Don't listen to anyone that gives this night guard one star. If you don't get a good fit with this guard it is user error. After reading some of the reviews I was concerned and went to the SISU website. They had a live person available for chat and videos in YouTube. I was warned if I sacked too hard, the fit would be too snug and I could loosen it by dipping it for a few seconds in hot water. I needed water about 150° to soften up the guard (over 136° and below 160°). This is as good of a product that I was fitted for by a TMJ pain specialist two years ago. That product met an unfortunate demise while I was sleep walking and this is a great interim device or could even be more permanent. This is not a boil and bite guard per say. Other guards are soft gel which I shred in my sleep from clenching.

I'm not sure why this product doesn't have more reviews, especially compared to other night guards. My dentist recommended a couple of the more highly reviewed (as far as quantity) but I didn't like what I read in the negative reviews. So I did some more digging and found that this guard seemed better (not as bulky, able to remold multiple times if needed). I LOVE this guard. I was dreading using one of these, especially with reading so many poor reviews about mouth guards in general. I didn't know if I'd make it through one night, and I certainly didn't want to pay for a customized guard via dentist. It took about 5 tries the first day I attempted to mold it before I thought it was a good fit. It's very simple to mold, and I am terrible with this kind of thing. It fit well but my teeth and gums hurt a little the next morning. I remolded it again the next day, about 6 or 7 times until I got it right. I've been using it ever since then and it has been great. The most beneficial effect is finally - no more throbbing headaches in the middle of the night and lasting throughout the next day. I didn't even know that teeth grinding was causing the headaches until my dentist pointed it out. I would take Advil or Tylenol with little to no effect (which is unusual for me). I have not had one single headache since using the night guard. I used to think that grinding was yet another thing dentists told their patients they have in order to make more money. But when my dentist thoroughly explained what he observed, as well as recommended I try the less expensive route first, I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did. I wish I would've started using one years ago. It probably would've prevented the severe gum recession I have currently, as well as spared me from countless needless headaches. I definitely recommend this hidden gem of a mouth guard.

I am a heavy grinder and clencher and chew through night guards like candy every 3-6 months. Even with insurance, the cost was no longer feasible. On my own, I tried a higher rated guard, and got horrible headaches, so back to the dentist I went. He explained the other was too soft, clenching, neck movement, etc but conceded it made no sense for me to keep spending $ at that rate and rec'd Sova with adjustment. So I purchased, took it into his office, and he showed me how to cut it to fit just my upper front teeth. Perfection! I save over $360 each time and the most recent one made it exactly 6 months b/c i was able to reshape it twice, so the savings really is greater...no headaches, no money spent on repairing chipped teeth, durable guard with custom fit. Thank you, Dr. Snow!! Molding tips/considerations: Keep in mind the intent of a guard is to prevent your back teeth (molars) from making contact, so a guard doesn't have to wrap fully around each tooth (front & back)...I have big horse teeth, so truly not I heat water in microwave (not recommended) for 1:38 minutes, drop the guard into the H20 and take the wee bowl into the bathroom immediately with a butterknife. I prefer using that bc the handle is longer and blade is wider so I have more control. Once the guard is clear, I use the butterknife to pull it out then wait a few seconds for my fingers to be able to touch it. Using those divots to line up the guard to my front teeth positioning it at the half point (horse teeth), I then follow directions per Sova not worrying about whether or not it wraps around my back teeth. After molded and hardened, I pull out my handy dandy pair of scissors, and trim the guard to fit only my front 6 teeth. Guard objective met: back molars not grinding or clenching, front teeth protected, no headaches. You can use warm water or a silver nail file if you need to round out any edges. This process sounds tedious, but if you eat these like I do and need ti save the $, it is well worth it. With time, tis a breeze; end to end this now takes me 5 minutes. I clean my guard with my toothbrush when i brush my teeth in the morning...tis super easy, takes a couple of passes and pops back in the case

I clench my jaw pretty bad in my sleep. I must do some grinding too since my dentist mentioned the wear on my teeth. She recommended a mouth guard made through them which as we all know is about $1 million. I have a small mouth and tried the ones from the drugstore but they were way too bulky. I am also known to take things out in my sleep (did it with my headgear 🤐 And retainer when I was young) so I would always take those big bulky mouth guards out. This mouthguard is great!!! It is easy to mold and allows you to redo it quite a few times if you don't get t right the first time (which I had to do). It fits tight enough that I don't take it out in my sleep and I don't wake up with an achy jaw. Be careful when making it not to make it too tight. That is why I had to redo it a few times. I have a dentist appt next week so we will see what she thinks of it. My husband has had two professional ones made that have cost $600-$800. This mouthguard is comparable to those professional ones for a fraction of the price!!!

After browsing other reviews I would have to disagree with the majority of them. After trying 4 different night guards several years ago and hating them all, I discovered Sova and have never looked at another. It is by far the lowest profile guard out there and works perfectly with my narrow jaw. I can actually close my lips naturally around it! I recently took my Sova mouth guard to my dentist for a good cleaning and he was very impressed. He said a night guard should not be flexible or soft, it should be hard to stand up to grinding and clinching to absorb the jock and pressure. As far as ease of molding, if you follow the instructions to the letter and advice of other reviewers you should have no trouble. Yes your mouth may be a bit uncomfortable at first because, if you think about it, you are now holding all your teeth where they should be instead of pushing them forward when clinching and grinding. After a few nights, your mouth adjusts and you won’t even notice it, just like braces or a retainer. Also, I found my teeth slowly sliding forward from clenching, that forward movement has come to a stop since wearing Sova. Another positive result is with my gums. My dentist measures my receding gums due to clenching and Sova has considerably slowed the recession. I have found that I’ve become so used to wearing this mouth guard that I can’t sleep without it. Save yourself $600+ in a custom night guard from your dentist and get a Sova!

Waking up with massive headaches, sore jaw, swollen lymph nodes and a chipped tooth I finally realized I clench my jaw at night lol Went on the search for a guard, this is my second. First one I didn't care for, it was bulky and a pain to mold. I'm incredibly happy with SOVA! It was super easy to mold, messed up the first time and easily remolded it. Super light weight and can barely feel it in my mouth. I like that it's one side too, found the guard with upper and lower to be annoying. I no longer dread putting in my night guard before I go to bed thanks SOVA!

Fits well and easy to form around teeth. I formed it on my bottom teeth to replace the night guard I had from my dentist. It feels lightweight and less chunky than my previous night guard. It also has a translucency to it, so it's not stark white or too noticeable either. Instructions are easy to follow. It's mold-able up to 20 times, so don't worry about getting it perfect the first time. I got a solid fit my second try and it actually helped to get it somewhat formed the first time before dipping it back in the hot water for a better fit. The first fitting attempt is awkward to fit into the mouth because it feels too wide, but once you work it gently around your teeth and suck the air out you can feel it fitting better. Also helps to press the guard against your teeth using your finger tips, via pressing on the outside of your cheeks and lips while your mouth is closed and creating suction at the same time. Suck the air out gently for the first minute, then a little firmer as it sets up. Sets in 3 minutes. I microwaved a cup of water for 2 minutes and softened the guard until it appeared clear. Use a fork to CAREFULLY fish it out. Instructions say that it will mold together if it folds on itself, so avoid doing that!

Hallelujah, a cheap night guard I could mold to my uppers. Lightweight and perforated. Much better than the expensive, tight guards for my lowers that I kept getting from the dentist. No issues molding, thought the water really needed to be above 140 degrees, maybe 150? And I'm not going to win a 'beautifully molded bite guard' contest, but it works for me. Been using for a few nights now and the achy jaw feeling is going away. Life is good again.

I grit my teeth at night -- hard. After waking up with a sore jaw for weeks and almost cracking an old cavity filling, I decided I needed a night guard. I have braces and knew other traditional clear plastic ones would most likely damage them. My orthodontist would not fit any guard on me other her own $450 one, so I bought this guard and (against Sisu's recommendations) fitted it myself using the aluminum foil method found on their website ([...] It has worked wonderfully. I have been using this night guard for four months with braces and reshape it every month after my adjustment. I wake up with no pain at all, and my dentist didn't need to drill into my old filling to fill it again. On reshaping: It is slightly more stiff after the first molding but reshaping is definitely achievable if the guard is heated until transparent in hot water. On comfort: I can still talk with this on! The holes are great to avoid saliva buildup. I am able to fall asleep easily with it in. It has yet to come off while I sleep. I accidentally ordered two of these when I only needed one, and the seller promptly helped me send the extra back and I was refunded fully. Great customer service. I am so glad I saved my teeth with this!

This think is a little miracle! I have tried several other 'mold your own' guards to help with bruxism, but they are always super bulky and almost make me gag. This is so EASY to mold and feels great...almost like nothing in your mouth at all! I don't think the $400 guard my dentist tried to sell me would have been any better. I hope these continue to be available because they are fantastic! If you need to protect your teeth and don't want to pay a fortune....get one of these and give it a try. I just can't see how anyone could be disappointed with this.
