Every color is vibrant and beautiful
I have always loved coloring but have used markers. I finally tried color pencils and love these Castle Art supplies one. They come in a wonderful case and have so many different colors to choose from. My only holdup is they arent very sharp when they arrive but a $2 sharpener fixed that problem other than so far I love them

More pinks and purples than any other set I own
Hinged lid. Nice, sturdy tin. Acceptable blending. Good layering. Achieved cardstock coverage in 3-4 layers. Some dust. No crumbling or breaking. Sharpened excellently. Mild hand fatigue. Few neutral colors. Many bright colors. I'll use these in my Maria Trolle books that have so many flowers. I like these pencils.

Very Good Pencil
I am surprised by the quality of these pencils, color laydown good, selection of colors very good, blending is great, etc, etc. I am a pencil snob and have many sets of high quality pencils, but I have been looking for a set to take when I travel and for sketching. Tried so many with poor results but kept on searching; finally I found this set. I would say that these pencils compare with Derwent Colorsoft, which I also have. I can give my Prismas, Polychromos, Luminance, and Caran D'ache a rest. I have been doing a lot of pencil work and it kills me to use my "good" pencils for sketching, etc. Now I can do my sketch, drawing, even coloring books without seeing $$$ flying out the window. This is a good pencil at a more than reasonable price.

You will not be disappointed
There are a lot of things to talk about. Even though I am going to write about some cons I do believe that overall it is a 5 star product. The only con that I have with this product is the package design. First, I love the package design meaning the black tin box and the set of three trays that come inside. Everything is nice and neat and packs in really nice. Some cons are, it is a tin box which means that you will probably have dents in the box or will be getting dents in the box. My box came with a dent at the bottom but not bad enough to where the box itself has issues laying on a flat surface or have any issues taking the pencils in and out or opening and closing. Also, I love the little handles that come attached to each tray so that you can simply lift it in and out of the box. The con with this is I have had two straps already break, or I should say the metal piece that attaches inside the hole does not want to stay in place so taking the trays in and out are a little bit harder not being able to use the straps. The only other con is that the pencils are in their own holder inside the tray but they are jammed in there too tightly. So when you get a pencil out more than likely other pencils will come out as well. Now on with the pros. These are amazing pencils. If you are just looking for colored pencils then I suggest these. I have used Prismacolor most of my life and have art shows and do coloring on a regular basis. These colored pencils blend really well and since there are so many colors you really have the option to go a shade or two lighter or darker without even pushing hard. If you need to apply more pigment it does not take much and they are smooth. This set has a lot of purples and pinks in it, more than I have seen. There is a good variety of color to where I do not think you will be disappointed at all. The actual pencil itself is thick and strong making it less likely to break using it or sharpening it. I love the black color of the pencil with the appropriate color at the top, it makes the eyes more relaxed when looking for a color. Also all the colors have numbers instead of names making organization and memorization easier when searching for colors. I will be be using these pencils from now on. These are professional, bright, reasonably priced and just plain awesome to use.

Great pencils
The Castle colored pencils came in a sturdy and elegant thin case with plastic trails (elastic holders are the must). The pencils have a good wood casing, numbered (no color names), are externally colored in black, and have the pencil color painted on their bottom. The color on the bottom do not exactly match with the pencil lead, so it is good to make swatches before to color with them. They are very pigmented pencils and the degree of lead softness somehow is not very homogeneous, where the clear colors are harder than the darker ones (in this case some pencils are very soft). I haven’t had issues with breaking leads, so far. The colors are very beautiful, but some are too similar. I loved the huge number of pinks and greens. I did not have any problem of wax bloom and the pencils blended really nicely at a glance (more tests to follow). In general, I loved these pencils and its price is really cheap for their quality. Thank you!

Awesome colored pencils
I bought the 120 set of Castle Art pencils after enjoying the 72 count set. The set comes in a heavy durable tin, the pencils are organized in plastic trays that have little rubber bands to help pick up and separate the trays, there are 3 trays total. The pencils are round barrel with a matte black coating and the end of the pencil is painted with the core color. The color indicator is close but not exact to color so having a swatch sheet is preferable when using them. The pencils are numbered from 1 to 120. The leads are made of primarily wax, they do give off a slight odor when you open this, this does fade over time. The cores, or leads, are soft and creamy making them super easy to work with on various types of paper. The pencils lay down in beautiful rich hues and the set has many beautiful colors, specifically purples, pinks, a few greens and blues, that are not in other budget sets. The pencils do layer quite well, I was able to do up to 5 layers of colors without any issues at all, unlike some other brands I have tried in the same price range. Because they are soft they also blend quite well without the need of blending solutions, pencils or the like. I find these pencils are perfect for artistic coloring. While these are not professional Artist grade pencils I do feel that they fall easily within in the Student grade. These pencils are an amazing value and the one set I would recommend to anyone looking for an outstanding soft core budget pencil.

Amazing
(10/9/18)I didn't know what to expect, but I love them so far. Just got them today so I am still trying them out but first impressions are really good. The colors or beautiful and I really appreciate the #s on each pencil. They also lay down very smooth and dont show pencil lines. Very pleased. I plan to create a color chart and color a few pages, so I will update with pictures and a full review soon. 5 Stars so far though.

Excellent value for money
I own all the high end pencils such as Holbein , all the Caran d’Ache , FC Polys etc. I also have a few budget sets and vowed never to buy budget again as you get what you pay for. So here I go buying this castle art set and all I can say is WOW. They are fantastic, the colors are vibrant , go on smoothly and blend well. I’m very impressed. I do wish they had color names but overall these pencils are excellent value for money if you are on a budget. I’d list the budget pencils NOT to buy but will not.

Clap Your Hands if you Love Soft Core Colored Pencils!
I had been reticent in the past to purchase Castle Art Supplies because I was unfamiliar with the brand name. My loss! I decided to take a risk when I noticed they now offered a 120 pencil set. Boy! Am I glad I did! I took them right out the smartly designed tin case and took them for a "test drive." Well, you know how it goes with a new car, don't you? You say you are just going to drive around the block, but you love your new car so much you end up driving all over town the rest of the day! Same scenario! This very nice family owned business reached out to me to inquire if everything was alright with my order even before they arrived. As it turned out there were some bumps in the road with the pencils getting to me, but not due to Castle Art Supplies. And their intervention set matters straight! I was so impressed by their customer support that I immediately wanted to test their product. With this much attention to detail, their pencils have got to be top notch! And I wasn't wrong! Remember the car analogy? Well I ended up coloring with these pencils all afternoon, and into the evening, and Yep! Into the night! What a joy they are to color with! Let me say that again! What a joy they are to color with! Attached is a quick picture I colored on my first attempt using these pencils. I tried to use several different types of color combinations to give you a good idea of the vibrancy of these colors. This wonderful picture is from "Hidden Paradise, an Adult Coloring Book" by the artist and Brazilian illustrator, Cris Lopez. They are so smooth and creamy, and indeed glide over the page like "melted butter!" They drive like a new Cadillac coming off the showroom floor! I swear! If I had first tried these I wouldn't have invested all that money in the Prismacolor, Marco Renoir, and the eight other different sets I own! This one set has all the colors you need! And if not, then blending will definitely give you the hue that you want! I'm sold! My future coloring needs will be handled through Castle Art Supplies! And NO! This was not a paid advertisement! So clap your hands for these soft core pencils while they take a bow!

Better than Expectations
Honestly, at the ~$20 price point, I wasn't expecting much more than a set of colored pencils. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that 120 colors really spans the breadth of the rainbow. It's a fantastic collection of colors, neatly organized in a sturdy tin to keep them all in. The numbers on the pencils are awesome for reorganization, especially when my kids want to borrow "blue". The pencils are light and the coloring touch feels soft and usable. I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, just a guy who is enjoying these new colored pencils. A great buy.
