I write this review in opposition to all the one star reviews complaining they aren't like the original. They are, to me, pretty darn close. From the other reviews, I was expecting terrible plain cheese balls. These are definitely not the store brand generic cheese balls. They have the same cheesy oily taste the older ones did, with perhaps a bit more airy crunch. I think the oil mix they use now is different, but they taste pretty much like they did in the late 90s to early 2000s so if you liked them then, give these a try now!

The GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY batch of Planters Cheez Balls!

There appears to be GOOD, BAD & UGLY batch of Planters Cheez Balls that Amazon has in stock. The BAD & UGLY are smaller in size, not very cheesy, not as puffy, and have holes all over the cheez balls. It has the following printed date codes on the bottom of the cannisters: P: 06 MAR 2019 02:24 E: 05 MAR 2020 XPZ4 I ordered a couple of 12 packs and both packs have the same date code and the contents, taste, and texture are nothing like the original Cheez Balls!!! A friend also ordered the same 12 pack here at Amazon and he received GOOD ones with the following prints: P: 12/DEC/2018 11:07 E: 12/DEC/2019 GPP2 The content, texture, and taste were so much fresher! This particular batch tasted just like the original Cheez Balls. Amazon having great customer service will replace both of my orders. I'm hoping to receive the fresh ones. I'll update this review when the replacements arrive. Update - the following batch of Planters Cheez Balls are also GOOD. Got these from another online store: P: 14/NOV/2018 11:27 E: 14/NOV/2019 GPP1 UPDATE: Amazon customer service came through once again!!! They replaced both of my orders and I received the original tasting/texture Planters Cheez Balls I came to love as a kid!!! Very puffy and cheesy, and it just melts in your mouth! Date code of GOOD replacements: P: 11/MAR/2019 12:36 E: 11/MAR/2020 GPP2 I understand I don't have enough sampling to make this conclusion, but so far, it appears that GPP1 and GPP2 are GOOD and XPZ4 are BAD & UGLY.

Just as addicting at 39 as they were at 13

I was concerned that these weren’t the same as the original based on other reviews. Happy to report, they are! Although the color is more fluorescent than I recall, one handful and it was like i was transported back to my youth. Airy, yet slightly greasy, and so delicious. Amazon - get more in stock!

Don’t listen to the hate, they’re good!

Brought me back to my childhood as I expected. The weird thing with them is they only have that old school flavor if you eat a few at a time. When I eat one it doesn’t quite taste the same. I think a lot of people say they don’t taste the same because maybe it’s been 20+ years and your taste buds aren’t the same guys lol. This 12 pack is all I’ll need for the rest of my life. It was fun to relive a memory.

Same old Cheez Balls!

Same old cheez balls! I still like them! They are easily over eaten though...be careful. I think folks complaining lost a taste for them or maybe taste buds changed since they had them last...it has been a very long time afterall lol Took FOREVER to get these delivered as they sold out so fast that I had to wait for mine for 2 months even though I ordered them on the very day they hit the market. But I got some! And I’m happy.

Hit or Miss, This Order a Hit!!!

I just about died with happiness when I found out these we’re coming back out. I have the find memories of eating these as a little girl at my Grandparents place at the lake during the summer. The can was huge and I would stick half my little arm down the can to get the cheez balls at the bottom. I’m obviously an adult now and the can is quite a bit smaller, but the cheez balls are soooo good! I put in a preorder for them off of Amazon in July and was so sad when my ordered was never shipped. I found a couple cans at a local grocery store, but that was all they could get. Finally at the end of the year, big box store online had them in stock for $1.69 a can. I put in a few orders and every single one was different. One order tasted awful- like packing peanuts dusted with kraft Mac and cheese powder, while the next order was perfect. I finally saw Amazon had 12 packs of these in stock and ordered one. It came today and I waited impatiently for the UPS guy to come. When they arrived, I tore one open and am happy to say that this order is awesome! I have no idea why some cans have been good and others totally awful, but I’m glad this order was a success. It is the dead of winter here in the Midwest and we are stuck inside. At least I will have 12 cans of cheez balls to keep me company until the weather clears.

Pure Crack

I'm not sure why Planters stopped making these delicious balls of ecstasy, but I've had to listen to my husband complain about it every time we've gone to the grocery store for the past 10 years. The other brands cheese balls just don't measure up, and there is a very noticeable difference between Planters balls of ecstasy and every other brand of balls.

My order placed on June 30 from Amazon finally shipped, arriving today! While I waited, I was able to find these at local grocery stores. In my opinion, these are the same amazing cheez balls I knew from when I was a kid and I'm trilled to have the chance to enjoy them again. I see some of the other reviews say they aren't the same. Whether they are or not, maybe I'm not remembering or others are not remembering, at the end of the day they are delicious and it's incredibly difficult to not eat a whole can in one sitting. Short version: buy with confidence and be patient if you have a pending order - it's worth the wait!

Better than all other cheese balls

Been a long time so I don't remember exactly how they tasted the last time I had them but I will say they're the best cheese balls I've had in at least a decade. Other brands are ok, but never satisfied completely. These bring back so many memories & hit the spot! Easily the best!

If these people with the rotten taste buds don’t want these? Send them to me! Freakin awesome! Salty. Light. Extra cheesy! Can is thinner and a lot shorter but what the hell, at least I can buy some! Update: my son and I ate 3 cans the first night! These are awesome!!!👍👍👍👍👍
