Fun Activity to do with Kids
I bought a ton of these for Christmas this year. They were a blast to do with my nieces. I'm a dog groomer and I recommend taking the advice of other reviewers. Here is how I did them: Wash with baby shampoo or dish soap Rinse and put in the washer on spin cycle Use a slicker brush (the ones with metal bristles) to brush them out - no drying necessary after the spin cycle Most importantly, have fun with it. The girls really got into it. (We did 5 of these)

Putting in the time is worth it!
The secret to good looking pets is (like another helpful reviewer said) to wash them with shampoo, rinse well, then use conditioner and really brush it through. Rinse well a final time! If you don't really take the time to rub them with the shampoo and conditioner like you would a real pet, they turn out kind of.... well, scruffy. Just take the time to enjoy it and get it really clean! Brushing it while blow drying it is another key to the good looking fur. The product description even says so. I feel like the people who left bad reviews just rushed through the process, which will not yield good results. Enjoy your new scruff a luv as much as my daughter loves hers!

Fun for a little bit
Exactly what it looks like. It takes a lot to make this thing look like the picture. My son took his in the bath for a log time time. Even used bubble bath on it. We blow dried it and then the real work starts. Brushing takes a while and it looses a lot of hair. Kind of messy. All in all it’s fun and surprising.

Fantastic!
This is absolutely adorable! You get a little scruff ball, collar, brush, bow, and adoption certificate. The key to it coming out great is a long bath with soap and rinsing very well in clean water. I blow dried mine with the hair dryer on medium heat and gave her a good brushing after drying. It’s like bathing drying and brushing a real pet! I highly recommend and am already planning a future purchase of a pink one. Be sure your child takes the time to enjoy the whole process and the results should be great!

Excited niece says this gift was the best
We purchased this for our niece, 4 years old, and she was a little sad at first. She really wanted a stuffed rabbit- not a crazy looking ball. But when she realized that you have to use the ball in the water to make it something else she was on board. We were all happy when it turned out to be a rabbit. It is now her new favorite toy, and the experience of getting to turn a ball into the rabbit she wanted was a lasting memory.

Love this toy
Really enjoyed this toy. The ears were showing, so after opening the box it was not a surprise that it was going to be a cat, but this little guy has so much personality in his fluff. Used a conditioning shampoo when washing. Does not quite have the cotton candy look as in the display photos, but the fur is so fun to play with. The body is floppy and easily posed. You can even trim the fur if you prefer it less “Einstein-y”. I can see where this toy would be more suitable for an older child or at least with lots of help from an adult. I’m excited to see what else this company might come out with. Photos from when it was still slightly damp, and after dried and groomed. *Update, after another purchase, I realized you are able to achieve the cotton candy fur look by use of a different brush. I was able to make it look at least similar to the product photos. So, the fur is capable of this look, just not by use of the brush provided. I used my actual cat’s wire brush.

Cute pain in the butt!
What animal is it?! Well you will find out! We were surprised with the little cutie and my daughter just loved the sparkly ears. Let me tell you, this thing seems to take forever to dry. As real dogs shake after a bath to get off excess water, so should you (violently) shake this little one. After we squeezed out all the water (which kind of upset my daughter as you don’t treat real animals this way) I blow dried for a good 5 minutes on high, and it was still wet. I was able to then squeeze out more water (are we done yettt?!???) -_- After watching a couple YouTube videos on this product, I shook it out and then blow dried for another 5 minutes. Once fully dry I gave back to my daughter to brush out. The brush sucks. Period. A Wet Brush style brush did the trick. Super cute concept. Pain in the tuchus. I’m begging my daughter to never wash it again
Pretty Swag
Fun toy, if you ignore some flaws.
I'm giving this five stars because my daughter has had so much fun with it and loves her new little puppy. That being said, I feel like this toy is way overpriced for what it is. It's an awesome concept and we all had fun bathing it, revealing which animal my daughter got, combing the animal's hair, and putting on the accessories. But after it's washed, dried, and groomed, it somewhat resembles a Dollar Tree stuffed animal. Because this toy comes as a matted ball of fur that has been balled up for who knows how long, in the end, it is disfigured and misshapen. Limbs are helplessly twisted, the head is lopsided, the face is squished flat, and stuffing inside is all bunched. And there's not a lot you can do to fix it. In addition to all of this, my daughter's puppy has a head that is way too big for its body. It's supposed to sit up, but that's nearly impossible with how top heavy it is.

Don’t read bad reviews!
If you have most of your brain, your Scruff-a-Luv can turn out adorable and you can have a great time with your kids! Try watching the product video that Amazon has posted. Then try following the directions. Do NOT put this in the washer and then dry it on high heat and expect to have a beautiful stuffed animal magically appear. Do NOT hand this to a 2 year old while you play on your phone and then complain when it doesn’t come out looking like a million bucks. We got the exact same product, and ours is perfect! We gently soaked and swirled it in a tub of warm water with baby shampoo. Don’t wring the crap out of it. Be gentle. Give it a good five minutes in the sudsy water. Add a little conditioner toward the end of this. Then gently re-roll it back in a ball shape while squeezing gently to get some water out. Dump your dirty water and get some clean warm water, and rinse the animal. Gently roll and squeeze again. Place it on a thick towel and gently roll from the feet up in the towel like the ball it came in again, squeezing some more water out. Get your hair dryer on low heat, and brush while you dry. Let your child use the brush that came with it, while you use a hairbrush or a wire dog brush. Give her a little shake once in a while, like a dog would do after a bath. Water will come out. Keep drying, and brushing, going in the direction the hair comes out of the toy, which varies all over the animal. Make sure you find where the ears connect, and the legs and arms, and brush from the feet toward the body too. Brush and dry the white belly extra as it takes longer to dry. When you’re done, you will have a darling lovey your child will adore! I’ve attached some pictures from our experience.

Brush while you dry for best fluff
Not sure why people are complaining about this adorable product! I got this for my 5 year old daughter, we washed it with clarifying shampoo, we used quite a bit of shampoo on this bad boy and rinsed it well then washed it again to make sure none of the crunchy stuff was left, once it was all clean and well rinsed in the tub we blowdryed it on high, while we dried it we also brushed it at the same time using the brush provided. It did not turn out scruffy at all! “Bubblegum the bunny” turned out so cute and soft and fluffy! It took a little extra time but well worth it for it to turn out right. I definitely recommend washing it with shampoo twice, rinsing super well, ringing it out, and then brushing WHILE blow drying, not after.
