community among other boomer types, so the quiet vdrums are perfect for me. I've been waiting for Roland to come out with an affordable, highly functional, and realistic-sounding electronic kit, and the TD-17KVX finally meets those requirements.

Get an SD-Card
Awesome kit and even better when you record your sessions on SD Card. I also got a USB SD Card reader so I can transfer files to my laptop easily. It's quick an easy system for rehearsing, recording and playback.
