So far a life saver

My wife and I installed this particular version of the black out film in our bedroom to allow us to sleep past 5 AM (or it atl least feels that early) in the summer as the light tends to creep into our room facing east pretty early. Install was pretty simple working together which helped having someone hold the cut pieces out so they didn't fold in on each other. The block about 99.9% of the light making our room difficult to navigate with the lights off, just the way we like it. We bought this specific role (white on one side, black on the other, to avoid the look of black windows showing street side. You can even tell they're on there from the outside. As far as the inside, we kept our blinds which pretty much cover the black side barely showing any color through. So far we love these and hope they will hold up to Texas heat in the summer.

Outstanding Product and Customer Support

I was compelled to write a review for this product after reaching out to Window Whirl’s customer support team. I had some questions about my order and they were so helpful and friendly. Background: I work odd hours and needed something to help me get to sleep during the day that also didn’t get super hot. I tried some of the other window films and wasn’t satisfied but decided to give Window Whirl a try after seeing this white-sided film and reading a couple reviews. The other films I had tried in the past were either very thin and not completely blackout or got very hot to the touch and released an odor (or both). I won’t get into the trouble I had with their customer service when trying to get a refund. Quality: I now have the “whiteblack” film on my windows and can say this film has none of those problems. It is thick and completely blackout and - while it still gets warm to the touch - it doesn’t get as hot as other brands and there is no smell. They also appear to have a pending patent on this particular whiteblack film and now I can see why. Installation: Easy Peasy. No razor needed. I just used scissors and cut it to the size of my windows. After that, all I did was spray the solution and squeegee a little bit and *just like that* my room is completely dark. If Window Whirl reads this, thank you!

A must for the midnight shift.

Most important is the white reverse side, to protect your windows from overheating, turning your room into a sweat box. thick film, durable. Cut the edges longer by 1/4 inch. the thick film does not stretch.

Great Product and Comapny

This product was exactly what we needed and was exactly as described. My only problem was separating the film from the paper backing. This was overcome by using scotch tape to separate the two sides. I reported this to the company and they responded very positively. The material is really great and heavy duty. I may use it on some other windows for complete privacy. My wife wanted a white color to match the walls and this had both black and white. Highly recommended.

Great film!

These are wonderful. Our city recently replaced the old street lights with LED ones which changed the range of them. It’s great for crime prevention, not so great for sleeping next to a window. I did have some trouble getting the edges neat. It may be because I was putting it on antique windows and didn’t have perfectly straight edges to work with. So, I do have bits of light where my cuts weren’t perfect. However, the film blocks wherever it is, so you don’t even notice the mistakes at night. I would caution anyone who is installing them to really clean the windows well before installing it, or it will peel off. If that happens, you can clean the film and the window and put it back on. I don’t know if it’s an option, because I didn’t look around before purchasing this product, but I would have preferred white on both sides. I have white on the window side and black inside the room. From the street, it just looks like closed curtains. Im not thrilled with the black inside, but it is exactly as described and it blocks light wonderfully.

LOVE THIS, works great!

I bought this for my sons’ east facing bedroom window. I wanted something to block the light of the early morning and reduce the heat that is trapped in their room. It’s already working and is great. It is sturdy. I had a razor blade I used to trip the edges with and it was difficult to penetrate through and create an even finished cut line. I personally don’t care because the kids always have the blinds closed so you can’t see that line. If you are going to have it somewhere where others will see make sure your trimming blade is SHARP! Otherwise the install was quick and easy!

This product did not work for me

So why the 5 stars? Because the issue was my fault, and not the products. -The film arrived well packaged, and instructions were clearly printed on the back. I've installed hundreds of vinyl pieces on cars and windows before, but this time I unfortunately did not have my proper sizing/cutting tool. I went to install it, and ended up cutting the film a little short.. It really is forgiving film and has a nice stretch to it, so I wanted to see if I can stretch it out to cover for my cut mistake. Unfortunately, I stretched it a bit too much and ripped too much of the film off to where it doesn't fit my windows now.. All you really need is a yard stick and a razor to not make the mistake I did.. I will most likely purchase another set and try my luck again with better tools.

Does the job

This is def a quality product and probably the best thing I’ve found for room darkening. I did have some difficulty getting it to stick and lay right.

Very good product Almost 100% dark

These were really easy to install, just cut it a little bigger put it on let it dry and cut the outside. They're not hundred percent but they darken the room enough that if you put a shade over them it's Pitch Black in the daytime perfect for day sleepers vampires zombies whoever can't take the light.. I recommend this one because it doesn't get hot with the white background facing the Sun.. and the black part has a really cool look on the inside.. since I've had it I don't wake up at 6 a.m... it was this or get my eyelids thickened at plastic surgeon..I opted for this for now..
