Well packaged, clear instructions

It just arrived today. I've just barely got it put together so I've not gotten any use out of it. Once I do I will update review accordingly. I will say this... I work just as hard to earn my dollar as you do yours and when I choose to buy from and support a business (regardless of the product or service they offer) I expect to receive what I'm promised in exchange for my money. While I dont think I've got unreasonable standards, I do have them and expect that what I trade my hard earned buck for to be as promised, to last, to be functional, and the company to stand by their product(s) as I do mine. Because let's face it, things and stuff happen and sometimes we get duds. So once I get to put this pony to work I will review based on those standards. Let's be honest here I chose this particular pony for 2 reasons #1 reviews and #2 the price point. Upon unboxing and putting it together it appears to be well made BUT time will tell once I'm able to put it to use. I would like to give a pat on the back to the sellers for making instructions with pictures. Although I know how to put one together, not everyone does. And it just so happened there was as extra screw and nut that had it not been for the detailed instructions/pictures I'd have chased my tail for a while until I realized it appears to have been overlooked. Many reviews I read for various items get docked stars due to not having clear and concise instructions. It comes in just 2 pieces that the buyer must attach it's really simple but not everyone has used/worked with stitching ponies before. Please note that you will need a Phillip's screw driver as well as an allen wrench that are NOT included.

3rd hand.

Just the right size to put under your butt in a kitchen chair, and hold the work at the perfect height to easily stitch. Its natural opening is anywhere from 3/8" to 5/8" (9.5 - 15.8 mm) I do wonder about its durability IF the jaws are repeatedly forced extra wide. I just don't know how the jaws are secured at the base block. This shouldn't be a problem though if you use the tool appropriately. I am going to add a magnet to each side of the jaws to hold my harness needles. If you are buying this item you must be a crafty person anyway, so modify it as you wish.

Makes Leather Projects Easy!!

I have always wanted to learn to make things out of leather. I thought it would be fun to design my own belts. I saw this on Amazon and thought it would be a good time to try to make something. This tool is really easy to work with and it hold my projects Tight!! It's really fun to make things and I hope to make myself a wallet next!

makes it easy for old tired fingers and eyes

great to work with as I am bed ridden due to cancer and I can sit in bed and stitch and not fight with alignment and shifting issues.

Good enough

Im pretty happy with it. Clamped it down to a sturdy table and it works just like its supposed to. I really like that the edges r covered in leather. Way cheaper than the one i almost bought at tandys

Ready to go right out of the box

I love this stitching pony. I took it out of the box, use the bolt to put the two pieces together and started in on the project I was currently working on. Having both hands free to do the stitching allows your stitches to be neat and uniform. I purchased this one specifically because the leather was already on the clamp portion and all the edges of the wood were beveled. Could I have altered a different product that didn't include these features? Yes, but I figured my time would be better used making a leather project. I had been using a vise to hold my work. With this pony my projects are much more portable so I can work while the kids are at classes. I would highly recommend this product.

Good quality and design

This item is sturdy and well made. The wood is smooth and the jaws that clamp down on the item you're sewing is covered with a layer of soft leather so it doesn't mar your item. I see that the Simpzia company publishes a leather working instruction book and has a store and school, so they seem genuinely interested in leather craft.

I always wanted a Pony.

Just started back into leather working and I wanted a pony for hand stitching. I stitching two knife scabbard last night. the pony did well. held the leather firm while I pulled hard on holes I made to small. I will buy from this company again. Thanks

Its adjustable!

This is one of the BEST things I have ever bought for my leather working! For so long I have been holding belts and wallets between my knees and hunching over! Not anymore. Very well packed, super easy to put together! Took me less then 5 mins to assemble it. Easy to adjust and a nice leather wrap to protect your work. All the edges are beveled and very nicely sanded. Super happy with this purchase! Wish I could give it more stars!

Very solid constuction

I was super excited to try this product. Up until this point I had to hold my product in one hand while working in the other. This stitching pony has made my work so much easier, consistent, and faster. I feel like I can really get into a seam and keep the line tight as I work around the peice. The result is a much neater stitch. I would highly recommend this.
