Works with Surface Pro 3

Many external dvd drives don't work on Surface models, I suspect because of the low voltage output on the USB, this one does and it has an extra power cord to the drive to boost the power. I can now load programs to the Surface Pro 3

This Burner works great.

Had tried several of our in-house external drives with our SURFACE Pro 3. These didn't work and had all kinds of error messages. I spent a couple of hours trying to make them work. ROOFULL drive unboxed plug in the cables and work first time with no issues.

Works As Advertised - Capable of Playing and Displaying Words of Karaoke CD+G Karaoke CDs

I needed a portable DVD/CD player/recorder that was capable of playing and displaying the graphics (words) of karaoke CD+G CDs. See attached screenshot. Pleased with unit so far; plays on my laptop with just the included USB cable.

Works Great

The drive works great! I plugged it in to my tablet and it was immediately recognized. I did have to load VLC Media Player by VideoLAN as Windows 10 has no native DVD player for movies.

Does exactly what I need it to.

Got this for my Surface Pro 6 and works great. It can be used without the included power supply if the disc is spinning at lower speeds like real time playback on a music CD. However, the Surface Pro 6 does not provide enough amps to run the disc drive when installing software from a CD. This is where the external power option is needed, otherwise the disc drive will constantly disconnect and reconnect to the Surface Pro.

Quickly Solves Windows 10 Hassle for Playing Movies

Windows 10 doesn't support DVD playing so you just can't pop a movie in and play it. Big hassle if you have a home film library [although that might be a little quaint in the Age of Amazon and Netflix]....and quickly and inexpensively solved with the Roofull Portage USB 3 external DVD drive. Really a plug and play device, high quality construction, instruction English a little fractured, but the hardware is perfect, and an attractive match for my Lenovo mini tower. [Remember USB 3 ports are the ones with the SS [usb sign]....and that USB is backwards compatible, so USB 2 should work if you don;'t have USB 3 available, although 3 is certainly recommended.

Attractive and Functional Optical Drive

Well built device in a nice aluminum case. While it has a convenient eject button on the front panel, the tray will open on command from your computer's built in optical drive software. Speaking of software, no additional software is required to operate this device. It is truly a plug and play operation. My Windows 10 computer immediately recognized the drive as soon as I plugged in the supplied USB cable. I was able to play a music CD and display a photo CD without any problems. You will need to download CD burner software if you plan to make your own CD's. There are plenty of free programs available that can be obtained online. Overall, I am very pleased with this quiet, compact little device

It WORKS!

In going through old files I came across my stash of old document cds. As I no longer have a dvd/cd drive in my laptop I decided to buy an external one to see if I could open these. The price for this was right, the reviews were good, and so I bought it! It worked immediately, opened some Microsoft ME files - wow - and I found some things I had forgotten I had which I have now saved on this computer. THANKS!!

Plug it in...it works.

Using on a Windows 10 laptop that the internal DVD/RW died. This works perfectly as an external replacement. I've used it daily for a week now and have had no issues whatsoever. The USB 3.0 is about comparable with the original internal drive (at least for ripping CDs). Happy with the purchase.

Durable and easy to use.

I loved that this product was simple to use. No assembly required. Just attached the usb port to my laptop and played my dvds. Simple as that. The casing is sturdy and protects the drive. I priced around and this was the best one that match my laptop model.
