Very happy with the Hohem

There are so many gimbals to choose from, and there are a lot of negative reviews and a lot of great reviews, which makes it ever harder to choose. Overall, I'm impressed with this one. The app works well enough, but it still works without installing the app. I was concerned that it would work well with my Samsung Note 9, but there is enough adjustment to hold the phone without problem. It could use a bit more adjustment in the horizontal axis, but the gimbal doesn't seem to struggle to hold the phone level. I've not used it enough yet to have a feel for the battery life, but based on other reviews, it should last as long as I'll need.

Solid product for the price.

This is a very solid product for the price tag. I work with video on a daily basis and I am always looking for something new to add to my productions. Now a days we all always have a camera phone on us at all times, so it is great when it can be incorporated into the production. The Hohem Smartphone Gimbal makes this easy and quick to incorporate into a production. Let me go through some of the pros and cons. Pros: 1) Lightweight. The product is very light, which is great for attaching to a monopod and moving without killing your back. Also great for adding to a small kit when doing a production. 2) Packaging. The product comes in a great packaging that fits the gimble, the small tripod and the charging cable. This is rare, so many camera gear and accessories come without its own bag or a bag that fits everything that it comes with. 3) Battery. This has a great battery, definity outlasts the phone. Plus you can charge the gimble while using, so all you need is a USB charger. Also you can use the battery in the gimble to charge your phone while recording. 4)Easy app. The app is pretty easy to navigate. Also very quick to set up, this is always key when working on a video set. 5)Face tracking. This is pretty awesome if you are recording video of yourself for a Vlog. You can set the gimble on a table or tripod and not have to worry about walking out of the shot. 6) Timelapse. Not only is the time lapse handy, but being about to set start and end points is fantastic. This can really save you time from zooming in and digitally panning in post production. 7) easy controls. The pan/tilt and zoom controls are very easy to use and respond very well on the product. Cons: 1) Jerking motion. Sometimes I get a quick jerking motion from the gimble, but this is mostly when moving too fast. After a few test shots this becomes a non issue. 2) App capture in lower video quality. I had no problems recording 4k video on my phone through the app, but as soon as I switched to the lower quality for face tracking I did notice a larger than expected drop in video quality. 3) Large phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy 9+ which may be a bit too large. The Gimble worked just fine with it, but for charging a smaller phone would be key. Also my phone had to be taken out of the case. Not a big deal, but be aware if you have a larger phone. Some tips I found: 1) set the phone into the gimble before turning the gimble on. 2) set up the bluetooth connection through the app and not through your phone's bluetooth Over all this is a great product and a great addition to your video kit. I definitely recommend this for Vloggers and independent producers with good camera phones. I have already used this for quite a bit of behind the scenes footage and I am very happy with what I have recorded.

Best Gimbal for the money

This Gimbal is the best. If you have read my other reviews, you know that I have tried others. This was very easy to set up and balance my iPhone X. It’s automatic, meaning you can push a button and move it up/down and right/left. The app was easy to download and has some neat features. The case is the best I’ve seen. Everything fits nicely with plenty of room, yet it is compact and lightweight. I highly recommend.

Great value ... makes recording video fun

So I have really enjoyed this gimbal in my time since purchasing. 1. The ease of use after some practicing has been great. 2. I have used the app with both my iPhone xr and Galaxy s10e. I noticed the app seemed to work better with the iPhone. But still was able to use with my android phone. 3. The awesome footage I was a a learning to get is incredible. I was using a lot of 60 fps and then slowing it down to make some really great cinematic footage. 4. The battery life has been great for me and it also can be used to charge your phone. But cant charge while using because of placement of the phone. 5. The build quality is great and I really enjoy the tripod and face tracking to help film my YouTube videos. Overall I think you cant beat this gimbal for the price. 👍
