My wife thought that getting a marble set would be good for our youngest's birthday and put a random one in. Before buying, I compared the various options out there and discovered that this particular one seems to be the best choice based on a number of criteria. The first thing to note is that the marbles are glass and colored. Nice, full sized marbles like you would be used to. I saw that several other sets only have plastic marbles and/or actually use miniature marbles (.43 inches or some such). The full sized ones are way better and they are less likely to be left on the floor since they are much easier to see. Well made glass ones roll a lot better. This set does have about double the pieces of many other sets, plus they are larger and easier to handle because the accommodate full sized marbles. The quality of the pieces themselves is excellent. I have not found any sharp edges or areas where moulding processes have created flaws, etc. The pieces do work nicely together, with enough friction to stay together well, but kids are able to pull them apart and keep remaking the tracks. The plastic is a good thickness and feels strong and stable. The instructions have 4 sets that are predefined which you can use as an exercise with your kid(s) for following instructions and introducing them to the set, before they start making their own stuff. They probably go overboard with the STEM talk, but you can hardly blame them for using the latest buzzwords and in fairness, this is a really good tool for helping kids learn how to build and how things work. My kids are already seeing what works and what doesn't and discovering things. All in all, I am kind of shocked that amazon's so called best seller is 5 bucks less but literally has half the pieces! This set is just really well made and is significantly more cost-effective than anything else. Definitely look for yourself but I am quite satisfied with this set and my boys played it all night as soon as it arrived. I just got it so I cannot attest to its longevity yet, but based on build quality, etc, I believe it will survive my household which is not gentle with their toys. A few notes to help you out: First, the horizontal bridge pieces only have 1 drop hole so that the marble crosses across. You need to make sure you make a note of where the hole is if stacking several of them so the marbles go back n forth instead of dropping straight down. :-) Secondly, several of the pieces are basically just for making supports. The things that look like yellow spinners and the acorn looking things are for stacking up to make support towers. This is for when you use the bridges up high and then chain them to another bridge. You'd build a support tower underneath the intermediate structure to hold it up.

This has been a great product from quality parts to quality fun. This is an item that has brought our entire household together to not only build what is in the book for each of the challenge levels but to even restructure and/or create entirely new set ups. Our kids love playing with Legos and for them to abandon them to have more time with this was a surprise for all of us. They enjoy not only building and creating with pieces but also to see it become animate with the marbles and moving parts. This product is a great value for the price as well as making everyone come together to be creative and analyze how it all will work "if we move this piece here and do this then that will happen". If you were considering purchasing this item or one like it go for it and get the 230 piece set. This made video games, tablets and TV time privileges go away - not because of it being enforced but by choice. Our household truly enjoys this product that has generated more bonding and creative time as a family.

I loved the hours of entertainment this gave my grandson (he’s 4). This is really good for developing those fine motor skills (and might work for medical issues like ADHD), but I wish my grandson was a little older as I had to do a lot of helping (I also had to keep a close eye on him since some of the pieces are small and can fit in his mouth) but that just gave us extra bonding time. My 16 year old did enjoy this too! I was so impressed I actually bought 2 of these and will give 1 for a gift.

Students LOVED this set! This was a great exercise in team work with elementary school students. It's good for demonstration purposes in science lessons. The only complaints from kids were, some of the colors in the instructions didn't match the actual colors of the pieces which made some parts confusing to construct and wanting more copies of instructions so teams can build independently.

I searched looking at all of the different sets and reviews before landing on this one. I wanted something large that they wouldn’t get tired of in one day, and was durable, and used regular sized marbles. This checks all of the boxes!! Buy this one with confidence.

My kids really enjoy playing with this toy. It was educational as they had to figure out the different pieces and how they have to attach, so the marbles would travel all the through the tubes. My older kids put this together, they are 5&8, while my 3 year old loves testing the toy. It was a great product that involves the whole family. The difficult level required a little adult guidance the first time.

I bought this product for my 5 year old. We bought him the marble run listed below for Christmas and he absolutely loved it. In fact, we enjoyed putting that marble run set together, once we figured out how to get one to work, that I decided to look for more. This set appeared to have more unique pieces, and seemed to have the same size pieces as the set we already had... and it did! so now we can build a monster marble run with multiple entry points and swirls. The best part about this product, is it had instructions. Easy, Medium, Hard, and Hardest. Last night we built Easy, Medium and Hardest. He absolutely loves this. I don't normally post reviews for products, but I felt that there might be more people out there looking to buy this marble run sets, and to me, out of the 3 i have purchased, this one is the best. 1st marble run purchased: MindWare Marble Run: 123 Piece Set (103 durable pieces and 20 marbles) EXCLUSIVELY AT was the name of it. I cannot find the actual link, as it has been replaced on amazon with an aqua toy.

My 10 year old son LOVES this!! He loves to build anything from train tracks, legos, kinex so this is something different that he now enjoyes doing. My 12 year old daughter also finds it a lot of fun!

Having many kiddos and being a preschool teacher for many years, I've seen my fair share of marble runs. This product doesn't disappoint. One of the features that I really love about this is that the bases are not just a single dish. Having a bridge - like structure makes the run more stable. What I don't like is all the STEM hype in the description. It is not that different than other products. The directions provided allow for more structured play, but I feel that one of the wonderful things that a marble run teaches is exploration and hands on learning. All in all... Well made, plenty of pieces for high play value.

I got this for my daughter's birthday. She was so excited to play with it. The set came with easy, medium, and hard set up instructions that show pictures so it's pretty easy to build the stuff or come up with your own. We had fun playing with all the pieces trying to come up with our own designs :)
