Easy installation - works great!

These were literally 1/3 the price of equivalent Malone J-bar folding mounts and are very good quality. They installed easily and are very secure. We needed these to fold in order to clear the garage door on top of a 2012 Honda Pilot. One suggestion for the manufacturer - please update the plastic strap alignment clip at the top of the long side of the J-bar from open to closed so that the racket strap is held in place. Getting the strap into the groove after the kayaks are loaded is tricky.

Ratchet tie down picture

Product came as described and fast delivery. Each piece was wrapped to avoid damage in transit. All the items were in the box. The instructions for assembly were easy. The only thing I would suggest are more details as to how the ratchet ropes should be placed. I also wish there was a way to keep the ratchet tie downs in the top grooves when raising the kayak to the roof. Maybe a loop to go through would make it easier. They fall out of the groove and it's very tough to put them back when the kayak is on top of the car and if there are 2 kayaks on top it's nearly impossible.

Can’t wait to use them!

They seem like premium racks. Pretty easy to install and they fold up well. We have them on the car but haven’t moved yet so I don’t know how quiet they are. I’ll update after we get to use them this weekend.

Great Value and Product

These were purchased to carry two kayaks on my Honda CRV. I park in the my garage so I needed a J-bar that was foldable. I did make a slight modification on the bracket to fit my aftermarket brightlines oval crossbars, as they are molded to better fit a round bar. They are very easy to install and hold the kayaks well. This may not be an expensive name brand product, but the quality is at a high standard and makes a solid carrier.

This mount will work with a flatter type crossbar such as a Honda CRV

I really liked that the the bottom bracket could be used with a flatter crossbar. I spent literally hours trying to find an adjustable mount that would conform to fit my 2014 Honda CR-V crossbar. All I had to do was slightly flatten out the bottom mount bracket by "squishing" it in a vise to allow a tighter, flusher fit. (refer to the pictures) I also used a foam pipe insulator on the upper bracket to further protect my new crossbar from getting marred, although a set of thin rubber flanges is provided for each bracket. I wanted the adjustable angle mount so I could lower them when not transporting the kayaks and to allow clearance for garage parking. I would also highly suggest getting 2 sets of the trunk/hood loop tie down straps to be used with the included ratchet cords. It's important to tie down the front and rear of each kayak for additional safety. We traveled approximately 500 miles with two kayaks strapped to my Honda CR-V pulled behind our motor home without any issues. Nice quality hardware and heavy duty mounts!

Very nice kayak racks for the money

I had racks similar to this design previously that did not fold and were not assembled in the box. These I only had to mount on the factory crossbars and attach the clamping bracket from the bottom . Works well on our Subaru Forester . Looks much nicer, less aesthetically annoying in the folded mode and less concerning to drive into the garage .

Great Roof-Rack for First Time Kayaker!

I had just bought a kayak off FB Market and had somehow managed to get it home on top of the minivan. My wife reminded me that we had 5 boys who would be wanting to go out, so we needed to get another kayak. My quandary - if it took 30+ minutes to fasten one kayak onto the minivan's roof, we might as well give up if we were going to get another one. Lo and behold! When I searched for a double roof rack, it came up with so many choices, but I opted for AA-Racks 2Pair J-Bar. When it came in, it took me no more than 30 minutes to get both pairs fastened and I was even able to go to the store and buy the second one using my new rack. The only challenge for me was finding the optimum way to fasten the ratchet straps to the racks and here again, the instructions provided were more than adequate. I would strongly recommend this purchase for someone looking to fasten one or two kayaks to your car roof. Now it takes less than 10 minutes to load and fasten or unfasten and unload 2 kayaks - AA-Racks 2Pair J-Bar is a great buy!

A good product which is easy to assemble and install

The product is sturdy and well manufactured. The instructions are clear (with the exceptions noted below). This product offers good value for the price. The package of parts came with 8 plastic washers for each set of rails. However, nowhere in the instructions did it say how these were to be used or installed. It was only by looking at how the unit was built did I figure out where the plastic washer should probably go. Also, the instructions on how to properly use the ratchet straps isn't very clear, and how to use the strap guides on the top center of the rails is not clear.

Gets the job done!

Great kayak racks. Mine have not rusted after being on the top of our car for around a month in all weather. It took a long time to install but they haven’t fallen off yet so I assume everything is good to go! Carried two kayaks on top of our Mazda-3 hatchback really well! Would buy again.
