You can brown sear in the pot right on the stove with gas electric or induction. then use the same pot in the slow cooker to finish. the controls are super convenient and easy the size of pot is perfect. holds a whole chicken, making cakes and deserts and breads in it you no longer need to grease the inside or grease and flour. put it right in the pot and it comes out easy and quick from the non stick ceramic surface. nothing sticks to inside and everything comes out perfectly. I highly recommend getting this slow cooker. toss out your old for this one, it is beautiful and it hold a lot. I am so pleased with it, GREAT DESIGN>

love this- cooks to perfection. Replaced my 20+ year old Hamilton Beach crock pot and couldn't be more pleased. Highly recommend.

After a short time, we are very happy with the cooker. Black bean soup cooking within 10 minutes of finding the box at the door. The thing looks like high-quality. The insert is substantial and looks as if it will hold up to the stove top and cleaning. The top fits better than any of the 2,321 other crock pots we've blown through. It's got a great seal with a steamhole. Perfect. The best thing about it is the control flexibility. There is no guessing or relying on the pot. Set the time and heat setting and the digital display tells you exactly where you are. The thing heats uniformly and seems to be calibrated correctly in terms of the setting matching the heat level. The soup cooked perfectly. You won't get a better pot for the price. Buy one.

The saute-in-the-crock feature is one of the main reasons I purchased this crock pot, and it does seem to work well. I like everything about this appliance, except I wish the heat control wasn't necessarily tied to the cooking timer. The timer is great, and a good feature, but I'm used to setting a temperature level, and just checking it when I feel it's done, not estimating when that time will be. But it's super easy to adjust the time. I like the non-stick interior, you just have to be careful about not using metal implements. It was a good excuse for me to buy silicone tongs.

I started by reading Consumer Reports, which I do not trust much anymore, followed by reading Amazon reviews on brands and models recommended by Consumer Reports. Not surprisingly, many of the ones recommended by Consumer Reports did NOT have high ratings in Amazon. I chose the Calphalon Digital Sauté Slow Cooker because it is the only slow cooker which gets great Amazon reviews about its temperature accuracy, ease of use, and attractive looks. You will not regret buying the Calphalon slow cooker.

I wish I bought this year's ago. Easy and perfect way to cook! Prep and walk away...I love this!!! So easy to clean and great size to show!!!

I had to replace a Cuisinart sauting slow cooker because in less than a year the non-stick surface started chipping off. I really like the inner pot on this slow cooker as the non-stick does not appear to be as chippable. The controls are simple and intuitive. I had not noticed it running hot as others have said. Everything has cooked perfectly.

I love the material the pot is made up....such a breeze to clean up. I wish I'd had this years ago.

I love this slow cooker. Pros: Nonstick. Simple to use. Easy to clean. Con: Massive outer pot. Not sure why this has to be so massive. Not a space saver for sure.

Happy with my purchase!! Use it all the time
