I use this to attach my badge for work and I love it.

I use this to attach my badge for work and I love it. I use this every weekeday and it is so convenient for me to slip on to my pants pocket and badge in to my building. The retractable part has been really smooth- no issues so far. But note- the only thing I need I my badge, no keys etc attached so not sure about sturdiness with a lot of weight.

More strength than I needed

I bought this item for it's durability but I didn't know that it'd come with so much weight. I should've looked for something a lot cheaper and maybe plastic because I'm only using it for work badges. I think this thing was made for janitor's keys. I gave it 5 stars because it's a good buy but way more quality than I needed.

Very well made

The first impression upon opening the package was the heft; these badge holders are heavy, solid. They look well put together. They are of a dark metallic gray color that is elegant and pleasing to the eye; beautiful but not showy. The retractable cord is metallic, and it looks and feels sturdy. It is a bit harder to pull than a conventional one where the cord is made of nylon or something similar, but this is to be expected given its added weight. I have only used this for about a week, but it feels strong and really durable. Obviously time will tell, but if the materials are anything to go by, I think this will be a very long lasting holder that will last for years to come. It certainly feels like it will.

Solid all metal construction

Only had it for two weeks but I get the impression this will last a long time; "Heavy duty" is accurate. The thing is entirely metal except for the internal wheel the metal cord wraps around. I took a change on this item before it had any reviews and am really happy I did. It seems to be in the same price range of the cheaper plastic ones with thread cords but of a much higher quality. Would definitely recommend.

Read closely, bigger than expected, have to use on belt

I got this thinking I could use it for my shirt. No way. Too big and heavy. Probably didn’t read the description well. But it is nicely constructed and fits on my belt loop well. High quality. Worth it.

Nothing is ever used for it's intended purpose.

I find that Key Reels are the perfect Chuck Wrinch holder on a Drill Press. Because it is retractable if I drop the Chuck WrinchI don't have to look all over for it. Durability and Sturdiness will be determined over time, but there appear to be of good material and quality.

Heavy Duty; means Heavy Duty

When they say heavy duty, they mean heavy duty. My previous badge holder reel was worn on my belt loop but with the size and weight of this one I will have to switch to wearing/clipping it to my belt for fear of damaging my pant belt loops over time. No worries though because my biggest concern, the strength of the reel wire, has been fully addressed by this product. Very heavy duty wire that should not break over time as my previous badge reels have. I highly recommend this product, just be aware that the reel is bigger and heavier than the badge holder reels you may have used in the past.

Great retractable key chain

I needed a strong retractable key chain, because I start and restart my van all day. I work delivering print proofs, which requires using my keys about 30 times a day. Most retractable key chains are made from a coated cloth or fishing type line that breaks fairly quickly. I’ve gone through 5 of those type in less than a year. This key chain has a virtually indestructible wire line that probably will last years. Great product

FINALLY a sturdy badge reel

Nothing is worse that dropping your badge and watching your cheap plastic reel shatter and unravel. After having this happen a few times I finally decided to seek out something heavy duty. This thing is solid. It’s survived several drops and I even stepped on it the one day as a test. Solid as a rock. Worth every penny.

So far, so good

I'm in maintenance and my company issues cheap plastic retracting lanyards with our security/access badges. I've broken several over the years, almost losing my access badge and master key one time. I decided I needed to get a better one, and went to the local Home Depot. They had a beaded chain-model that seemed better, so I bought it. I broke that one within a few months as well. After checking around on amazon I decided to go with this model. So far its has been great. The action is really smooth, no extra force needed to get it started. The outer metal body seems solid and the braided steel cable has a lot of strength. There is also a small rubber spacer where the cable meets the key chain, this help reduce shock when letting your badge/key go and letting it retract by itself. The plastic on the card holder has reinforcements woven into it so seems like it will last. the only part I'm unsure of the the rotating action inside. It seems great now but that tends to be the part that breaks over time, I'll update my review if/when it finally breaks. Overall very happy so far, 5 Stars for a well designed and built product that does its job well. Also really happy about the price, gave the second on to another maintenance guy.
