I got this for the main purpose of capturing vehicles parked or passing by in front of my house as there was a DUI roll over in my front yard and to capture license plates if parked right in front. I get about 3-4 days (depending how many cars pass) of footage set at 1080 20 sec vid and one picture. I previously had it at 3 secs and then 10 sec vid but by the time the car passed the video would capture nothing. I can read the license plates as long as they are within 15-20ft, the car's plates in the middle of the street are hard to make out but i get to identify the vehicle. I put in 8 batteries and they drained within 2 days so i'll just hookup a cord later. The audio is a nice touch so I can hear what the exhaust or person sounds like. At night the picture is distorted due to low lighting but hey can't complain for the price. I put this on my lamp post and it blends well with the foliage.

We put out food for outside cats on our deck. By morning food was gone so wondered if cats alone were eating all the food. We got this Trail Camera from Amazon and set it up that very night. Directions were not to bad to understand. By morning we found out who the freeloaders were so will not leave cat food on the deck overnight any more.

3rd Review: The attached close up of an Oregon Jay proves the worth of this camera. This is precisely what I was looking for at close range. The photo was taken some 18-24 inches away. Look at the detail. Very nice. It took some two weeks for the bird to finally show up. This really is a 5 star camera, given my requirements for close up photos. It still has lots of battery power left on only 4 batteries. Download the photos and then blow them up. Pretty amazing. Second Review: So far it is working fine and I am running tests on how close it can get to birds. This fisheye type high F lense will work fine for deer, but I want it to take good close up pictures. I'll send photos when I have them. At 10ft away a hummingbird or any small bird is a mere dot. Right now I have the camera set to about 24 inches. In full sunlight the pictures are good. This will work great for deer and bear, even raccoons. I wish they had a camera with a fixed F1.2 50mm lense. The snaps on this camera drive me nuts. One has to get the hang of how to hold the camera because the snaps are so small. Downloading the photos is easy. Just hook up the cable to your computer and the camera. Boom, you get DCIM and you look at the photos. Programming this thing is simple. The menu is 200x better than cameras 20 years ago. In the forest I plan to mount this camera in a bird type box with a rain roof. I might buy one of those fake rocks and mount the camera into a cut out retangular hole. I am still not sure how this camera works for night shots. My early tests were dismal, but not a fair procedure. _____________________________________________ The camera is very small com pared with others I have owned, but does look and feel solid. This is my 4th trail cam in several years. This one works almost the same as every one of the trail cams to found on the market in the past 8 years or so. I bought this one because "there is no LED display in the area" when shooting pictures at night. On my other three cameras the deer, raccoons, opossums, and maybe the bear have no issue knowing something is seeing them. The animals ignore it and go on about their business. I am hoping that this camera is as fast as they suggest and gives me much clearer pictures. Most cameras can tell you there are deer, but the photos look cheap. I'm convinced that they use SLR camera shots, clean them up in Photoshop, and then publish as examples...ha! Manual: I have yet to buy a trail cam with an easy to read manual. The English in this manual is pretty good. The flaw is the light gray font 6 of the type. Before you do anything, find a high liner, sit down in a well lit up chair, put on your magnifiers and read the manual. It is important to hilite the various headings and sub-headings. Real men read the manual first. Dissatisfied customers almost always end thinking the camera is horrible because they do know how to work it. In my triple reading of the section on serial number, the number eluded me or were we supposed to just input any old number we liked? Baffled me so I wrote in nothing and cancelled out. In the past I have forgotten or lost passwords, so I left that blank as well. D card - this thing takes the tiny tiny SD card. The lip on the casing gets in the way so you need to be careful. My camera has a sloppy card insert and it took many pushes to finally get the card to stay in. It does not click easily into place like other trail cams. Once in, it did work and I was able to format it. It takes 5 seconds to format. Given this issue and the small nature of the SD I will have to use USB to download photos and videos. Soon I will be running the camera through various distance tests in daylight. I have yet to buy a trail cam with decent close up capabilities day or night. My interest is the 3 foot range. Most of these cameras have great difficulty getting good night shots because the IR beams wash out the animals. You get raccoons with day-of-the-dead eye sockets. __________________________________________ Mounting Bracket: All of my trail cams have either come with no mounting bracket or these badly outfitted ones. I went to HomeDepot and found the parts to greatly improve this bracket support permanently. The bolt on the bracket is 1/4" coarse. The two nuts that Toguard supplies are grossly inadequate for a good tight connection to the black mounting base. Buy a 1/4" black rubber gasket just like the one on the camera attachment bolt (the part that goes into the base of the camera). Next, get a 1/4" lock washer and a tiny tube of Lock-Tight. ------TAke off the two nuts. Put one back on and screw it down near as far as it will go. Put on the rubber gasket, which will fit tightly. You may need to turn it like a nut. Then put the black base on. Add a bit of Lock-Tight to the bolt. Put on the 1/4" lock washer. Then put on the second nut and screw it down. Gently use pliers and wrench to get a good torque on the nut. Note in the attached picture that I kept the bolt and nut below the level of the base so it does not interfere with getting a level installation. This really works superbly. Mine is on there permanently. Using only the two nuts requires extreme tightening that often comes loose no matter what you do. ____________________________________________
