You have to fool with the little shutoff valves and the # of holes you punch in the top of the bottle to get the drip rate that works best for the size pot. That said, the product works great as a "plant IV" and I think the seller did go the extra mile in terms of including options and instructions with the product. Although I"m buying plastic, I can at least put some plastic water bottles to good use and I really recommend this seller & this product. I'm very pleased.

The product works good. It takes time in order to set the drops timing but once is set up you don’t need to worry about your plants. If you have a large plant buoy can use more than 4 spikes

I live in the Black Hills, so it gets pretty dry here, especially in the summer. So, while I'm out and about, I keep a hefty supply of water bottles with me. Sometimes, it's convenient to keep the empty bottles to refill them later. However, at the end of the day, I still throw them away (no rhyme intended). A while back, my sister introduced me to a new friend she made, an older woman, who treated us like we were grandkids. She even gave me a plant as a gift. However, since it was from a subtropical area, it required more attention for watering and I don't like using up energy to do that a lot. Fortunately, another friend of mine brought these water spikes to my attention, and the gears in my head began working, when I remembered that I use a lot of water bottles. So, I bought it to give it a shot. As advertised, the package came with twelve spikes, along with a bag of valves to attach to them. It even came with washer rings in the case of leaks. Giving it a test run, it seems to work as promised, since the valve was easily adjustable to change the rate of flow (or drips) for whatever ecosystem certain plants come from. Now, the spikes seemed to be made for. Liter-sized bottles, so my little 16 fl oz ones needed washer rings to attach to them. Once it was all set, I didn't need to bother with watering my plant. Now I just refill the bottle. Best of all, I didn't have to fill the trash bag as fast! After that, I gave a couple of the spares to my parents, who decided to grow some onions. I recommend this for people, who like to recycle products to be used around the home or for people that want a cheap way to use the "drip method" of watering potted plants.

Came across to find this self watering spikes. It is easy to use. Difficult part for me is to find bottles which fit to the spike as I don't drink bottled water/beverages. Once I got few bottles which work, then it is easy to fill up water, screw spikes on, poke some holes on the bottom of bottles. Then, thr control valvr helps to adjust water flow. Now, I can be away from home and not worry about my plants dying. It is clever design.

Once the water bottle was attached, there were no leaks around the threaded connection. The Self Watering Spike then was easy to place in beside a potted plant and the valve adjusted. After a few minor adjustments, the amount of water dripping into the soil was adequate for maintaining the plant for several days. We will be using the Self Watering Spike on all of our indoor plants as well as some on our outside deck. I would recommend the Self Watering Spike for anyone who has potted plants.

I purchased these because I was going to Hawaii for a week. My sister would probably have killed my plants indoors. Lol. Not much of a green thumb. Pretty cool idea for reutilizing plastic water bottles. I accidentally stripped 2 of the nozzles. I've been told I'm a bull in a China cabinet. Just be careful not to overtighten. Should have read the instructions. Lol.

I’m the type of person that will kill plants because I forget to water them. So these self watering spikes are great for me. I don’t have to worry about watering my plants everyday. If I skip a couple of days I won’t be killing my plants anymore. I used a 2 liter recycled water bottle and it is great for my small potted plants. It does drip a bit faster than I thought it would but I’m still playing with the adjustments. If you see my picture, the daylight one vs the at night one. There was a 7 hour difference between the daylight picture and the nighttime picture. So the water drips at a steady pace.

These spikes are great for keeping plants fresh when you are busy or out of town. I personally am very forgetful about watering my plants, anyway, which is why I wanted to try these. You just screw the nozzle onto any water bottle (once you've removed the lid), and screw the spike into the opposite side. Put them in spike side down into the soil of your plant, being careful not to damage any roots. The water will slowly release into the soil keeping your plant fresh for days. It comes in a nice box with all the parts you need and instructions. But it's pretty easy to use, so you may not even need them. It's nice to have a buffer on remembering to water my plants so they don't start to wither in the meantime!

This is so usefull for me because I don't always remember to water my plants. The spoke have a cute little value that you can adjust so you don't over water them. The spikes only work with certain bottles. You can't use the weak bottles.

This was a life saver for me.I am going to my Europe trip and really didnt knew what to do with my plants. So I found out self watering spike. It works great.Got different size of bottles. It will last me fpr 2 weeeks wich is perfect for me)
