Bad camera, great customer service

Second things first: Boblov customer service is terrific. That's the reason for the 5 star rating. the Maxi action cam...well, not so much. I have an original Mobius and 2 Mobius2s so I'm familiar with the cameras. Sometimes they can be fussy and recalcitrant connecting to a computer. But they're small, cheap and produce very good quality video. Unfortunately, the Maxi is a nearly complete bust. It arrived not functioning. After several hours of coaxing, pleading, swearing, swapping cables that worked perfectly fine with other devices and also swapping computers to find a combination the Maxi liked, not to mention endless resets, memory card formats and firmware updates, I got it working. Yay! Then it didn't. While it will connect to my desktop PC more or less without issue, it steadfastly refuses to connect to my Surface Book laptop and also refuses to abide by the Auto Start on External power setting despite selecting that setting at least a half dozen times in the set up program. Ditto for re-orienting the picture 90 degrees. It just won't do it. And then there is the "150 degree FOV lens." When I compared a Mobius 2 with C2 wide angle lens (130 degree advertised FOV, as I recall) side by side with the Maxi's supposed 150 degree FOV, the Maxi's actual FOV was much more narrow than the Mobius 2 w/C2 wide angle lens. The actual FOV for the Maxi looked to be maybe 120 degrees. So it's not 150 degrees in the sense essentially all buyers think of it, though Customer Service offered up a technical explanation of why it really is 150 degrees. On the other hand the Maxi's image quality is really good...impressive, actually. In any event, I contacted customer service about the dud Maxi I received and they replied promptly, politely and with a quite satisfactory solution. So double yay!! for Boblov's customer service. The bottom line to this review is that I don't recommend the Maxi. But, Boblov is a good company to deal with so if you need a small action cam, I recommend the Mobius2 and Boblov.
