I saw this tripod and was wondering how it would be if it was priced the way that it is. It's AWESOME! Arrived Very well packed, comes with a carrying case to carry it, a velvet bag around the tripod head to protect it, great documentation, a leg that detaches to be used as monopod...fast to set up, very well made, sturdy, and within less than a minute I was setup and shooting pictures with it. Shot a panorama with my iPhone using a GLIF to hold the phone to the tripod that was the smoothest I've ever shot. I've used a BOGEN MANFROTTO Tripod for more than 20 years, it has now been replaced by this tripod which is a fraction of the cost, but out performs the more expensive one. DON'T WAIT!!! Buy this today!

First off, GEEKOTO is one bomb tripod. I've been looking at many different tripods before I bought one, and ended up getting this, and he doesn't disappoint! I've had GEEKOTO for about a month and travelled from North American to Australia with him, and he was with me at all times (on the plane that is). He is small, light weight, and has some style to him. ladies love him, other tripods want to be him. He can get down low, but never dirty, but can also hang out at your eye-level. He is super easy to clean. I went to do some sunrise shots on the beach the other day, and we were standing in the sand. He got sand all up in his locking mechanism, and I took him apart within minutes to clean him up, let him dry, and put him back together. He is tough, too. I knock him on rocks, hit him on bricks, and have dropped him once, and still works like a charm. He has some scuffs, but nothing major! For what he is, he is very sturdy, compact, and lightweight! An amazing product at an amazing price point. Don't have to sell the leg to get this thing.

I've used many tripods over the years from plastic to aluminum to steel and this one I'd put at the top of my list. This product is incredibly versatile and has features that I've never seen before. The ball mount head may be the best part about this. Most tripods are limited on what angle they can shoot downward at, but this one can go all the way to 90 degree (i.e. pointing straight down). Because it uses a ball mount, the durability should be excellent. The option to use it as a monopod (and/or walking stick) only adds to the value. I've also never seen a tripod that would allow you to invert the tripod head to beneath/beside the legs, for extreme closeups or to get the right angle. I'd wager to say that about 90% of this is metal and the few plastic parts are minimal in their use. The speed at which you can adjust and the precision those adjustments offer, especially for doing panoramas, is top notch. Another feature which this has that I've not had before is the ability to use the legs in their furthest width. This offers great stability, you can even use it on a bed with kids running around and climbing on the bed. Again this has a double use, besides stability it offers you a shooting angle that most tripods can't get anywhere close to. As of right now I have no cons to mention, even the weight of the tripod is very low.

After using my trusty Velbon for twelve years, the head finally cracked open on me, so I decided it was time to get a new tripod, and I just happened to stumble upon Geekoto, so I decided to give them a shot. Overall, I am quite pleased with the build quality and ergonomics of the tripod! Pros Extremely light! The tripod is a ridiculously light two pounds! That makes it very easy for me to stick into my backpack and not worry about it. Geekoto also provides a nifty carrying case. Great construction. For such a light tripod, it is quite sturdy for holding cameras, and there is no play whatsoever when the legs are extended all the way. Good quality head! It reminds me of using Gitzo heads. Once you tighten the head, there is little to no wiggle, and it allows me to get the exact shot that I composed. Also, very smooth action when panning Monopod Functionality. This is probably the first tripod I've seen that can be used as a monopod. While I don't find myself needing to use a monopod often, I'll definitely be trying it out more often. Cons Not any that I can think of off the top of my head. The only small complaint that I have is that the quick release is plastic, but that's a small issue, and you just have to be careful. Check out my attached long exposure photos!

Update: This company has great customer service! They sent me a replacement which has no issues with the ballhead. It works perfectly. There is no wobble. It’s not very durable. No matter how much I tighten the knobs the camera still wobbles on the ball head. It’s also short. May be ok for a small, lightweight mirror less camera but it still wobbles on the ballhead.

I’m a professional photographer with demanding needs. I evaluated this tripod and found it to be an exceptional buy in its price range. Very sturdy and well-built and equal to a tripod costing over a hundred more. I love the ball head and the monopod option and love how lightweight it is. Perfect for my trip to Cuba! Only concern is the plastic clamps on the leg extenders. But, it was a $70 tripod. It over delivers on quality. I highly recommend but get the larger one!

This tripod is a lightweight. It's pretty compact. I like to flip lock levers for extending the legs. It's well-built for the money. It's got a hook on the bottom so I can hook my backpack for extra weight and more stability. the ball head that comes with it is okay it's made of plastic. I did replace the ball ad with a little bit heavier Duty bald head amount. That matches all my other gear like my sliders. It Holds my 14 in small slider very good and is very stable. It doesn't hold my 24 inch slider that well and keep stable. I do recommend that you replace the ball head Mount system. You can pick one up for about 20 bucks. That is more stable and made of a metal or aluminum. Versus plastic. I definitely recommend this tripod it's well-made small compact it's so easy to carry.

I purchased this tripod to serve as a more durable travel unit, and this tripod is a great choice for that purpose. The Geekoto 58" Compact Tripod is a score for the price. Made very well of aluminum, this unit is very lightweight but not flimsy. Construction is very good to excellent - I could not find any issue with leg locks, extending central tube with rotating locks works very well, and the 360 panorama ball head is a great addition over the standard tripod. I've used the tripod now several times and so far, this tripod is hitting the mark for what I need. I have two DSLRs with varying lenses and weights, and so far the tripod has handled that just fine. If you are using a long, wildlife telephoto lens, this tripod may not serve that purpose because this tripod is more appropriate for the "on the move" photographer who wants lightweight and quick setup and teardown. The 360 ball head is a very good component on this tripod - smooth action, removable, and fully adjustable. Works really well. I have a separate monopod, so sadly I have not put this part of the Geekoto tripod to the test. Looks easy enough to remove one leg and mount the tubular center right on and go. Setup and teardown is a breeze with this tripod. Quickly unlocking the legs and folding them up around the center tube also provides for great storage and protection for the head of the tripod. Lightweight at about 2 pounds makes this a travel-ready partner for your photography. Highly recommend this tripod in this price range, You could spend much more but this tripod does exactly what I needed it to do and this tripod is very affordable. Definitely give this tripod a look if you are looking for a great, lightweight, travel tripod/monopod that won't break the bank.
