Great Knife for Its Purpose
This is a really good knife for the money, but you do need to know a couple of things. Being a Japanese grind, it is beveled on only one side (the right one) so it is suitable only for right handed use. Second, it is sturdy, but not intended for heavy chopping. Do not use this as a deba or usuba. If you keep those two things in mind, you will be delighted with the quality and feel of this knife. Nice German steel, arrives honed and ready, and a truly comfortable handle, although it is symmetrical (I prefer Japanese knives to have the traditional asymmetrical handle that has a bulge to fit your fingers). But the price is amazing for the quality. Great for veggie and fruit prep!

I always wanted a Deba. Ever since I watched my fav sushi chef use his to clean whole fish, I thought that I could use one. Well, I was right. Love this knife.I was steaking up a big Kingfish the other day and this sliced right through the backbone with very little effort. Watch your fingers! Happy with my purchase!
