Received my machine about 1week ago. Love it . Very easy to use right out of the box. Was making Xmas gifts in no time. I love how easy it is to thread. Grand slam package is great . I didn't have to go and buy anything.

I love my Brother PE770 embroidery machine and have been very pleased with its performance. The machine is user friendly and gives professional results. Before using the machine I sat down and read the instruction manual from cover to cover to prevent user error problems. I use my machine for monograms, mostly, and they have stitched out just beautifully. (I make sure to purchase designs from reputable sources and use recommended threads.) I bought the Grand Slam package and feel it was a decent enough deal if you add everything up. I especially like the PolyStar thread and the nice box it came in, although I'm not sure I'll use the sock or the cap hoops very often... Just a couple of tips for new users: 1) Read the manual from cover to cover and understand it well before using the machine; 2) Yes, you can use the white pre-wound bobbins with any color embroidery thread - it does not show on top (the right side) if the tension is properly adjusted (and you will likely need to adjust it as it is set to -0- by default by the manufacturer out of the box); 3) If you plan to do monogramming, you'll want to purchase some editing software; 5) Join a internet forum/group to learn about machine embroidery; 6) Educate yourself about stabilizers and which ones to use with different fabrics. Oh, and did I mention? Read the manual! : )

I just love my new Designio DZ820E. It was very easy to figure out how to operate for a beginner comes with almost everything you need to operate right out of the box. The only thing I needed to go buy was some spay adhesive so I would recommend this machine to anyone looking for a fun hobby.

I did a lot of research and soul-searching (!) before I decided to buy this package. My main conflict was: the 4 by 4 inch embroidery field. I really would like something larger, but I just couldn't justify the expense (there is a big jump in price among the brands, with Brother being the least expensive by far) when I am basically doing this for fun/hobby. Some history: I started to learn machine embroidery because the school where I work has a Viking embroidery machine that nobody knew how to use. So I offered to learn how to use it. The Joann store near my school started a free embroidery Viking club, that I have attended. Well, I kind of caught the bug, so to speak, but I just could never ever afford a brand like Viking or Pfaff. Hence the months of research and agonizing and coveting machines. But this package go such good reviews, so I made my decision. And I am very happy. I did contact customer service at the Mr.Vac/Mrs. Sew and they were really great, which is a plus. I didn't feel the most comfortable about buying a machine via the Internet (it's nice to have a real store in case of a problem), but it seems like if I have any reasonable problems that aren't operator (me!) induced, they would be very good about helping me. I've had my machine about 2 weeks and have been playing with it and learning how it works. So far I've had only 2 small problems, and both were my fault. I didn't thread it properly one time (and the machine gave me a message on screen that I needed to fix the upper thread!) and then it took me a while to figure out how to download/upload some free patterns I got from the Brother web-site. But once I figured it out (I was making it more difficult that it needed to be, but that's because I'm not comfortable with computers) gosh it was so easy! I've just been doing practice samples on fabric swatches and so far so good. I love the thread-cutting function, which the more expensive Viking machine my school owns doesn't have! The touch screen is small, but very user friendly once you know the icons and what function they serve. It's hard to see the pattern on-screen when it's being sewn out, but again, given the price point of the machine, I am not going to complain. I figure if I--a kind of technophobe--can figure out how to rotate, enlarge, decrease, mirror etc. without too much pain, anyone can. And this is really much more intuitive than the Viking I was learning first with. Now to the Grand Slam package. Wow. You have everything you need to get started, and given the quantity, this will last a good long while. The thread spools are huge and are working well in my machine. The only caveat there is that sometimes when threading, the thread unspools and twists around the spool pin. Keep an eye on that and you'll be fine. You can always use an enclosed spool net if needed. Tons of bobbins are included; a huge roll of what I think is a medium weight tear away stabilizer which should be OK for many types of fabrics (and you can always double up for more stability). A nifty little embroidery scissors. A CDrom set of zillions of patterns. I haven't used that yet, merely browsed, and while there are many cutesy patterns I know I'll never use, there are some elegant fonts and autumn leaves for example. And I've just browsed one CD so far. I did buy as an add-on, the three hoop package for $30 which was actually a great deal considering how expensive hoops are. I got the repositionable hoop, which is good if you want to add lettering above or below a design and don't want to rehoop; another 4 by 4 (which is nice to have as an extra so you really can jump from one project to another) and a small oval if I want to do any monograms or small designs. This makes sense when you do want to save on stabilizer. All in all, I think I made a sound investment. If you price out things like threads, stabilizers, bobbins and so forth, this really is a very good price for what you get. And honestly: with all the thread and bobbins and stabilizer, all I really need is maybe one or two more stabilizer types to use on other fabric types, and I really don't need anything else. I know that some day I'd like a larger machine embroidery field, and will probably go with the PE770 (embroidery only) because if it's as easy to use as this,I will be quite happy. I haven't even talked about the sewing aspect of the machine! It's easy to forget this is also a sewing machine. I played around with that a bit, too, just doing plain stitching (a nice, straight seam, and the reinforcement stitching/thread cutting is so nice) as well as some of the fancier stitches, just to see how the machine worked and what they looked like. The instruction manual has some pretty good information on using the various presser feet, for example. If you don't have a lot of money to spend, I really recommend this machine/package. I could really live without the Project Runway tie-in, but oh well. Actually: the little carrying case and rolling cart is quite sturdy. It took a while to figure out how to place all the inserts with velcro tabs inside the cart, but once I figured it out, there is a nice space for the machine, the embroidery arm, and any little extras. It seems very durable and well-made. I figure a caddy like that would cost at least $50 on sale, so this is nice to have, too. Maybe I'll go play with my machine some more now!

I have had this machine since September 2012. I've been sewing for 50 years, many of those professionally, and have used many brands of sewing machines over the years. However, this is my first embroidery machine. Since I purchased it I've learned many things, too many to list in this review, but I feel compelled to address the few negative reviews. First and foremost , Mr. Vac and Mrs. Sew is a wonderful company to deal with. When I received my package, every thing was correct except I mistakenly received 2 - 5x7 hoops, 2 - 4x4 hoops and 1 - 5x12 hoop in addition to the sock and cap hoop. I immediately called to let them know and they said KEEP THEM!! During the first couple of months of use I called them numerous times when I had questions and their customer service was always top notch! Next, you MUST read the manual front to back before you really start to use the machine. I assumed because I had sewn for so long it would be the same....it is not! That being said, you will find things along the way that you won't find in the manual. The best thing you can do is utilize YouTube, there are tons of excellent videos on there that will address even the smallest issue you might encounter. Also there are many good groups and forums that you should join right away. There are 2 groups on Facebook (PE770 Machine Embroidery and Brother PE Embroidery) that will be a great help, there are many experienced people on there they have a wealth of knowledge. What I see from reading the negative reviews is that there seems to be a lot of mis-information, people are not trying to find answers for themselves (beyond the manual) and this is doing a great disservice to an excellent starter embroidery machine. I have found through watching dozens of videos and reading hundreds of posts that the issues people experience are more than likely not the actual machine itself, but not trying to find the right answer to their problem. I never knew, prior to purchasing the machine, that there are so many types of stabilizers, and each fabric must have the right kind. I assumed that because a roll was included that it would be used on everything. The thread that comes with this package is great, and I couldn't understand why a few of the colors kept shredding and giving me bird nests under the fabric. After some research I discovered that the dye in certain colors can affect how it sews. I now use a different kind of thread, but still go back to these often. I never knew that you shouldn't pull the thread from the top when changing thread, but cut it and pull from the bottom. Pulling from the top can do damage to the delicate pieces inside. I also learned from my "authorized Brother serviceman" that you should not attempt to adjust tension or oil it. These machines are so different than a regular sewing machine. There are so many thing I've learned and way to many to list, all I can say is this is an excellent machine but you MUST do the research as you go along. I've put 4 millions stitches on this machine since I purchased it, which to some is a lot and to others is hardly any! Some of those 4 million stitches have given me nightmares, most time because I wasn't doing something the right way. As with anything, I'm sure there are lemons out there, it is inevitable, but in my humble opinion, this is an excellent machine, Mr. Vac and Mrs. Sew is a wonderful company to deal with and the package is great!! By the way, I'm still using the original box of prewound bobbins.

PRAISE GOD for a sewing machine that goes beyond my expectations! So easy to use right out of the box. My old machine was 25 years old and I really wanted one that sewed, embroidered, and quilted. And I bought the grand slam pkg.and am more than pleased. So anyone looking to update with not a lot of money to spend this is the best pkg deal for you.And the online support is quick and to the point. I believe it would be a great gift for a first time young seamstress or college student also. I just can't say enough about how pleased I am with my purchase. Thank you Greatly , Mrs Vickie Pierce

25 years ago I started a quilt for my little granddaughter. The old machine I had just wouldn't finish the job so I put it away and forgot about it. Granddaughter found the quilt under a bed and asked about it and I told her she could take it and finish it if she wanted to. Then I found this deal on Amazon. I am so amazed at the way this machine works and at all the extras that came with it. There truly is over $1,100 worth of extras! Everything I needed to get started and I have already made a lap quilt for the auction at our family reunion. This is the most fun I've had in years. I will finish the first quilt I started so long ago before my granddaughter has her first baby! I had forgotten everything I knew about sewing but this machine leads you along and just kind of teaches you what to do as you go. I couldn't be happier!

Haven't had it long but I have embroidered everything that I have been sewing. I love the results. I'm fixing to expand this with the brother software to see what this machine can do. I'm in love with this! Great quality of work, and wonderful machine all in together.

I have had this machine for only a few days. I have never owned an embroidery machine and had no clue as to how to make it run and what to do. I watched Youtube videos and tutorials to learn how to use this machine. Today I embroidered 3 different designs. The designs are amazing. I love this Brother PE770. It has delivered all it had promised to. I am using it to embroider scripture designs on blocks and sew those blocks together to make quilts to give to the sick people I know. I am very happy with my purchase. You must read the manual, educate yourself on how the machine works.

I don't normally write reviews, but I wanted to take a minute to say I am really happy with my new Brother machine as well as the Grand Slam Package. The seller Mr. Vac & Mrs. Sew did deliver in two days and the packaging was very sturdy. I was very surprised to see two big boxes delivered. Once I had determined which was machine and which was goodies, I was more excited to open the additional box that came with my new Brother. I had expected the thread to be sample sized about 2 inches long and ½ inch in diameter. I was very surprised to see full size spools in 61 colors. Also were 144 bobbins all pre-wound and ready for me to start. Included was a full size of Tear away stabilizer, again I was expecting sample sizes. The Brother has been very user friendly; I have to admit I was a little scared to use it. It is my first embroidery machine. I read through the instructions briefly and I was off. (mostly to find out how to secure the material and stabilizer in the hoop). I feel like the guy from Ronco - you just set it and forget it. The only time you have to pay attention is when it is time to change the tread. I also like the options set up. I can have the machine programmed to back up / lock the thread at the end of a stitch and cut the thread for me when I finish. I am using this machine for quilting and I like not having to get out my scissors when I am piecing strips or squares. I have used it for quilting finish on one project so far and it walked great on the two layers of material and low loft batting. I it also embroideries through those layers just as easy. My first project was a baby blanket and I was able to put the babies name on after I completed the project. Nice big electric blue letters for a little boy. (thread was compliments of the "Grand Slam Package").
