My Wife's First Shoot

So many reviews leave out one of the most important aspects of lighting equipment, what RESULTS can I expect? My wife recently decided she wanted to learn photography. She found a good, used pro-sumer camera and these are her first studio pics. Learning to shoot with constant light is much easier than learning to shoot with strobes. This kit provides 2 very nice medium (approx. 2x3 foot) softboxes with diffusion covers. The bulbs are HUGE and I highly recommend putting them in the foam shipping boxes when not in use. They produce a nice light that is 5473K. This is VERY close to perfect daylight balance. Daylight is 5500k so these are close enough. Assembling the softboxes was super easy. They open like an umbrella and quickly snap in place. There are no impossible rods to insert like with many other softboxes. The bulbs screw in as you would expect and the diffusion covers hook over the corners and have velcro to hold them on. The stands are very functional. They are light enough to make transport and setup easy yet sturdy enough to hold the lights. I would caution you to not tighten the lights too tightly on the stands as the brackets on the lights are plastic. A "snug fit" will hold them just fine. There is no need to overtighten. We were able to achieve f2.8 and 1/60th at ISO 100 and that is very good for portraits. I could see this set being very useful for shooting babies on location as it is lightweight and easy to set up and it provides ample light. If you push the ISO to 400 you can easily get f5.6 at 1/60 or even 1/500 at f2.8. The ultimate question is would I buy this again if I needed another set? Yes, absolutely!

Great compact starter kit for a great price!

The pros: -Very inexpensive kit of two soft boxes. -Compact, easy to transport. -Super simple to setup and repack. -Adds great detail to photos and videos and comes with very high CRI bulbs to make colors pop! The cons: -CFL vs LED (I stronger prefer the LED just because I don't like transporting glass bulbs). Overall, this is really great starter kit at a very good price. Literally, the only complaint I have is that it isn't offered with LED bulbs. The fact is that glass bulbs are much more prone to breaking during transport, but this kit is something I'll be using at home, so I'm not very worried about it at all. Other than that, the price, the ease of use, the light output and the versatility of this setup, makes it an absolute must have for anyone who is looking to shoot video, create video content or shoot any kind of photography. Please see my video review to get an idea of how quick, simple and easy this is to use and the type of results to expect from using these lights.

Amazing!!!

I can’t believe that these lights have nice true and even color. I was able to edit my photos without having to color correct them. They are very portable. Softboxes are easily folded. I wish the diffusers were a little thicker, and the light stands a little heavier. (But great build quality) Other than that. Amazing quality for the money.

Bright lights and light weight

I’ve been playing with photography and working on getting the podcast up and running, and wanted to do some more video stuff. I knew I would need some better lighting for this, and went to looking. This kit included everything I needed. It’s a full start up. Two tripods, two reflectors, two high intensity bulbs and two soft covers. A carrying case is even included which is nice since I hit locations a lot. I DO suggest you make sure you have some extension cords, cause at full extension these monsters are tall. The tripods are aluminum, so they are light weight. It does mean being a little more careful with them, but it saves the back a lot, and they will not rust. The light output is impressive, and setup takes just a few moments. This kit is with every penny and will let you hit the ground running in oNe easy step

Greet for product photography or video

This is a good starter kit for learning to work with continuous light. The two softboxes are medium-large size with a large CFL lightbulb. The bulb has color temp of 5500K which near pure white light. The light stands can extend quite high, however the feet base is narrow and will need to be sandbagged to avoid tipping. The cord is 6ft long so you absolutely will need extension cords. Can this lighting kit be used for photography? Yes, however, you will need to control the spill on some way. The front diffusers are great at spreading light, but always desired. The best category for this set as is would be for product photography. The carrying case nicely packs the bulbs, stands, and softboxes into a workable kit.

Very nice for photography and video making.

I started my YouTube channel and I needed some artificial light since I hate when it’s dark and I can’t record my videos because of the lack of sunlight. I decided to invest in a set of soft box lights and came around to Raleno 800w it hurts me a little because of the price but it is totally worth it when you see your final product either in photography or video making. Pros: easy to assemble, they come with a bag so you can them away if you don’t need them can be easily store under your bed or Inside your closet, the brightness it’s great it seems like daylight as soon your turn it on, they temperature doesn’t go high when you use it especially compare to my ring light. Cons: honestly not much to say here I think the only problem for me it is when you have put them away because they are kind of big and if you are like me that use them in a small room could be annoying put it away every time you’re not using it. Over all I’m quite happy with my set of lights I do recommend it.

Well lighted and evenly distributed

Works awesome, the softbox diffuses the light into a pleasing soft light, at the same time reduces harsh shadows. Comes with a carrying case, basically an easy 3 pieces setup, add the bulb and I am all ready for a shoot. The light bounces around the fabric box and scattered in all directions inside the box. The sides of the box direct the light outward. The light flooding out of the box is evenly distributed from top to the bottom of the box. The black exterior prevents light from spilling out and reflecting back in the studio. Works perfect as described, and if the price is right, this may be for you. Recommended. I will update this review if needed to share more experiences and therefore a frame of reference. I will add some photos shortly.

Get What You Paid For, But Works Great

I've been using this Raleno softbox kit for about a month now in my main set. I have to say compared to my older 600W kit, this one does a great job, and the quality is decent too. Now I do have to say; you get what you pay for when you get a set like this. But in all, this is a nice cheap set if you are on the go and need a softbox kit, or if you are starting out using softboxes. In the box, you get all the equipment, and it's all packed in the carrying case. Which has an extremely cheap feel to it. But it gets the job done. You get two of everything, two stands, two bulbs, and two softbox windows. One thing I do like about the stands is they both have the option to mount 1/4 threaded tip. So if you only use one softbox, you will have another stand to attach something else to it. I like that option, something I haven't seen in other kits. The only thing this kit is missing, is different color covers. But for the price, you can't have everything. The only major issue I have with this set, is that some of the mounting gear is cheaply made. Like the stands, yes, I'm happy they include the 1/4 threaded tip, but the stand seems to become very unstable when you have it at its max height. Also, the main assembly for the light is all plastic, and it looks like really cheap plastic. So I'm concern that it might break easily over time. Overall, yes, this is a great set, but it cheaply made, so if you are starting out using softboxes, then this might be a great set to start with, but I don't expect it to last long due to the quality of the product. Once you get past that, then yes, is is a great set; it includes everything you need to get started.

Absolutely love this product. Was so excited to get home from work and use it. I took some self portraits and some of my dogs! So pleased with this soft box!
