Look, we're talking about a spare tire winch UNDER a truck. I replaced the last one before I ever had a chance to use it. So for a product I'm looking for a fit and value and this provides both. Went on easily, worked like a charm. Real test is if I need to use it and it's still operational. When that day comes (if) I'll amend my review.

A Must for the Rust Belt

I live in a state that uses lots of salt on the roads in the winter. The "safety" catch on the original winches rusts in place locking the spare in position after a couple of years. So when you need your spare tire it can't removed from the storage position. Newer style GM winches can't be modified to remove the safety, this one doesn't even have one. The paint was a little thin on the winch so I repainted before installation.

Fits 2006 GMC Sierra SLE!

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab. This winch bolted right up in place of the old OEM unit. This winch doesn't have that darned latching mechanism GM's winch does so with this one you can actually get the tire down without taking the whole assembly apart - just as it should be. I wish I'd bought this sooner.
