I love this compost bin, it is my first one and I am so happy I choose this one. The charcoal discs work like a charm! Ours sits low to the ground and the dogs haven't messed with the bin or even found it! It is so light and holds all of my scraps perfectly. I do wish they had different sizes though but that's just preference for my household size and compost size needs. Once I build my larger compost bin this will be the perfect transport from my house to the back yard with no trouble. It is easy to clean out and the charcoal disks just get pushed into the lid.

Despite the name, it is not a bucket for creating compost. It is a bucket for collecting kitchen scraps for taking out to your composter/compost heap. I got this to replace a ceramic one I've had for years, and recently broke the lid (ceramic meets granite, ceramic loses). I wanted stainless steel so that the same thing doesn't happen in the future. The retro aluminum garbage can look of this one appealed to me. The first thing I noticed is that it is about half-again as big as the one I had, but still fits neatly in the corner of the counter. The second thing is how lightweight it is -- and I mean that in a good way. The ceramic one was heavy when it was empty. This one is a good quality of stainless steel, but quite light and easy to carry even when full. The third thing is how easy it is to empty. Unlike the ceramic one, the lid of this one fits inside the container; it doesn't rest on a lip. So, the sides are completely straight from bottom to top. Just tip it upside down, and it empties. No need to scrape out from under the lip. It rinses clean, with no staining. I wish now I hadn't ordered the compostable bags for it, although they are always handy. I also suspect that this will be better at keeping out fruit flies, as the fit is quite snug. The lid hanging from the side while you're putting scraps in it is a bonus.

This is our third bucket over 10-12 years. This bucket works perfectly. No smell with filter in lid. Be good about washing over time to make it last nicely. Upgood sells 7 1/4" filters (large) on Amazon. Don't buy smaller ones! Just pinch filter to remove and then replace.

I only recently started composting when I moved into my first house, and this is a great container for that. It's big enough to hold a few meals worth of scraps, and the lid fits snugly so there are no gaps. Between that and the filter, there's no smell off it whatsoever. It's sturdy feeling, and very easy to clean. I line mine with a compostable bag for easy emptying, so I can't speak for having to carry it out and dump it into the compost bin, but for my purposes, I love it, and it looks sleek and elegant in my kitchen.

I was using plastic yogurt containers for my kitchen waste, but as my vegetable garden grew. so too my compost. I love this container for its beauty next to my stainless steel kitchen sink and faucet, as well as the lack of odor from the filter beneath the lid. The nicest benefit, is the simplicity of carrying this very light weight bucket by its handle out to my garden compost pile and the easy removal of its secure lid. I highly recommend this bin.

For years used a plastic bag hung on a drawer knob. Fruit flys smells and just a ghetto look all in the name of composting. Now with this handsome addition the bugs, smell and occasional leaking bag are gone and a snazzy stainless canister with easy to remove lid sits by my sink waiting to receive the contribution from my morning smoothie and evening veggie trimmings. Best kitchen upgrade this month.

This is a perfect size and beautiful design!! Also I like lid that can hang on the side of the container.

Used for collecting table scraps for our chickens. Looks good sitting on counter, top fits snuggly, washes up easily & handle adequate for purpose. Great product..

This is a good compost pail, sits on countertop and doesn't take a lot of space. Husband says when he empties it is easier than our last one. Cover is easy to take off and on

I use this EVERY DAY. No smells! I juice a bunch of celery daily, as a minimum, and this tub gets filled every other day with loads of veggie and fruit scraps, if not daily. My man lifted the lid the other day and was thrown off by the stench within. It was obviously doing it's job. With the lid on we had no idea of the fermented activity going on inside. I've had this for at least 5 months now and haven't had to change the filter yet. Mine came with 2 extra filters. This keeps the fruit flies and fungus gnats out. I wrap my compost stuff in old newspaper before placing the wrapped bundle on the compost. I hope to deter fungus gnats and fruit flies from gathering on my compost. Grateful for this little bin and its carbon filter at a decent price!
