I have had a number of small beginner drones, some different brands but mostly I keep coming back to Holy Stone...I fly them with my 2 boys, ages 6 and 8. After having flown this new drone, the HS120D for a couple weeks now, it seems to be another good one. It has a high build quantity and is durable, my kids crash these things time after time and all my Holy Stone models are still going strong....certain parts(propeller blades) will break but you get a packet of parts with the drones So this specific drone is a step up from my other ones....here are the highlights for me so far *cool, well thought out packaging and presentation *long battery life, advertised as 16 minutes and that seems about right....most drones are half that... *better camera...a real camera that takes good pictures and videos in HD *camera is movabale *remote controller can be folded up to a smaller size *GPS that will allow it to return with a low battery...seems to work pretty good *more features with the camera and GPS than your basic beginner drone

I've never flown a drone...much less owned one! But aerial video and photos would really help in a project I have to take care of. So I researched everything I could find...on Amazon and other sites. I determined three things were especially important to me: 1) good 1080 pixel video; 2) features that would reduce the chances of me from crashing the thing (like one button take off and landing); 3) features that would make it harder for a totally inexperienced pilot like me to let the drone just fly away into the distance, leaving me forlorn. I don't want an expensive (or even inexpensive) toy...I want something I can count on. So I did more research. Narrowed my choices down to about 8 possibilities, then further to three which seemed to have all the features I needed and got decent reviews. I sprung for the Holy Stone 120D. I've been test flying and learning it for the past few days, a bit at a time. First thing I did was make sure those 'safety' features worked well -- like one button take off and landing and return to home. Seemed to work fine. Then the camera...pretty good, clear video. Looking really closely I can see some minor distortions...but pretty good for a rather inexpensive camera. Definitely good enough for my purposes. A little at a time I flew it higher...farther away. It's been responsive, reliable, easy to learn and easy to handle. Really, the most challenging part has been remembering how to do the pairing and various calibrations without referring to the very clear manual. I couldn't have been more happy. Then, a couple of hours ago I took it for another test/learning flight. It was more breezy than it had been previously, so I decided to stay low and close. While it was flying the breeze suddenly picked up...it started to become rather windy. I began to bring the drone home...it was fighting the wind, I could tell...and the wind was starting to win! I pushed the return to home button and it began it's beeping sequence, indicating 'return to home' was engaged. The wind picked up more...the drone was being lifted higher and higher and blown farther and farther away by the wind. Nothing I was doing was helping and...my nightmare scenario...the drone became smaller and smaller and smaller in the distance. The beeping on the transmitter assured me the 'return home' was engaged...but obviously the wind was just too, too strong. The drone completely disappeared from sight. I was annoyed and angry with myself more than anything...stupid to have tried to fly such a light machine in the breeze and not pay more attention. I started packing up. I decided to wait longer, just in case. I let the 'return to home' beep continue. I waited five minutes...eight minutes...ten minutes. Then, over the sound of the breeze, I thought I might be hearing the buzzing of the drone's props. No...that wasn't it. Then again, but a bit louder. I looked up. Couldn't find anything...just my imagine. But several seconds later I could hear the sound again only louder. I looked up again and to my amazement, there is was! About 100 feet overhead and slowly descending. It landed perfectly, just a couple of feet from where it had taken off at the beginning of its wild ride. I am SO GLAD I got the Holy Stone 120D! The only thing which hasn't worked perfectly is that the Android app sometimes doesn't seem to connect to the drone. Usually it connects just fine...but sometimes the drone and the app don't seem to connect. I'm going to call support for suggestions. The WiFi connects easily and strongly, but for some reason the app doesn't always connect well. That's not very important to me because from the outset I've preferred to use the handheld transmitter controls. I think the only thing I might miss, if the app doesn't connect, is seeing on the phone screen what the camera sees. So far I haven't missed that at all if it fails to connect. Overall I couldn't be more pleased

HS120D Review To sum up the HS120D in one word would have to be wow. When you open the box the first thing you are greeted with is quality packaging from someone who takes pride in the job they do. Upon unpacking I noticed a controller that had real handles on it. I have very big hands and sometimes it is difficult to hold a controller and utilize all the functions, not so with the 120 D controller the handles are a wonderful addition that makes flying that much more pleasurable. I would suggest starting in beginner mode because this drone is fast And very responsive to the controls a little touch goes along way. At one point during the flight the drone stopped and gently landed on the ground I looked down to see that the old cell phone I was using as a controller was re-booting don’t know why but as soon as the drone lost the signal it landed. I loved it. I am still learning about this drone there are so many expert functions built into this for this price it is unreal so I will be addingTo this review as I learn more about it it would be unfair to Holy Stone to give a quick review of such an awesome drone. This drone has on board GPS that adds to the enjoyment of worry free flying. If you start it off with gps enabled and it looses it signal or the battery is to low the drone will return to where it took off from. If you pay close attention to the instructions both in the book and the quick start guide you will be flying in no time. I had one technical problem during setup and called customer support I was warmly greeted by a lovely lady named Ally Wu who not only cleared up my issue Quickly and professionally she actually made me glad I had a problem because of how pleasant she was to deal with. Happy flying every one.

HS 120D Wow! For the $ best drone so far! I have 700,100g,100, only thing I would like is brushless motors. But it makes up for that with all the other stuff. I'll post some videos when it quits raining! Highly recommend! Old fast guy under tree is me, our winter retreat in AZ.
