This tripod looks and feels very nice. The material feels sturdy, and the various adjustable parts make very satisfying clicks and seem very well-designed. I really like the design of the little orange tabs that lock the legs into place when you unfold it. It feels like a good quality professional tripod. The only downside I see is that it does not fold up as small as some travel tripods. But, if you aren’t planning to use it for travel, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing - the size this folds up to is fine for keeping in the trunk of your car, for instance.

I took time to use this first for more than a week before I make a review so here it is. This is an honest review. I initially bought this because I need a travel tripod for my mirrorless camera that has a monopod function. 1. PACKAGING - 5/5 This is packaged very well. There really is nothing more to say. 2. DESIGN/LOOKS - 3.5/5 I personally think that the design is not that great. It looks like it's built with poor materials. Specially the ball head plate. but... (continue reading on) 3. BUILT QUALITY - 5/5 Indeed the looks will definitely decieve you. Because this actually performs well! Despite the very light weight. This is a very light weight tripod but actually has sturdiness to it! What test did I do that makes this tripod sturdy you ask? Well I accidentally dropped it and roll over by the hill. Some few scuffs here and there but everything seems to work just fine! 4. FUNCTION - 4.5/5 Of course my main intention is to buy a tripod that has a monopod function and this one has what I'm looking for. What threw me off is the design that when you detch the monopod leg, you have to screw in a separate screw before you can attach the ball head on to the monopod. I think there should be a design where the separate screw is already fixed and attached to it. Was supposed to give this a 3.5/5 function score. But you'll be surprised to how high this can go... so high that you'll need a stool. Some people will think it's stupid. But there have been a lot of instances before where I'd wish my tripod would go higher. 5. OVERALL - 4.5/5 Overall, this tripod should handle any mirrorless dslr. I do not really recommend using this with heavy DSLR. I give this a score of 4.5/5.

This is the best tripod ever. It is comparable to Manfrotto, if not, better in the same class. This one of the very few that can raise your camera up to 77”. I was able to take steady shots of my subject on an inclined surface. The tripod is really sturdy and rigid. It is very easy to take photos especially long exposures. I mounted my Sony A7Rii + 24-105 G with vertical grip with batterie making it a 10lbs camera gear and this tripod handled it securely.

I've had a few cheaper tripods over the years for casual kid sports and family events. In traveling with these, they've bent or broken at times, and there were issues in getting a high enough shot. I purchased this tripod to try and record volleyball matches. I received it in time for this past weekend's event. First off, this is taller than most other tripods I've used and allows me to mount a tablet above my head, which means most people walking in front don't show up, or you see just the top of a head. I'm 6'and I appreciate this. Second, the quality seem high, with strong aluminum that has 3 extensions to hold this high. Grabbing and moving the three legs is easier than other designs with the fold down center holders. This also folds up smaller and can almost get into a backpack. Should be no problem in luggage. So far, in using this across a few hours, I'm pleased with the design.

little skeptical because of the low price compared to most tripods. I used it on all kinds of different terrain and in different kinds of weather. The tripod performed very well in every situation. My main use will be for landscape and nature. I used A camera with various lenses for landscape photos. At one point I switched to a 150 to 600mm lens to photography hummingbirds. I don’t recommend using this size of lens on the tripod. However, the tripod handled the lens fairly well. The various size lenses for landscape worked great. The tripod is very light and sturdy for the weight. The ease of use is very impressive. The clamps on the legs worked very well. The 360-degree ball head works very smooth and easy. The quick release that comes with the tripod makes it very nice to remove your camera. The center column is ideal for height adjustments and has a hook for weight if needed. The tripod folds up quickly and fits nicely in the padded carrying case you receive. The way the tripod folds up the head is well protected and there is even a sleeve that fits on the ball head for even more protection. I really cannot comment on the durability since I have only used it for 2 weeks. Switching over to a monopod was very simple. That is a nice added feature to the tripod. The tripod meets all the requirements I was looking for. Light weight, simple to use, compact, sturdy and not a price that was going to break the bank. I would highly recommend this tripod for use in landscape and nature photography. With the compact size and padded carrying case it goes every were I go.

Just received it yesterday. The first impression was awesome. It's very light and quite high. Usually, tripot at this high is a lot heavier. The ball head is metal, but the quick release plate is some kind of high quality hard plastic. It holds up my full frame DSLR and the heavy lens 70-200mm (total ~ 12lbs) very sturdy. It will be my traveling tripot companion. The locking clips for extended legs are made by the same high quality hard plastic as the quick release plate. I think without abusing it, it will last quite long. Will give updates if I find something wrong with it.

Ok I was completely skeptical considering the price point but decided to give it a go. I was very pleasantly surprise! I own a few tripods so I compared this geekoto with an old manfrotto 3001 and a Zomei Z818. I was also able to borrow a vevo and a manfrotto befree. I wasnt kind to the geekoto putting it through things I would never do in real life. Obviously not as sturdy as the 3001 manfrotto but that's a beast which can double as a weapon. But against the others it shined. Made of aluminum and easily foldable this general purpose/travel tripod checks all the boxes. Its lightweight, sturdy and looks good. I took this baby hiking perfect tool and the monopod option is the best I've seen yet. This tripod has become my favorite and go to in most cases. When you find a product that can hold it's own against (and in some cases beat) the much higher priced competition you simply have to take notice. My only complaint is I would have preferred a lever/handle instead of a kbob on the ball head. I highly recommend this unit. So my Geekoto tripod arrived late in the day three days ago. It was well package and comes with a well made carrying bag with strap for easy carrying for those days you may not want to carry a camera pack. I wasn't looking to upgrade my Carbon Fiber MyFoto tripod but wanted a lite weight tripod for my wife. I'll admit she is happy with my selection. For the last two days I have been putting it to the test to see how it would perform with my Nikon D800 and wife's D90 with lens ranging from 16mm to 600mm with exposures up to 8 seconds. On the plus side: 1. Height/Weight - The height of this tripod is really good actually taller than my Carbon Fiber tripod and it's the same weight! 2. The panoramic ball head is well made and showed no creeping even with my longest lens. I did produce a 6 exposure sunrise panorama (shown in my examples) which stitched together very well even though I wasn't using my RRS pano head. I also like that the head is Arca-Swiss compatible, you can always use the included plate. The center extender has a a wrist strap attached making it a welcome feature if you are using the monopod. 3. The legs of this tripod has three angle positioning so you can always level it in any circumstance you may find yourself working. The legs extend using a snap locking mechanism which for me personally is not my favorite but I have been using a tripod since the late 1970's so old habits are hard to change! For my wife these are perfect as the leg is either locked in place or free to move. It also comes with an allen wrench to tighten anything that may become loose over time. 4. Build quality is good and this one seems sturdy. I can say when testing the night after it arrived in the desert evening winds that I was glad it had a center hook below the central extender that I was able to hang my Mindshift Backpack from to help keep it steady when I was useing a 600mm lens to photograph the Hawk at Sunset. 5. A feature that I didn't try was the monopod. One leg unscrews from the base, the center extender attaches to the leg to create a monopod a definite plus for some. 6. This tripod comes with a good quality bag and a separate cover for the head mount to avoid any scratches on the tripod legs when folded. The color scheme is nice and makes for a good looking tripod. Overall I would say the build is not of the same quality as my Carbon Fiber tripod but then again neither is the price tag! For the price and the accessories of the Geekoto tripod I would say it's an outstanding value. I am sharing some of the images made using the Geekoto tripod with this review. They were made using either a Nikon D800 or Nikon D90. I'll also be sharing my review on Facebook and to other members of the Photography Groups I belong to. I hope you find this review helpful.

The 77 inch Geekoto tripod is quite versatile for the price. I dare you to find another tripod at that height for under $100. Then when you're ready to go it collapses and folds up to just 19 inches. Definitely an ingenious design they have going for them. The ballhead is suppose to support about 17lbs, but I don't think I would ever try to reach that max load capacity. The Geekoto is also the lightest 'premium' tripod I own, which makes it an ideal choice for travel. 1 leg can also be removed and you can place the ball head on it and you now have an impromptu monopod (though you'll have to carry around a screw mount to make it possible). Last notable feature for the Geekoto is you can pull the center column out and shoot upsidedown to get the lowest possible angle. This feature is very handy for any tripod to have. After putting the tripod through it's paces in the field I can tell you a few things things about it. first thing, this tripod is TALL. It's beneficial to have such tall legs to really see above some things that might otherwise be in the way on a shorter tripod. Shooting upsidedown, low to the ground, has also been a huge advantage for certain compositions. If you haven't tried it yet, do it! It's even easier if your camera has a flip out screen. The Geekoto folds up significantly well considering how tall the tripod is fully extended. The center column has 2 extending steps and they really do cram in every little bit they can. I never tried the monopod feature on the Geekoto, but if anything it makes a good defense stick when you're out in the wild (just a thought, haven't had that situation come up). A few downsides I came across, and really I'm just adding what would make the experience better: The legs don't feel as durable as I would like, they seem a little thin to my liking. But it keeps the weight down at the same time, so this is more of a personal concern than anything. I tend to use multiple tripods when shooting, depending on my adventure (Star Tracker, Panorama Head, Standard Ball Head). The ballhead that comes with the Geekoto has a different base plate than my other tripod so switching between them is a process of swapping base plates. This problem can be remedied by purchasing a separate ballhead that uses the same base plate. Again personal concern, but thought it should be mentioned. All in all, the Geekoto 77 inch tripod is a welcome addition to the arsenal and I enjoying using it any chance I can get. I will try and update the photos of the tripod as I get new ones of it. Thanks for reading. (This is my first review of anything on Amazon! I'll keep up on new ones as time goes on)

I was in the market for a lightweight tripod that was inexpensive and versatile. Something that if I lost I wouldn’t be too worry about losing it. As a landscape photographer, I need a sturdy tripod when shooting HDR and long exposures. My budget was $100, so I started looking. After spending sometime researching tripods, I found this Geekoto Tripod on Amazon. This is an Aluminum tripod, that extends to over 75 inches and only weighs a little over 3 lbs. For the price, I figured I’ll use it once and give it away after my photoshoot in California. I have to say that this tripod is way under priced. It is just as sturdy as my Benro travel tripod at less than ½ the price. It has the tallest maximum height and the most flexible range of positions of any tripod models I’ve used, and it’s very stable. It’s also easy to set up and break down, and built to withstand years of use in my opinion. If you are looking for an inexpensive tripod this is for you, you will not be disappointed.
