Works Great - but be careful where it comes from
I’ve had this installed for a few weeks now. Today it’s raining and the sensor has done its job quite well. Setup is very easy. I did have to modify the outdoor sensor bracket to fit beneath my gutters leaf guard, but a simple hacksaw was all I needed. I had to order this twice. First time it arrived, I did not receive the indoor unit. All I got was the outdoor sensor and mounting bracket. There are other reviews that mention this as well. Very deceptive marketing to not sell a complete kit. It’s useless unless you’re looking to replace certain parts. Second order was from VMInnovations, whom I spoke with before ordering. They too couldn’t understand why I didn’t get the whole kit the first time. Make sure you get the sensor AND indoor receiver!!

Easy Installation, great features and a reliable brand
I just received and set up the WR2, attached to my Rachio Sprinkler Controller. Installation was quite easy, especially with YouTube videos that proved helpful. Rachio provided a pictorial guide to wiring the WR2 to it, which was very straightforward and worked fine for me. The manual called for me to pair the units, but it seemed that they were pre-paired, so I skipped that step. I mounted the transmitter to an eave point that will not push too much water in its direction, and is relatively close to the receiver. It shows 3 bars at that point, so I'm pretty comfortable with that. I left the water level at the default 1/4" for starters. I'll monitor it against my rain gauge to see it calibrates against it, and perhaps tweak the setting later. I had considered the Hunter unit, but the feature set on the Rain Bird is just much better, I think, especially the fact that the battery is user replaceable, the receiver signal strength indication on the remote transmitter, for easy installation point selection, and the helpful displays on the receiver. I didn't opt for the Freeze Detection unit, since I expect to shut down my system late every Fall, before we get to the time when freezing is a risk. It's all brand new, so time will tell how it performs over time, but I have a pretty high confidence in the Rain Bird brand. The vendor, Sprinkler Supplier of Idaho, Inc,, did a good job of packaging and shipping it promptly, and they used Priority Mail 2-day service, so it arrived about as fast as it would have using Amazon Prime service.

A must have!!
I cants say enough about this awesome rain sensor. Install takes 5 minutes and all you need is a screwdriver. Wireless setup to 10 seconds. My water company even refunded me $50 on my bill for buying this. It was a huge win for me! It fills with rain water and shuts off my sprinklers for the next cycle and stays off until the water has dropped. I was watering WAY to much because I was afraid to turn the system off on rainy days and forget it off. Now it's on every day and the sensor decides to water or not based off rainfall. It's adjustable but the default setting works great for me.

Save our natural resources in by this.
I had bought one of these before a few years ago. The sensor that you place outside finally wore out due to the little desk inside the plunger. I was able to find some on eBay for about 10 bucks. They didn’t work very well, so I just went ahead and toss them. This purchase includes both the sensor and the brains of the system. Easy to install And it saves water for all. If everybody used one of these we would have more natural resources available in the future. There’s no reason why somebody is water in their yard while it’s pouring down rain. But you see this every day in the big cities even out in the country. I would buy this again as it is a great purchase and includes exactly what’s in the picture.

Sensor works well. I installed on a Hunter Pro-C controller
I have had this sensor installed for the past month and it works fine. I don't have the temp feature with mine. The install took only a few minutes. I installed the LCD to the right of my timer so I could flip up the cover to read the screen. The wireless WR2 sensor is mounted on a wooden fence about 15' away. The signal goes through a garage wall that is made with 2x6's and has sheet rock and plaster on the inside. The signal strength on the LCD shows 3 out of 4. The battery strength is also read on the LCD and is still 4 out of 4 after 30 days use. The LCD also shows when the system is shut off. There will be a pic of a rain cloud and an X through the sprinkler on the LCD. When the Rainbird sensor shuts off the controller the controller should also say OFF if you have the sensor switch on the controller in the active or ON position. One word of advice is.... If installing with a Hunter Pro-C controller, and possibly other Hunter controllers, make sure you remove the jumper plate that connects the 2 sensor inputs on the controller. You have to take both sensor screws out and the plate pops off. Then just connect the white and green sensor wires from the Rainbird. I would recommend this product to a friend. Follow up: I have had this sensor now for a full season and it has paid for itself with the savings in water. It still works as well as when I first installed the unit 02/15 Follow up: Still works fine. I do change the battery in the sensor every year.

Good sensor for Rachio sprinkler
I bought this to use with Rachio WIFI sprinkler system. It is an added sensor for the Rachio to use as it decides whether to water or not! It was also easy to attach the rain/ freeze sensor on the gutter. I hope it does remain on the gutter as it is not screwed in anywhere. It is latched on by the clip to the gutter ridge. Very easy to program and configure. I also had to pair with the sensor as it did not come paired but that was also a piece of cake. I like that it has a battery indicator on the controller and a signal strength meter (two important things)! I would recommend this.

Simple. Works Great.
So first off I purchased this sensor after two DOA Hunter brand similar units. I prefer the way the hunter unit controls the system vs the Rainbird. I have a Rachio Gen-1 controller. This unit was super simple to setup. I tested functionality-- works great. As for accuracy --- well, one has to consider how these devices work. If you've ever gotten a flat wafer of a sponge, added a little water and watched it swell up -- then you've seen what lake a rain sensor work. A loose stack of little felt disks are mounted to a rod. As rainwater enters the unit, the felt is wetted proportional to the flow of water. That by itself should give you pause as to maximum accuracy and repeatability potential-- not so good. IFF you're needing a scientific instrument. But for a normal user the accuracy is plenty good.

Truly does what it says
Works great with my sprinkler controller--eventhough it is connected to "local" weather. We had a thunderstorm the night before last, and it passed the test---it' a keeper and a water and sanity saver!!!! NOTE: when connecting it to a Rachio 3, make sure to connect the white wire with the black wire. If you think the white wire is not used, you are grestly mistaken!! Not connecting it together will make the Rachio think that a rain skip has been engaged.

Nice addition to our WIFI enabled Sprinkler Controller
Works flawlessly with our Rachio remote controlled sprinkler controller. We can access the Rachio from anywhere we have a wifi connection and in the meantime the Rain Bird feeds info to the Rachio so it can make automatic weather related adjustments to sprinkler times. Great, particularly if you are away on vacation. Highly recommend.

Rain Bird WR@-RFC Wireless Rain Sensor
Absolutely a great product. I hooked it to my Rain Bird SST600 timer, needed the UT1 transformer, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do. I live in FL and we've had rain almost every day for 2 months so I got one. My irrigation uses well ater which is free but if you're paying for the water you use for irrigation this sensor will save you a lot of money. Easy to install and program.
