Great value. Cleans well. Larger dust cup than roomba.
So for the money, this is a great vacuum. It definitely leaves my floors cleaner and I don’t have to take out the big vacuum as much. I have an all tile house. Thin area rugs. He (Buddy) does great on it all. This is the most determined little robot! He doesn’t let obstacles stop him! He’s even tried to climb my leg a few times. He senses the drop off where the sliding glass door is and will turn away from the danger. He returns home to the dock to charge. He sings a tune when he needs your help.. either he’s stuck, needs his “butt” emptied or has gotten lost. There’s an app for your phone. You can program when you want him to work, you can tell him to start, stop or dock.. and best of all you can page him if you can’t find him. He will also tell you you why he’s calling for help they the app. It will send you notifications. Also .. and this is important to me. His “butt” aka dust cup.. is huge compared to the roomba. It’s easy enough to remove , empty and put back. I highly recommend this vacuum. Especially if you can catch it on sale for 199. I did have a problem with my first one, after a week it made a grinding sound when it would go up on a rug, however Amazon is amazing and the next day I had a new Buddy here and sent the old buddy back. Easy peasy.

LOVE THIS!
I am late to the robo-vac game but now I have seen the light and am here to testify. First, the vac is super easy to set up. I've used it in two environments and it's work fantastically in both. Downstairs we have wood floors and after we fixed things so that 'Robby' (the kids name everything) didn't get stuck, he did a very good job of picking up dog hair and kid and mom crumbs. Upstairs we temporarily have bare plywood as the carpet was pulled out but the wrong flooring was sent and... (long story). We set Robby lose and I was amazed at how the floor came out. I’ve been vacuuming but Robby left the floor feeling very clean. He also did a phenomenal job under the bed where there were a ton of dustballs, I’m sure. The one downside I need to tell you about is the noise. Robby is very loud. Not as loud as our upright vacuum cleaner but too loud for my hyper-sensitive mom ears to want to be in the same room with it. Our solution is to run Robby upstairs when we are down, and vice versa. So far only good things to say about it. Picks up dog hair, dust, and crumbs.

Amazing!
I chose Shark over all of the other brands because we love our other 3 Shark products. And, bonus, it was half price! We have 3 dogs and a cat with all laminate flooring. Only having time to do a good vacuum job once (maybe twice) a week this seemed like something we needed to try out. Seriously, we need to vacuum at the least, every other day. We were AMAZED how much pet hair this picked up! The first 2 images are 2 days after hard-core vacuuming and the third image is the day after the first images. We were shocked that there was that much hair on the floor the next day! Both runs were 1-2 hours each. The second run I used the app to start her (we named her Rosie) from work. She was all done when I got home. I don't know how long the battery lasts but it had not yet died after either run. She is so entertaining as she doesn't know where to go sometimes but has yet to get stuck. She even runs over the area rugs and you can see the debris get removed. We have made a jingle about our new family addition! I hope she holds up over time. Thank you Shark for your awesome products!!

I love this thing.
This review is coming from a self-professed, and maybe mildly OCD, vac-a-holic. I have a tendency to vacuum every day. My house doesn't feel completely clean until I've vacuumed. I acquired this little vac as a black Friday deal. I charged it up and have used it everyday since. My house is a modest 1600 sq ft. I move small area rugs, make sure any cords are not lying about and then let it randomly bump it's way around the house. It runs for approx 100 minutes on "normal" mode. Coverage, considering the randomness or lack of pattern, is just fine. It makes it's way from one end of the house to the other. The dust bin was absolutely stuffed on the first two runs due to the fact that it vacuums under my couch and beds where I never vacuum because it's too low or not convenient. Moves from carpet to hard floors with no problem. The magnetic strips work well to keep it out of certain spaces. When it does get into a tight spot it eventually bumps it's way free. In the two weeks I've been using it, I've had to rescue it twice. There's been negative comment about it's inability to dock itself. If my robot is near the docking station and has a clear path, then yes, it will dock itself. Most times it's in another room when it signals that it's time to dock and I personally don't have an issue with picking it up (it's very lightweight) and placing it on the dock. All this said, this self-professed vac-a-holic has only pulled out the full size vacuum twice in the two weeks I've owned this little robot and after the thing runs, my house looks and feels clean.

Does its job and Pet friendly
This is my first Robot vacuum so I do not have any prior experience to compare this with. I bought it on an Amazon Sale for half off. I thought this is at a price point that I could give this new gadget a try. I am pet sitting for my sons and currently have a dog and cat at home. Since the reviews said that this vacuum does a good job with pet hair, I decided to pick this up. I have no issue to connect the vacuum to my phones or tablet. The app works well. This vacuum seems to able to see, it slows down just before it hits an obstacle. I am surprised that how much dust and pet hair this vacuum would pick up. This robot vacuum seems to sweep in a random pattern, however, it does its job. I watch with amazement on how this vacuum cleaning the floor beneath a dining room chair. My machine has no trouble finding the dock. I live in a condo so I do not have a large floor and the vacuum does its job. I have mostly hard floors and it went up on my area rugs to clean without any issue. At normal setting, this robot vacuum makes a lot less noise than my regular vacuum. It does not really scare off either the dog or the cat. Both just calmly step aside when it sweeps by. At current price of $200.00, I think this is a good buy. It does what it advertised and so far, I like it. Our pets are not spooked by it when it is sweeping, that alone is a win for me. It amazing that how much pet hair this Robot vacuum would pick up. It could also reach low places that are too difficult to reach with a regular vacuum. After a few weeks of use, I am sold. This is really a good vacuum. I am so glad that I picked this up on sale.

I love this.
I had been very resistant to trying one of these as my daughter has one and it seems having it on the floor in the way while it was charging was inconvenient. My god, it is worth having it in its little spot charging away. I have brick pavers in my kitchen and the floor was constantly dirty from everyone eating and the fact that that's the room we live in. Sweeping twice a day was not fun so enter this little jewel. After unboxing and charging, I set it off to do it's thing. It cleans very well and got up all the major stuff which is all I'm concerned about on a daily basis. Putting him to work before neighbors came over meant I didn't have to do the sweeping and could go do other stuff which was amazingly helpful. Sort of like having a hubby do it but I didn't have to say anything to him about how crappy he did it...Anyway, this is so easy to control with the app which sort of makes it fun and it is not noisy at all. You can check on progress or schedule things. So handy. It works well on my hardwoods and he really big bin means less emptying and more cleaning. I guess I don't have that much to compare this too since it's my first experience with one of these, but I am very impressed with it and it has worked well so far. My house is a lot cleaner with minimal effort on my part.

I Love This Robovac
Hands down this is one of the best purchases I've ever made. Having never owned a robovac before, I was skeptical about their utility but I'm beyond impressed. Starting off I think it's important to note that I have two dogs, one of which being a husky. If you've ever owned a husky and hardwood floors you know that one day without sweeping results in balls of hair rolling around your home like high noon at the O.K. Corral. I knew whichever vacuum I purchased would need to be up to the task of cleaning up massive amounts of hair on the daily, and the R85 by Shark has proven itself beyond capable. The suction power is impressive, and picks up tiny particles that you miss when sweeping. There is nothing more amazing then watching it traverse your home, whirling away over "clean" areas, and then checking the debris container and seeing a whole mess of dust. You WILL want to show somebody and they WILL look at you like you're crazy. Best of all, these little robots have no issue going under your bed and taking care of any dust bunnies you've got hidden away. No more awkward finagling for "good enough". I must also mention that Shark has taken the time to make the maintenance of this unit as painless as possible. For example, removing hair that tangles in the roller is two clip presses away. Again, I can't speak for other brands, but the ease of this really impressed me as I believed that the more compact something is, the more difficult it would be to get to the important components. Shark has proven that this is not the case. You'll wonder why all vacuums aren't this well designed. I can honestly say that from this point onward, I will never be without a robovac, and I couldn't be happier with my R85. For someone with pets and hardwood floors, I don't think you will find one better. Especially when this unit is on sale. My criticisms of this product are so insignificant compared to the benefits, that I can't even imagine removing a star, but I will mention them below. - Carpeted areas don't seem to get nearly as clean. This seems typical to me as I wouldn't expect a robovac to perform as well as an upright. Admittedly, I haven't tried using the MAX setting. - I wish that the filter included was re-usable. I can see myself having to replace it often and would prefer a cleanable/permanent filter. Perhaps this could be designed into future models or as an add-on. - There's no mapping feature. This little robot seems to cover all the areas anyways so it hasn't been an issue for me, but it would be a nice feature. - It's a little noisy. Not alarmingly so, but I wouldn't have it on during a phone conversation or when watching TV. I chalk this up to the R85's impressive suction power, so I'm not complaining. -Sometimes this little bot needs help finding his way to back to the docking station, but you'll receive a little gracious tune for helping it get home. If what you're looking for is a powerful little robovac for an amazing price, consider the R85. Shark put functionality and design first and it shows. For an entry level unit, this must be a top contender. With this being my first Shark product, I look forward to seeing what else they produce in the future.

Regret Not Buying It Sooner!
We have 4 cats, 1 dog, and 2 young children. We run this twice a day, one being at 3 am that is scheduled through the app. The app itself is easy to navigate through, I set the schedule in a minute, literally. We have it set up in the common area which is living room, dining room, kitchen, and hall. It powers through it all. Not once have we had the shark stop due to battery life. We have had it stop due to being full, we have to empty it once a day. Other than the first time it ran through, it doesn't ram into things. Even the first time though, it wasn't a hard slam. All in all, not loud. I can put some light music on and the shark is barely heard. The magnetic strips work really well other than our kids handling them. I know some have a problem with only being able to schedule the shark through the app, I find it very convenient. Instead of pressing a whole bunch of buttons and figuring out how to do all that, the app makes it so easy. We haven't finished putting our floors in so there's a significant difference between our old floors and the floors on top of those. The shark handles it with ease. Overall I am very satisfied with the product. I would never be able to keep up with the floors on my own. I honestly felt guilty 'splurging' on myself, even with it being 50% off. After using it consistely for a bit, it's so key to having a clean house, I honestly regret not buying this sooner. The shark even forces us to keep our house cleaner by clearing the floors at least twice a day.
