I can’t tell you how impressed I am with this inexpensive light option. I used this light on my video camera while covering Hurricane Florence. The light is powerful for being a small LED panel, and doesn’t have to plug into your camera battery and drain that. I got significant usage for one charge. I used it on and off for about three days on a twelve-hour shift. Probably at least for about 3-4 hours of camera time. I also didn’t have time to cover this battery with any weather proof cover and used it while in the storm. Everything was significantly wet, and I was really surprised how this little light preformed. I was expecting it to crap out because it’s not really a brand I’m familiar with using. I was amazed at how much it could light up. The color temperature dial is life changing. The light is bi-color which is vital to me in my industry when I must move into different areas quickly and can’t manually dial in my white balance. If you do live video, or even have to do something quickly being able to go from more warm tones to color ones is essential. It’s also light in weight and is easy to assemble. The hot shoe mount isn’t expensive, but I haven’t run into any issues. You just simply have to make sure you have it screwed on tightly. This light is a must have for newbies like myself. It literally made my shots look so much better. In a fast-paced industry quality inexpensive gear is essential. I’m lending it out to another videographer to test to see if he is as impressed as I am. I will order this product, and other products from this maker because I'm that satisfied with it.

I bought this for streaming instead of the Elgato streaming light as this is significantly cheaper. I also use it for working on projects. (Stars indicate more detail below) What I liked: - easy to use - stylish (subjective) - really bright at max* - Amazing range in brightness and temperature** - super slim yet decently sized - fair weight for its size - Tripod/cold shoe mount included*** - came with rechargeable battery and wall charger**** What I don’t like: - light is harsh unless you’re at really low settings - no Gels included to soften light. - mine did not come with cable to run off of wall outlet. Useful when out on the go, but not when you’re at home streaming. *video shows it lighting up in a pitch black room. unfortunately I couldn’t show the rest of the room for privacy but I can assure you it can light the whole place up. However definitely not evenly like a regular light bulb. Room is 14 x 10 (feet) ** video does not do temperature justice, could not dial in manual color temp perfectly as room was pitch black. *** Tripod/cold shoe mount was a nice add but it’s very flimsy. It can be tightened so it’s fine to use on a tripod, but I wouldn’t put it on my camera if on the move. **** when increasing brightness the battery level goes down by one bar and goes back up when decreasing brightness. Can’t put into words why that’s useful but it is. Wouldn’t leave it at max period.

This light for video or photography is amazing. I have bought so many important and expensive A/V types of equipment including in home theater realm .... sight unseen ..... over the last decade and a half simply from reading the on line Amazon reviews from owners. When you see a pattern of references from upward of 70 -80% that rave about something it's always a good sign. With this light I did not even read that long. One of the remarks from a buyer here early on that caught my eye was, it was "shockingly good for the price". Have to agree. If I saw this light in one of my local pro video or photo shops and got to hold it and turn it on and get a feel for its technology without knowing the price, I would have been guessing like $150. Things that are amazing. First off with a modern full frame awesome sensor camera such as the Sony A7r III I don't need often a lot of light for fill. But at 100% in a dark room it throws a lot. What is beautiful as others have mentioned is the diffusion and softness of the light. And my jaw dropped when I saw the wide angle throw of the light. Seriously it is at 170 -180 degrees. Never in 30 years of seeing on camera lights have I ever seen that wide of a throw. For still photography can you say ultra wide lenses in situations where they are needed and light is needed, long as you're not expecting miracles in big spaces with its output. Then the reportedly high CRI index of the completely adjustable by one click or quick spin through the clicks of 3300-5600K. Push same button on back and that range switches to cover the intensity level. And as someone else mentioned and I confirmed, when dialed to a dimmed level and mounted on my camera it does not seem to create any LED flicker or colored horizontal stripes in the images. I had this happen to a few shots before I discovered it with another dimmed LED light with the camera set to "Silent Shutter". Was told on DPReview that was a bugaboo for most cameras if they had that capability, you needed to shoot with manual shutter and then "usually" were OK. Did this a week ago and was OK with another light before this arrived. And lastly the beautiful blue information window on the back where the control button is. Always on and pleasing to look at but shows you everything you are set for ..... color temp, light intensity 0 - 100% and so, so valuable .... the remaining level of your batteries charge. And sweet seemingly spring loaded snap in and snap out battery catch. Very positive and effort free. I'd give this light 10 stars if I could. Plan to buy at least 1 more.

I'll be rather brief here, but this little light is so simple to use, so well-built for the price and bright enough...It's a crazy good value. So easy to adjust brightness and color temp, both with the same twist knob and even a brass 1/4-20 socket instead of the cheesy plastic socket of some other, even more expensive lights. Now, to be fair, this isn't gonna blow out your subject when used outdoors on a sunny day, but it provides enough light or fill light to get modest jobs done well. Really like this little light!!! Viltrox, you kick ass!

Very versatile LED light panel. The ability to control both the brightness and color temperature is very useful. Having a rechargeable battery pack, is also very convenient (unit can also be powered via DC power supply). However, I really wouldn't recommend using this unit mounted on a camera hotshoe. Although not heavy it is still large and bulky relative to the camera body. I purchased a lightweight adjustable tripod to hold this light. This also allows flexibly placing the light source. Dead straight on to the subject, as would be the case with camera mounting, is not usually the best position in any event.

I like this light it is priced quite reasonably for what you get. If I need another one I will not hesitate to order it again. One thing, I will point out, it comes with one battery and a charger. I ran the light for 2 hours and it appeared to have not even put a dent in the battery time available. However, I had a wall charger and as I use it as a colmight to brighten up Zoom and Skype video chats, I now have it plugged into the wall and the battery is not even attached. If you need an excellent LED white light that is made well, but one of these.

***Update*** The merchant reached out and said the my will give me a working replacement free of charge. It arrived today and does work as expected. I was able to keep the original light and I will still keep it in my kit since it does work excepting the power switch. I wasn't expecting much with the light at the price point it was. It does work... unfortunately thought the on/off switch is not working. Thankfully it is stuck in the 'On' state so I can plug in the battery or the AC adaptor and the light will work. From other reviews, I checked the dimmer and the color temp knob. It is working fine for me in that regard. Honestly, the light functions very well despite the switch. I find the color temp pretty accurate and it is super bright and I can see three of these used in a 3 point light interview situation. Personally I am using mine for streaming in the evening hours and a single light with some bounce from the walls works well. I sent an email to the store regarding the power switch, they asked me to send a video to them but I can via Amazon. So I am uploading the video here. If they correct the issue, I will update my review.

I was turned onto this light by a photographer my organization had used at an event, and I was quite impressed at the size and performance of the light for the cost. I purchased one for myself, and after trying it out for myself, I bought a second one. I was quite pleased to discover that the color temperature and brightness was very consistent between the two fixtures, even though I hadn't purchased them at the same time, and they probably didn't come from the same batch. I primarily use these for general photography and minimal video, and I think they're great. Certainly not bright enough for a bigger photo shoot, but great for smaller projects, video blogging, portraits, etc.

I bought these specifically for making slow motion videos with a gopro and they are perfect for that. They are really light weight, super bright and have easy temperature control. Very reasonably priced as well. The recommended tripods are perfect for them. They work well with both battery and plug in power. Just one drawback is that they are very directional like a spotlight and wish they came with diffusers. I still think they are worth nearly 5 stars but need to figure out a good way to diffuse.

I needed some kind of effective light for "run and gun" style filming. I Researched plenty and in the end I decided on the Viltrox L116T. I am using it with a BMPCC (Blackmagic Pocket Cinema). It is very bright and I do like the different light settings. The battery seems good so far, no immediate complaints, although batteries can always last longer. The only con was its' size was slightly larger than expected. A little big to use in some applications on top of the camera and it feels like it is better mounted to a setup which would be used in a stationary filming spot. That being said,, it does still work fine attached to the camera when on the move, you get used to the difference in camera balance. In the end, it provides what I need at the moment and for the price, I really can't complain about anything. Not long ago, an item like this would have cost way more money. I'm just happy to see gear becoming more accessible and affordable. It seems like a sturdy, quality product!
